Bringing The Arts Into The Library

Rate this book
Using a library's facilities to bring arts to the community is a wonderful marketing and outreach opportunity, a tangible way to show the public that libraries offer value, thus shoring up grassroots support. Carol Smallwood has combed the country finding examples of programs implemented by a variety of different types of libraries to enrich, educate, and entertain patrons through the arts.

So the book was published in 2012, but...they do a great job about talking about ways to bring arts of all types into the library: authors, illustrators, artists, art programs, mixed media, performing arts, music, etc.
The system I work for already does a great job of this and yes, the book is more geared to finding a way to bring in those specialists for these, BUT...the book does also do a good job of giving the options of saying, hey, if you don't have the money, apply for grants, or here's something that the inhouse staff can do instead AND here's why the arts in the library are just as important as they are in schools and FOR ALL AGES!
