Well... this is angsty, I didn't expected that.

After how the story evolved in previous book, it feels like a spin-off or we're in alternate universe but still related. Don't expected the character to be entirely similar or act the same way it's bittersweet. The plot in this book is fast pace, faster than previous books. I thoroughly enjoy this book, excited to read the next book but a little wary since the english version of vol. 6 isn't published yet.

I’m still crying. I do not think I will ever recover. I love how their personalities have flipped. And while I loved the old Oscar, I love the new one more. 👀 I feel like I’m cheating on the old Oscar with the new Oscar when they are the same Oscar, but it’ll be fine hopefully. I just hope he finally learns about his old self and maybe she can learn about her old self too.

I wasn’t sure at first if this new direction would be as enjoyable as the last three installments, but I found myself falling just at deeply for these new iterations as before. I like the direction the story is taking, and I’m excited to get some long awaited answers to certain mysteries.

When I started reading these light novels, I expected an overall plot, with each book centering on a subplot that somehow tied into the overall plot. Eventually, I realized that the overall plot was simply, "a cursed prince (Oscar) enters into a one-year contract with a powerful witch/mage (Tinasha) and they have multiple adventures." So, at the end of the 3rd light novel, when the year is over and Oscar and Tinasha are married, what do you do to continue the story? Well, apparently, you reset the timeline and start the whole thing over again. Meh.

The first time through, Oscar is a powerful swordsman, and Tinasha is a 400-year-old witch with a wealth of experience. The second time through, Oscar is pretty much the same, but Tinasha has been asleep for 400 years, so emotionally and experience-wise, she is only 19, though 4 of those years were as the Queen of a very powerful nation, so she does have a lot of political savvy, but she is more prone to making mistakes and getting herself into trouble when battling opponents.

In addition, while in the first timeline Oscar pursued Tinasha pretty much relentlessly, with her constantly shooting him down, in the second timeline, Tinasha half-heartedly pursues (and eventually gives up on) Oscar, with him dismissing the idea entirely on political grounds.

But the thing that bothers me most is the dynamic between the two. In the first timeline, Oscar and Tinasha make an unbeatable pair, with each one having strengths that supplement the other's weaknesses. They become a team. They end up trusting each other implicitly. And it is because of this dynamic that Tinasha falls in love with and marries Oscar. But in this second timeline, they are not equally matched. Tinasha lacks the experience she had in the first timeline and is weaker and more unsure of herself. In most battles, Tinasha often gets in over her head, and Oscar has to rescue her, and often chastises her for getting herself into difficult situations from which he must rescue her. So the dynamic isn't the same - Oscar appears as strong and Tinasha as weak. I'm hoping things turn around in the next book, because if not, and they do get married, it will not be as equals. I very much preferred the self-assured Tinasha from the first timeline.

The series takes an unfortunate turn in this volume. Tinasha becomes much less compelling and Oscar's character turns from being slightly annoying in his pride to outright emotionally abusive. Unfortunately, these character changes continue for the rest of the series.

Thus the story restarts/continues. It just felt like I was reading book 1 all over again.... the excitement I felt was just gone. I am sure some people like the twist but I did NOT like it....I kind of just kept going because I wanted to know how it wrapped up.
