This was an easy enough read in the way one loves a historical romance and the chase. The story moved right along and I loved the chemistry between these two. It was fun and a little frustrating but I really liked the romance.
I was a little confused about the very beginning but it all worked out.

This was a Netgalley read and all opinions are my own.

Looooooved it! Oliver is so blind to his own feelings and stuck on the age gap, you just want to shake him. As Lydia says, he is just so infuriating, but I adored him. I kept getting Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Henry Higgins vibes (Oliver and Lydia's relationship is nothing like either one, but little moments of Oliver gave me feels of these two in the best way.) I've never really thought about it, but I really like friends-to-lovers stories and both books in this series so far are at the top of the list for this trope. Lydia is a lovely character. She is so smart and caring and I loved seeing her grow into herself. I was so involved that I almost cried with her heartbreaks and her struggle to get Oliver to accept the love between them. And all the moments when friends/family try to gently prod him too were so well written. I really liked how the author set up the story/relationship in the prologue with glimpses of the stages of their friendship and how she both highlighted and normalized the age difference. There is some spice later in the book and I enjoyed how they finally came together that way. Lastly, if you like a good grovel, Oliver will provide.

I received a free ARC of this novel via Hidden Gems in exchange for a honest review. My opinion is my own.

This is the second book in the Lost Lords series by Ms. Dean. I would definitely recommend you read the first book before this one. While they are not COMPLETELY dependent on each other there are some complementing parts that will make far more sense if read in order. I really enjoyed this story and the interplay between all of the characters. There are a few racy parts but there is more plot than sex. I will definitely be looking for more material by this author.

Two Sisters💃💃, Three Brothers🐺🐺🐺

ADULT Regency Romance💕 and Adventure
Little Lydia👩, one of two daughters of a Viscount, always knows she loves and will marry Oliver🐺, the oldest son of an Earl and their closest neighbor at the next estate.

There is never any doubt in her mind, even though Oliver🐺 is 14 years older. The intervening years as Lydia💃💋 grows up and Oliver🐺🍆⛲ takes on the heavy reins of the Earldom are a trial by 🔥fire.

ARC Provided by Hidden 💎Gems.
I also got this ebook KU.

This is a well written, wonderful and very emotional ADULT story, told over many years, and the many trials of the three sons of the late Earl. There is, of course, some angst between Oliver🐺🍆⛲ and Lydia💃💋, but it's not overwhelming as some romances💕 can be. The book is a novella, and included is a teaser for the next book about one of the other two sons.

This is about Lydia who knew from when she was young who she was going to marry. But will she really marry him when she grows up? I thought this was a sweet story. I liked that their was chemistry between the characters. One thing I liked less were the dialogues, some were a bit too long.

I received this book for free from NetGalley in return for a honest review

This was too short, but it was so much fun! Oliver has to be one of my all-time favorite self-deluded heroes. Like her sister Alexandra and Elizabeth in Teach Me, Lydia was a delight. Cassandra Dean is a wonderful writer and I really hope she moves on to full length novels.

This was a 5 Star until epilogue

The story was good. The characters were likeable. There were a few inconsistencies but for the most part, it was enjoyable. Then the dumbest epilogue I've ever seen that had nothing to do with the story, was 18 years later, and wasn't anything but a summation of a dumb story. Totally ruined a good read.

3.25 STARS

I enjoyed the beginning when the H - age 14, holds the h as a newborn, he felt a connection the baby. The family have been friends for years and you can get to each other's homes through the attic. Comes in handy near the end.

The story line became repetitive and my feelings for the H dwindled as the story progressed. You will hear over and over, I'm too old, you're too young. The only suspense, was the H going to let someone 5 years younger than he marry the h? Then, when the H finally comes to his senses, the h plays hard to get.

There is an epilogue that adds nothing to the story because it isn't about our H/h at all, but totally different people that had nothing to do with this story.

Lovemaking outside of marriage, heat level 5 out of 5 and described once.

I read the first of the series and the middle brother is missing. The h's sister goes looking for him and finds him after 11 years. In this story, he is still missing and the h's sister leaves to discover him (but she found him in book 1)!!! I remember reading story 1 and commenting I wanted to know how the older brother reacted when his brother was finally found. Well, we find out in this one. Part of story 1 is dumped into this story. Made this one more confusing if you read book 1 first.

No cheating, an epilogue that adds nothing to the story, this story ends abruptly - yes we get HEA. The epilogue would have been nice about the couple in this story, and we have steam.

I received this book from bookfunnel. All opinions are my own and voluntarily given. (ljb)

I really enjoyed Rescuing Lord Roxwaithe. The book starts out with Oliver meeting Lydia for the very first time - he was 14 and she was 3 days old. From the first moment he holds her, Oliver feels a connection to Lydia. Oliver's family was extremely close to Lydia's. With Lydia's parents acting more like his parents than Oliver's own. Over time Oliver and Lydia remain close - closer than you would find most with a 14 year age gap. Lydia from a very early age declares that she is going to marry Oliver when she is old enough (something I think is pretty common for little girls). But that feeling doesn't go away with time - and when Lydia turns 18 she kisses Oliver. Oliver being 32 has a major freak-out related to it and Lydia is swept off to the continent for some "polish" and some much needed distance from Oliver.

Oliver, I think, was in love from Lydia - but the age difference was a real stumbling block. I think he felt like he was a creepy person to have feelings for Lydia - that they were wrong and inappropriate. And truthfully, I don't think he was wrong. Even though those kinds of age gaps weren't uncommon - Lydia was definitely too young at 18, When Lydia returns - Oliver has extremely mixed emotions about it. He is in love with Lydia but doesn't think he deserves her and that she still doesn't know her own mind. Lydia, on the other hand is frustrated by Oliver's paternalistic viewpoint and tries to get him to adjust his thinking - with only limited success.

Both Oliver and Lydia are very believable and understandable characters. I enjoyed the writing style and the connections between all the people in the books. What kept this from being a four star read for me were some of the historical items - I'm not a super stickler - but a few things just bothered me. Like Oliver not going to Eton until he was 14 (usually boys started around age 10 or even earlier). And the overall freedom both Lydia and Alexandra had - most girls of their age groups in their class were pretty much kept under lock and key - let alone writing journal articles or traveling on their own.

Overall - this was a very sweet book that I enjoyed!

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley - but these opinions are my own!

There is so much to love about ‘Rescuing Lord Roxwaithe’ and I am so pleased to have a new author to add to my list. From the very beginning Oliver, the Earl of Roxwaithe, has held a very special bond with Lady Lydia Torrence. However, Oliver has always felt that the fourteen-year age gap, and his great respect for her father, the Marquis of Demartine, has meant that he should only see her as a younger sister. Lydia has never felt that way and has always known that she would marry Oliver, until her eighteenth birthday when she kissed him, and he told her to leave. Two years later, they find themselves together again, with feelings even more intense. But if only Oliver could realise that age makes no difference to when you love someone.
I can’t reveal too much and spoil that absolute delight that this story held. From the very first chapter, I was captivated. Cassandra Dean’s writing is impeccable and flows with such ease. I loved every conversation between Lydia and Oliver, but also found the secondary characters, added such a great dimension to this story. Both Lord and Lady Demartine, and their children, were fascinating in how they observed the ever-transparent feelings of Lydia and Oliver, for each other. It was also interesting to see such a mature young woman as Lydia, hold onto her feelings, allowing Oliver, the older man, time to mature and realise that theirs was a love that went beyond their age difference.
A must read and definitely one to treasure. I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

♦️♦️ ONE REFRESHING JOURNEY♦️♦️
Fascinating! Cassandra throws caution to the wind, takes no prisoner's, no turning back and no holds barred attitude, rocks this jewel from start to finish, serving up some tough decisions, hard choices and relentless drive, blasting this baby to life brilliantly. A tumultuous vortex chocked-full of arduous struggles and heart pounding triumphs, observing the dramatic twists and stilted turns, clocking the adorable quirks and defying bents, propelling this jewel to staggering heights. Anarchy, escapades and mayhem rule the roost, dissolving restrictions and relaxed limitations are amplified and explored, drawing deep for every ounce of strength in a fierce surge of determination, showcasing the soaring ups and agonizing downs, flawless in it's simplicity and beautiful in it's depth, melding this gem together seamlessly. The attraction and chemistry collides with such force, baring profound emotions and undeniable adoration, drawing our characters closer, binding them together perfectly. The characters, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits add depth and diversity, transforming them into lovable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and vivid descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that makes the storyline explode. Fantastic job Cassandra, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

Finding true love takes time and patience to be exposed

This is my first book by Cassandra Dean and it is a terrific regency romance. It is the second in Ms. Dean’s “Lost Lords” series. The plot grabs and holds the reader’s interest immediately from the first page. The characters are very real and the situations and emotions are heartfelt and wonderfully entertaining. Since some of the characters in this book are also in the 1st book of the series, I can’t wait to read “Finding Lord Farlsle”. I highly recommended it.
Lady Lydia Torrence has known Oliver Farlisle, Earl of Roxwaithe (who is 14 years her senior) for all her life and has made it known that she and Oliver were to be wed. After her debut at 18, she declared her love for Oliver and is patiently waiting for his betrothal. Oliver tells her it is only a crush and refused a proposal, so she spent a year on the Continent attempting to forget about him. After her return from the continent, Oliver discovers that she has grown into a “woman” and she still wants him. Lydia attempts flirtation with a suitor to change her mind but is unsuccessful and she put Oliver’s “only friendship’ to the test. The story ends with Oliver’s discovery that he really does lover her and ends with an HEA. I suggest that you don’t miss this one.

This is the second book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own the time frames do overlap so I’d recommend reading them in order. I read this book immediately after reading Alex's story & I'm now impatiently waiting Stephen’s story, I’ve found another must read author. I loved both Oliver & Lydia even though I wanted to shake Oliver several times. The chemistry between the pair was always there & they knew each other so well & were definitely soul mates. A well written novel that drew me in from the first page & their first meeting when Lydia was three days old to the lovely epilogue.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Excellent Start of Showing, Not Telling

I read and review a lot of fiction, and one thing that drives me absolutely crazy is info-dumping as we meet each viewpoint character. So I was absolutely delighted by the way the author started this book. She literally shows us brief but key scenes in the couple's relationship, starting with the heroine's birth. These scenes aren't long—usually just a handful of paragraphs—but they take place at key moments in the hero's life. So, by the time we get to the part of the book where they could have an adult romance leading to marriage, we have a deeper understanding of them and their relationship. I wish more authors took such creative tacks! Their romantic arc has some twists and turns because he considers himself far too old for her, even though he has had a long and abiding affection for her, but there has been no one else for her. Will they find their way to an HEA? You'll have to read this well-written book with excellent characters to find out.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Cassandra Dean’s “Rescuing Lord Roxwaithe”
is a delightful story

Lydia was a newborn when Oliver, Earl of Roxwaithe, a fourteen year old boy held her in his arms for the first time. Watching her grow up and having her follow him around all her life was natural and she always looked up to him and loved him knowing that one day when she grew up she would marry him. Oliver always thought that he was too old for her and that she would outgrow it. When Lydia was 18 she kissed him and professed her love for him. Oliver rebuffed her. Crushed, she resolved to go to the continent where she could learn the art of flirting and grow into a woman that Oliver couldn’t refuse. Boy did she!

Oliver and Lydia are both likable. I loved Lydia’s spunk and determination, she knew her heart and and deep down she knew Oliver’s heart too. I can almost understand Oliver’s reservations too but sometimes we have to face losing something to realize just how valuable it truly is. I do wish the couple had had more heartfelt conversations. I did however enjoy the story. It was was a charming story with lots of heartfelt emotion.

Thanks Ms. Dean for this sweet romance.

Rescuing Lord Roxwaithe is a very sweet story about two people who are meant to be together. Lydia has always loved her neighbor, Oliver Lord Roxwaithe, since she was a little girl. He is older than her by 14 years and she knew she would grow up to marry him.

Oliver always believed Lydia would grow out of her infatuation with him and find a young man her own age to love her. When he starts to see her as a grown woman he rejects her and hurts her terribly. After an extended tour of the continent she is back and is ready to win her man.

Oliver and Lydia have a rare connection. Oliver does everything in his power to resist this woman who he believes deserves to much more than an older husband. Lydia knows what she wants and isn't above seduction. This results in some steamy situations. Both Lydia and Oliver are likable and I did want them to sit down and have a conversation with each other instead of assuming each knows what the other wants.

I really enjoyed the book and want to read more about Oliver and Lydia's families. I received an ARC from NetGalley.

Sometimes an attraction when young can become a true love. That is if one party did not fight it and that is what Oliver, Earl of Roxwaithe had done. Having watched his neighbor, Lydia be born and grow up had just been part of his life. She had attached herself to him at a young age and they had been friends, although there was a 14 year difference.
But when she was 18 and declared she loved him, he pushed her away. Oliver had not had the best of lives growing up. With an absent father and a brother dying, he and his sibling had grown up at Lydia's house and he relied upon her father for so much, especially when he came into the Earldom.
Now, Lydia was back from the continent and taking the Ton by storm. How could he endure it? Yes he really did care about her but felt it was not appropriate.
Fortunately, fate has other ideas and this was a wonderful story seeing these two struggle to come together and have their happy ever after. Adored this story!

This is the second book in the Lost Lords series. Oliver and Lydia knew each other since childhood. Oliver was 14 and Lydia only a few days old when they first met. As they grew they became closer, so close that Lydia was in love with Oliver and sure she wanted to marry him when she was old enough. When she turns 18, she shows him how she feels and because of their age gap, that freaks him out - even though he has the same feelings for her. There is no denying these two have a strong connection. Though Oliver tries his best to resist Lydia, she tries even harder to get him to understand how perfect they are for each other and belong together. Ms. Dean has done a great job of weaving a delightful tale with wonderful characters. This was a very captivating story that had me hooked all the way through. A wonderful addition to the series- looking forward to the next installment!

Oliver holds Lydia as a baby and is smitten and protective even then!
Lydia tells him at a very young age they will marry! Oliver is a broken tired record who constantly says he is much too old!
He denies his feelings so much Lydia thinks it is doomed and flees to the continent for 2 years. All is well until she sees Lord Roxwaithe Aka Oliver and the pain of unrequited love hits again.
But Lydia is done chasing the idiot until someone informs her that Oliver looks at her longingly and she knows she must save him from himself!
I could kick and shake Oliver several times in this story! Once he was confronted with the truth well finally! Not too sure about Lydia mother who would rather have a Duke than an Earl when she married for love and was a prolific breeder herself 😩!
But I digress. It is a love story that overlaps the first one and I love how they all intertwine! Bravo!!

Rescuing Lord Roxwaithe by Cassandra Dean is book Two in the Lost Lords Series. This is the story of Oliver, Earl of Roxwaithe and Lydia Torrence. I haven't yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book. Lydia has always loved Oliver since she was young but he is 14 years older and a friend of the family. So he has placed her in the little sister box but when she is of age she tries to show her feelings but he rebuffs her which of course hurts her. But she does end up leaving to advance herself to make her more of a alluring women that hopefully will open his eyes. A few years later she is back and of course Olive tries to deter her and his feelings but then someone else shows interest in her which starts to open Olives eyes to his true feelings.
Enjoyed their story.

Rescuing Lord Roxwaithe is the second book in the Lost Lords series. The book was interesting, and the characters were great. Oliver, Earl of Roxwaithe, has known Lady Lydia Torrence since she was born. She was always by his side as she grew up. She told everyone they would marry when she got older. Oliver always felt so much older even though he was only 14 years older, but he was convinced she had a childhood crush for him. When she turned eighteen and had her come-out she was heartbroken when he told her he only had feelings for her as a brother would. She left for the Continent and stayed away for over a year. Oliver felt her absence but when she returned, he still denied his feelings. Can she convince him that she knows her own feelings?

This was my first book by this author, but I will definitely read more of her books.

It is the second book in the Lost Lords series, but it can be read a standalone without any problems.

What I enjoyed about this book where the characters and the fact that this book was a bit different then your typical regency romance. I loved how sure Lydia was about her feelings and how she stood up for herself and her happiness and took the steps needed to ensure that. She was sassy, but not annoying

Oliver was a bit different hero. More insecure about himself and not happy with his life, without really knowing what is missing. He is not perfect and also carries scars from his past.

Loved how it was Lydia who took charge and rescued Lord Roxwaithe.

A lovely story of childhood friends. She knew Oliver was hers since he was fourteen and she was three days old. She waited for him but he kept fighting her because he was so much older than her. She was Miss Lydia Clair Torrence and she loved Oliver Malcolm Aloysius Farlisle, heir to the Earl of Roxwaithe. She has a sister and a brother while Oliver has two more brothers. But his youngest brother had died at sea. There are some wonderful twists to this tale of a cruel parent, his father. The characters are great and so engaging. the writing is marvelous and moves with excellent ease. It is entertaining and keeps your attention.

I love when a book grips me and guides you on an heart-stopping journey filled with unexpected twists that holds your full attention to the very end and Rescuing Lord Roxwaithe does just that! Cassandra Dean has given readers a book that is well-written, filled it with head-strong individuals that come to life as you find yourself drawn into their story, great dialogue and with an excellent plot that bring this read together perfectly! "I'm going marry you whe I grow up," young Lydia tells Oliver, who is fourteen years her senior. Two stubborn souls clash and sparks fly as their story unfolds beautifully with drama, sensual awakenings, trials and tribulations, and uncertainties make this one outstanding read that you won't want to miss! I am looking forward to reading Stephen's tale.

This story was very confusing as I felt it would start a situation and then not follow through. Stephen was mentioned through but I felt I was alway left hanging in almost all those situations. For example why was he arguing or dealing with the lady no one like? Also I saw no connection between the epilogue and the story I just read. It just appears and I don’t understand it.
The plot was interesting and I liked it initially but then there were so many situations that I was reading that suddenly seemed dropped before it was finished. For that reason I gave it only two stars. Perhaps I was the only reader who felt that way but for me I felt that the story would start something and then not finish the idea.

Lydia knows her heart belongs to Oliver, it always has. It is Oliver who needs convincing. I love the way the prologue is written. “Oliver was ________ years, ________ months or ______days old when.....” and then there is the event or emotion attached to that age/time. It is a clever and intimate way of, not only introducing the reader to Oliver, but having the reader become invested in his life and happiness. There are moments when my heart was breaking for both Oliver and Lydia, and truly wondered if they were going to have their happy ending. This is a new author for me, and I look forward to reading more of her captivating stories.

I enjoyed this historical romance with the two main characters that were Lady Lydia Torrence and Oliver, Earl of Roxwaithe. And also the rest of the characters to.

Lady Lydia Torrence has love Oliver since she was 4 years old. She told him that she would one day merry him. At the age of eighteen she had her first kiss with him.

Oliver, the Earl of Roxwaithe has regarded Lady Lydia Torrence as a sibling. He has told himself that she is to young for him. He think that she just has a crush on him and it will go away.

This was a fun story to read. It has a few surprises within. I thought it was sweet how she keep on loving him even after the things he said to her.

Honestly if this book hasn't been so short I would not have finished it.
Oliver has known Lydia since she was days old and he was fourteen. They grew up together literally as he and his brothers frequently stayed with her family and she snuck into his study every single day.
The age difference wouldn't have been such a big deal except hr literally watched her grow up. The growing up together would have been such a big deal of they were closer in age but the two elements together didn't work for me.
Additionally nothing happens in the book other than the constant I have loved him always, she is too young, I'm to old.
