I'm so happy to finally read this book! I've waited 7 years for this book and it was well worth the wait. Those who don't know, this series was published as Kaiju Winter (titles being Kaiju Winter, Kaiju Storm, Kaiju Inferno) but the 4th book was never published. Mr Bible got the publishing rites back and found another publisher. The books were renamed, new covers, new category and published with the 4th book.
I'm giving this four stars due to the overall story being engrossing and I really like giant monsters. A lot of the history is revealed in this book, plenty of character growth and mini-arcs within being completed. The ineptitude of government is show time and again, as well as the list for power amongst the elite.
Its quite brutal with vastly more death and mayhem, on a scale that is difficult to fathom. Terry, for me, still the weakest and worst character, she's more of a "middle finger" type and is the most annoying by far. Nevertheless still a good book that ends this story off well.
Poor ending to the series, I didn't really care for much apart from was Lowell going to kill more monsters, and the dog better not die. I swear there were so many close calls with that dog I wasn't happy that my boy was going to get axed.
The end battle wasn't satisfying and the open-ended ending seemed like a cheap way to wrap it up.
I hate Vandervault and wish she died in pain during childbirth. Harsh? maybe, but so was she, and just as annoying.
It is easier to fight against an enormous enemy than to fight against yourselves. Human traits must be assimilated into Kaiju fighting. A lot of good, not so good and plainly evil fight against an overwhelming threat. You must read to find the answers hoomons
This book had a good mix of characters and a fast pace story line. I enjoyed the dangerous journeys and the reunion at the end. Not every favorite character made it which made the story even better. This has been a great summer read.
By the middle of the second book all I was doing was rooting for the dog to make it . At least that panned out if little else. Good writing, lousy story line. Four books could have been two and better as a result.
Very well written with loads of action. Nothing I like better than a good monster book. I think this author could go on and write another couple books to finish the series off right.
Amazingly creative. Jake took seemingly insignificant characters and developed over the top heros. Also the story was extremely creative, had no idea where it was going until I was there.
With so many things happening, Bible manages to raise the bar a lot. Loved how this series developed and better yet how the book finished. Now I'm hoping that we see more of this story and that it happens soon.
A great end to a great series, kept me guessing all the way through. I feel like the author could smoothly transition to a second series about what comes next (no spoilers). If Jake decides to add more to this story I’ll be along for the adventure!
4th book wrapped it all up and left room for maybe more books ..I enjoyed reading the series and that's Whitman thing so 5stars and a good job to the author
