Bought this book ages ago and it's still a firm favourite with my Grandchildren today.

Postman Pat and his cat, Jess, are off to deliver the mail in the fog. Pat almost delivers a letter to a scarecrow; the fog is very thick. Then he loses his cat. Later, he finds Jess and they both are lost. Only the church bells can guide them home.

I have searched for this book for many years. Finally today I resorted to listening to a Postman Pat book on YouTube.

Nice story, nice illustrations; they read as if from another world now, which is their greatest asset.

Exactly what a children's book should be - about the right length, a variety of characters, a definite storyline, pleasant illustrations. Back in 1982, they did it perfectly. Reading it in 2020, it almost feels like a distant age, quaint, something like the Archers from around the 1950s. Very likeable. 4.25/5
