She writes most of her BL and shotacon manga under the pen name "Ashika Sakura", and writes tame BL and mainstream stories under Sakurako Gokurakuin.
She is most known as the original creator of "Sensitive Pornograph" and "Sekirei", which are now both anime. She seems to be authoring mostly male-oriented work than yaoi these days.
When she presents herself in the afterwords of her comics, she tends to be very shy, embarassed and modest when she writes them, which some fans find humorous because her manga can get very sexual and outrageous.
Gokurakuin is a huge fan of singer, Akina Nakamori.
An interesting and fun manga comic. A lot of content, so no criticism there, and some great graphics, I just wonder if manga is for me Enjoyed the story so far and the build up of the characters but, I don’t know, maybe just but .....
So a fun read, good drawings, an enjoyable story ( and I’d like to see where it goes), hence 4 stars ⭐️
I was originally going to give this three stars, but I have since decided to give it four because I've begun to unexpectedly enjoy it. To be honest, when I read the first two volumes, I really didn't think much of this manga. It wasn't until, I want to say, volume 5 or so that I began to truly enjoy it. Now, as the story is coming ever closer to its conclusion, I can say that this is definitely one of the better harem manga currently being published. And the reasons are simple.
A super awesome cast of strong female characters:
Epic battles:
Touching moments:
A main protagonist who actually develops a backbone:
Sekirei has been a surprisingly entertaining manga.
Off to a good start. This is certainly interesting. Parental warning!
We don't have all the details yet, but it seems the fighting girls are a mix of super powered, supernatural, and/or otherworldly when it comes to their abilities & mission. Maybe genetic engineering too? That seems to be implied. Musubi is just adorable. Very beautiful, too. I'm suspecting that the landlady might either be an oni, or somehow connected to the mysterious MBI organization. Certainly some interesting characters. I like the art style. The girls have gorgeous eyes. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series, mwhich I will be doing tomorrow after I purchase further volumes. It's nearly midnight here, & I've been up since 8:30 AM, with less than 4 hour's sleep.
Surprisingly enjoyable. A good first volume that establishes and builds on the characters and hints at what's to come. The art is clean and easy to follow, it has a quirky sense of humor, a growing romance(s), likeable characters, and a few fight scenes. Yes, it's a harem, and yes, there is fan service throughout, but after a while it's easy to tune out most of the mild stuff. And, while unnecessary, it comes off as funny the way it's written. If that kind of thing doesn't bother you, it's worth a read.
I really enjoy this type of manga, If you're ok with a bit of Ecchi com ine with a twisted story then this is your book! Riminds me a bit of To Love RU
I love serkieri I watch it and always wanted to see if there anything different from the anime to the book and there was and I am so happy I readed it 😁😁😁
I did start with the anime before reading this, but when I found out how different they are and saw how the second season did not really have a true ending, I had to start reading the manga from the beginning. I know a little more about Sekirei so I don't think the beginning is too confusing, but I do remember having a lot of questions when I originally started to watch. I do think it is weird how they are introducing parts of plot points and world building in the prologue that I didn't remember until later in the series, which might totally throw off new readers.
I can't really rate the drawing style or anything, but some of the panels portray the characters as more... chibi I guess is the word I want. It brings a lot of cute to the character Musubi. That being said, I also have to point out that the manga is RIDDLED with PANTIES and BREASTS so if that isn't for you, I wouldn't really recommend this. HOWEVER, I also know at least from the anime that Sekirei has a really interesting plot.
The cliff hanger at the end of this volume, provided the rest of the novel interested the reader, will definitely make them want to see more.
Synopsis, from Wikipedia, "One day, Minato meets a girl named Musubi, who literally falls from the sky. Minato soon learns that she is a "Sekirei" who chose him as her "Ashikabi", a human with special powers that allows them to have a contract with Sekirei. This binds the Sekirei to him and allows them to use their full power in elimination battles with other Sekirei. Made up of cute girls, buxom women, and bishōnen, the Sekirei fight in a competition known as "The Game" or the "Sekirei Plan" organized by Hiroto Minaka, the chairman and founder of the mysterious and powerful MBI Corporation. Minato soon learns that being the partner of a girl is not all fun and games, especially when several other Sekirei choose him as their Ashikabi, each also forming a contract with him. Now, Minato must find a way to survive both the life-threatening battles of the Sekirei Plan and his partners' fierce competition for him."
I haven't watched the Sekirei anime at all so just based on Vol 1 and this story was greats So far. The first book did well to set up the base storyline without giving away too much, the main characters Minato really seems like someone people can relate to. At one point everyone gets depressed and thinks it's all over, and they want to escape to a fantasy world. the Sekirei Project and Musubi is that escape for him. Fair warning every single chapter contained several aspects of fan service. That sounds like a lot, and it is but it plays directly into the story since this is a fighting/tournament Manga. (In a big fight between Gods with powers clothes will be shred & burnt.)
Though something different from what i usually read, this book make me realize that enjoyment to some extent is necessary in life. i loved this book it was well written and not to mention the art was simply great.couldn't put it down.
suitable for boys.(and girls if they r interested in girls)
It does not disappoint! For those that have been waiting on the 3rd season of Sekirei we can finally read the comic that was the inspiration for the anime. I just hope we don't have to wait forever for vol.2.
Sekirei is one of my favorite manga and one of the few harem stories that I truly do love. This first volume introduces you to the two main characters and sets the stage for the story moving forward.
I saw it first so I decided to read the manga, and it's even better!!!! I can't wait to read the rest and I hope the third season of the anime gets made.
