Of all the travel guides I've skimmed this is the one I decided to actually read. It had the right mix of historical background along with suggestions on what to see, where to eat and where to stay. So excited about our trip!!

Geared toward higher-income, more middle-aged people. The maps are terrible - not one map has more than a few streets labeled, and outside of Jerusalem this is a problem.

Kineret brought this book with us on our trip, and while I think it is not a good way to plan a trip, it is a great way to find places to eat--the thing I am not fond of and it is true of the series as well as this book, there are no city maps, so it is hard to wend your way through towns, but we went to some of the FOdor's choices and were not disappointed. GOod source of food information, but might be hard to find them.

Good general guidebook, especially if you are renting a car. Probably better for families not people on a budget. Has many smaller basic maps of individual cities but they only give main streets, not the smaller alleys in between. Needs a larger (road) map of Israel. The index can be kind of confusing too. It was adequate for our trip (the only general guidebook we used) but we didn't rely solely on it.

Pretty good. Would have like more indication of Kosher restaurants, but we figured it out.
