My first time to read this kind of book. A good eye opener for me. One important takeaway: the READ model, research, engage, access, divert. Should be careful in the future when someone else uses this modle on me!
I'm not sure what I was expecting to get out of this book. I didn't really enjoy the writing style and it felt outdated to me. I like uncovering secrets but I don't really have any specific agenda and I've never tried to build a rapport with someone just for information. I think if I were to ever consciously use these techniques, I would feel evil and manipulative. And some of the tips just seemed so obvious and inauthentic but maybe I'm underestimating them. I'll try to keep this information in mind in case it's ever useful.
Several really useful conversational tools to elicit information. The second half of the book is much more useful and I have used this technique already and found people willing to provide more information than I thought possible. In any field, this is a useful skill to acquire!
Great information for anyone who wants to gain information. From investigators to parents and any one in between, this book will give you great insights
