I've come ten thousand miles to save my family's ships. No man will stop me now!"
So Erin Conroy declared as the Yankee shipping heiress arrived in Japan to discover that Storm Davin, the proud Southern aristocrat she had refused to marry eight years before on the eve of the Civil War, now controlled the fate of her bankrupt legacy.
The beautiful but spoiled young girl Storm remembered had grown into a woman of rare courage with a spirit valiant enough to face the challenges of an ancient empire swept by the winds of change. But was she bold enough to confront the bittersweet promise of love once lost yet never forgotten?
Maura Seger was born in 1951. She and her husband, Michael, met while they were both working for the same company. They married after a whirlwind courtship that might have been taken directly from romance novel. She credits her husband's patient support and good humor for helping her fulfill the lifelong dream of being a writer.
She is happily at work on a new novel, because she finds that writing each romance is and adventure filled with fascinating people who never fail to surprise her. When she isn't writing, she keeps busy homeschooling her two children and thinking of new stories. She lives in New England, USA, with her husband, children and menagerie... mostly.
Erin travels to Japan to get her trading ships back. After her uncle's death she took the family business in hand. Storm owns her ships until her uncle's outstanding debts are paid. Erin and Storm also share a past. When Erin was young and spoiled Storm asked her to marry him but she refused him. One Civil War and a few years later, Erin is much more mature. Storm decides to exact revenge for his broke heart by making Erin his mistress. The setting was exotic and the Japanese culture and history interesting. I loved Erin, she was feisty and bold, she didn't let Storm walk all over her. The banter between Erin and Storm was funny. Storm was gentle and patient with Erin as she figured out she loved him. Adventure, love and great characters.
