"Don't 'cha know?" Bonko screams, "ain't no such thing as fair at the carnival?"

A short prequel to The Cotton Candy Massacre. I'm so glad that I read this one too because it gives us a glimpse, even a small one, into Bonko.

The scene we get in this is one where Bonko meets Reese, the monkey boy. I will admit I was curious about their relationship since he was referred to as like a child to Bonko. I just love it when a villain shows a tiny bit of their humanity.

For being so short it still gave us plenty of gore and fun! My only complaint is I wanted more.

Before the massacre there was this little tale of crime and punishment. An origin story for one of CCM’s main characters and some more insight in Bonko’s true madness! By now I’m more than sure that Chris is one of my fav indie horror writers and I still have a few of his books to read… a great addition to the lore of Bonkin’s Bonanza this was!

I basically devour Christopher Robertson’s writing likes it’s a stack of pancakes and a side of bacon. With all of Robertson’s writing, the story is alive, the sentences have their own personalities. This short story is a prequel to The Cotton Candy Massacre, I would recommend this after TCCM, that’s how I read it and it worked great that way. Sort of a small dessert after the main course, which is great because I needed more of the world Robertson created in TCCM. A quick read that builds the world of TCCM in a big way and really puts a toot tootin spotlight on ol bonko’s evil booty(I can’t type cuss words anymore because my reviews get banned, must not be a cussin’ day for reviews.) k thx.

In this terrifying short story prequel to COTTON CANDY MASSACRE (releasing on July 1st!) get ready to see what happens when someone does an insane clown wrong.

NEVER cross Bonko the Clown! Once you're in his carnival you're part of his effed up -- and maybe plainly effed, family. Also even though short, there's a good job done of descriptions of the setting and clowns that make you feel you've been to this carnival and hella glad you didn't stumble into the clowns' dressing rooms.

Oh, and there's gore and laughs... because when Bonko serves up justice in Robertson's world there's just no other way.

Extremely brutal, intense and overall a fun gory read. In all honesty, I wish I would have read this one before 'The Cotton Candy Massacre'. If you did this like I did, it's not a mistake; just adds more to a few characters that are featured in TCCM. Robertson has a unique writing style that I find enjoyable. Every detail, bit of gore and event has its place in this prequel and I highly recommend it. But if you're horrified of clowns...steer clear! Pennywise has nothing against these goons!

I hate clowns....but not this. Although I still can't look at the cover for too long.

Christopher has done it again, giving us an engaging dirty, short intro to Bonko the Clown from the The Cotton Candy Massacre (release date 1st July).

No...Bonko that wasn't a short joke....no...please don't hurt me 😭😭

Robertson introduces the devilishly fantastic Bonko in this short prelude to his upcoming release The Cotton Candy Massacre (out 1st July!). He manages to pack quite the punch into this short tale, and it's a great introduction to Robertson and his Terrorscope Productions. So stop clownin' around and get this book, else Bonko's gonna getcha.

TRIGGER WARNING: intense gore, talks of prostitution and sexual abuse and implied harm to a child

Goons and Grease paint is my first splatterpunk horror read. I knew the genre could make your stomach turn but I didn't realize the anxiety to come with the read! The story is only 37 pages but I could not stop once I started! Can't wait to read the cotton candy massacre books next!

This short story acts as a prelude to Chris’ imminent novel The Cotton Candy Massacre, which I will definitely be picking up based on this (& his earlier book The October Society). Here, a young couple plan a quick getaway with funds lifted from Bonkin’s Bonanza carnival. I’m a big fan of Chris’ writing which is immediate & sharp with snappy dialogue. His interest in screenwriting really shines through. A short shocker which bodes well for the main tale.

If you made it through the horrors of the Cotton Candy Massacre and still have the stomach for more, this is a perfect, nasty little sideshow for you from the unique voice that is Christopher Robertson.

In just a few pages, we get more Bonko, more violence and more gore - all delivered in Robertson’s signature, swashbuckling style. Lots of fun here - grab yourself a ticket!

4.5 stars rounded up to 5!

While I read this super fun addition after finishing The Cotton Candy Massacre, I still really enjoyed it and love getting even more of a backstory into one of our main characters. Coming in at a short and gory 31 pages as an ebook, this was a super quick and entertaining read that made me want atleast 2 more books to be added into this series. I absolutely hate clowns but absolutely loved these books and really need more of them. Please Christopher?! Robertson is definitely climbing his way up my favorite horror authors list and I can't wait to read more of his work.

This story is exactly what it says on the cover, a short story prequel to The Cotton Candy Massacre. It provides a glimpse into the newest addition to the Terrorscope universe, as well as some of its characters. Further proof on why clowns can be scary to some.

A great short tale all about Bonko the Clown set before The Cotton Candy Massacre. I recommend both books. An excellent, well written horror!

The lil plot twist at the end...this ties in nicely to The Cotton Candy Massacre. For 30ish pages, it was a wild ride from start to finish!

This was an extremely short read, like 37 pages short but my gosh did I enjoy it. It’s the prequel to The Cotton Candy Massacre and this one has left me itching to read the next book soon.

It’s gory, it’s graphic and my sick little mind loved every minute of it.

After reading this I’ve added the majority of Christopher Robertson’s books to my wishlist, I adore what I’ve seen of his writing so far. So watch this space, I may have a new love affair!

I had no idea that there was a prequel to The Cotton Candy Massacre, but SURPRISE, there is! These are both by Christopher Robertson. If you haven’t read either of these, get on it. You also can actually read this one after the first book, it will explain a lot either way. Part Toots is coming August 1st! Be ready!

This is a short story prequel to 'The Cotton Candy Massacre' and basically serves as an origin story for one of the characters (but I bet you'll never guess which one). I loved this, it's always f-f-f-fun being a fly on the wall at Bonkin's Bonanza. The only criticism I have is that it wasn't longer😁. All in all, this just served to wet my appetite even more for TCCM - Part Toots... Ay-Yup!

Like Bonko himself, this short story prelude to the upcoming Cotton Candy Massacre proves, unrelenting horror can come in small packages. The perfect primer to what is to be Robertson’s summer of clowning around at a carnival from hell.

Very quick read, I can’t wait to read the sequel. It’s paints a gruesome picture. If you learned anything growing up.. you don’t mess with the carnival.

This is a short story that takes place ten years or so before the events of The Cotton Candy Massacre. I enjoyed how it immediately flipped from the 80s cheese of the main book to a more exploitation style, feeling like a 70s flick. Just wish there was more of it, really.

Spoilers/Review for "Goons And Grease Paint" by Christopher Robertson (@kit_romero )
.
A prequel short to the Cotton Candy Massacre, GAGP centres around Bonkin's Bonanza in the 1970s, with Munroe, Bailey and Bailey's son, Reese who have robbed Bonkin's. But will they get away with it?...
.
I Beta read this one many moons ago for Chris but I still looked forward to it. I tried to forget about it in anticipation for the final piece
.
This is a really fun short story that gets you ready for The Cotton Candy Massacre (review for that soon). It's a good set up, fast paced with no waste to it. It delivers in the second half in a big way with brutality and some shocks. There were lingering questions but TCCM delivers. A great short and one you can easily devour, enhanced by Chris' cinematic style. My only thing would be I wish we had more
.
Overall 4.5/5 🍌
