Can Bryson keep her safe, or will Tinley’s past nightmare become her new reality?

Every moment, Tinley Harper lives in fear that the man who abducted her ten years ago will keep his promise and return to finish what he started. Scared and alone in her older brother’s absence, she welcomes a familiar handsome face, Special Agent Bryson Bennett, when he comes knocking on her door.

FBI Agent Bryson Bennett knows it’s time to put his past behind him and move on from the tragic accident that left him a single father. When his best friend calls out of fear for his little sister’s safety, Bryson jumps in to protect the beautiful Tinley for fear that another person close to him will be taken away.

Stuck together in her tiny apartment, the two fight to control their unspoken attraction. Anonymous disturbing gifts, new murders, and watchful eyes that monitor their every move signal that Tinley’s terrifying past is now bleeding into her present. As passion burns, dark secrets are revealed, and the elusive stalker seeks to catch them unawares. Can Bryson keep her safe, or will Tinley’s past nightmare become her new reality?

Mine to Hold is a standalone romantic thriller, the fifth book in the interconnected Protection Series. Each book can be read as a standalone but due to character crossover the series is best read in order. Please note this book DOES contain several triggers (stalking, murder, mention of past abuse, memories of time in captivity, and more) and detailed mature content. This book is recommended for readers 18+.

This is a Dark Romantic Suspense, and this is the 5th book in the Protection series. I have read and reviewed the other books in this series, and this book can be read as a standalone even if I really loved the other books in this series. I have been really waiting for this book to be released, and I had to pick it up the second I got my hands on this book. I could not put this book down, and I really want to re-read it right away...LOL. I really loved this book. This book's main character is FBI Agent Bryson which is the single father that was in the last book, and I just could not wait to get more of his cute daughter and him. I think his daughter was too cute and his mother was everything. Tinley was everything he needed in one hot mess package. This book had me laughing my a** off at one moment and then the next moment biting my nails off sitting on the edge of my seat. There were some steamy times in this book, but this book does not get as steamy hot as the other books in this series. I think the amount of steamy in this book works with the characters in this book and the back story of the characters. I really cannot wait for the next book. This book was so well written and great I cannot say enough great things about it. I have since re-read this book. I read this book via Kindle Unlimited/Library and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book, but I have since brought a paperback copy of this book.

There is now an audiobook for this book, and I re-read this book by listening to the audiobook. I really enjoyed the audiobook.

4 stars!

Even though this had a few tropes I don't particularly look forward to--single parent, nanny, boss/employee romance--KLM is such a fantastic writer when it comes to steamy romantic suspense that I found myself completely entranced in this story. I loved Kennedy's signature push-and-pull dynamic between the two MCs, while the suspense plot kept me coming back for more. I've enjoyed this series so far, and I will definitely continue reading ♡

Intense….

Suspenseful and steamy, another amazing read in series! Tinley and Bryson were brought together by a serial killer who was intent on finishing what was started. The psychological impact on Tinley was deep and her struggles to overcome what happened were life-changing and life-affirming. After all she’d endured there were now new, devastating threats. Bryson, a once good friend, was back in her life to be her shining knight but it wasn’t that simple…

Bryson had no room in his life for love yet his best friend’s sister was someone he couldn’t turn away from. As their bond only deepened, so did the danger…

Oh wow, was this a fabulous read! Their journey was one obstacle after another as they fought to stay alive and earned their (hopefully) happily ever after. There was drama galore but also hints of sweetness and even some laughter to balance it all… Outstanding! ~Diane, 4.5 stars

Where you go, I’ll go, because I don’t want this life without you in it.

Mine to Hold
is a spine tingling romantic suspense I author Kennedy L Mitchell.

Special Agent Bryson, a widowed single dad, doesn't hesitate when his best friend, Tallon, asks him to go stay with his younger sister and keep an eye on her. Pre his marriage him, Tallon and Tinley used to be thick as thieves, and he is not prepared for the more than friendly feelings she invokes in him when they come face to face. 10 years ago Tinley was held captive for 3 weeks where she suffered greatly physically and mentally. After a downward spiral she's finally started to really make progress in her healing. She's excited when Bryson shows up at her place for some R&R because she dreams of acting on the feelings she always buried for him. Unfortunately, his stay is for more than she knows, and it isn't long before her life's in danger and her captor is closing in.

I’m a woman. A woman standing in front of the guy she’s always crushed on, hoping he feels the same pull. The connection I’ve never felt with anyone but you.

I can't decide which I like more, the main characters themselves or the plot. Tinley was a star, she was flawed but putting in the effort to work on her demons, and wasn't waiting around for someone else to save her. The serial killer and kidnapper in this book gave me chills. it made me want to look over my shoulder every 5 seconds because It made me feel like someone was watching me. I was literally on the edge of my seat waiting for him to strike, and I wasn't ready for it. The whole book itself only takes place in a week which you would think would feel super rushed, but it wasn't because since they already had an established friendship their romance progression felt right.

"Every smile, every look makes me want to fall on my knees and worship you for the amazing woman you are. How can this be love when it feels like so much more here?” He rested his hand over his heart.

Then we have Bryson and Tinley, their relationship combined some of my favorite tropes. Bryson is a single father and his little one was precious, but she also really wasn't present in the story which took away from that trope for me, but the few times she was there it was the sweetest. An age gap, I loved that she would joke with him about being an old man but they never harped on the fact that they had a 10-year age gap between them, which was something I was grateful for. I liked that the relationship for them wasn't a ridiculous slow burn, it had just the right amount of sexual tension and pining without being dragged out. That was in part due to Tinley being very honest and upfront about her feelings thanks to all the work she does in therapy. The sex is a little playful and very steamy with Bryson being a delicious dominant alpha male in the bedroom.

She brought out the desire-driven madman who craved to devour her whole, consume every gasp and pant that crossed her lips because of me.

I'll be honest, The only reason this isn't getting a solid five stars is because of certain side characters' story. I felt like I was teased that they were queer characters and while they might be, they're both going to end up in straight relationships and I feel like it's a really missed opportunity for either an MM or genuine poly romance. I'm salty about it, I can't help it 😂

Mine's to Hold
by Kennedy L Mitchell is a highly entertaining romantic suspense . An age gap, best friends sister trope filled with danger, sexual chemistry, a sweet 2-year-old, family drama , snuggles, and comfort donuts.

Phenomenal.

4.5 stars.

This book was incredibly well written and I loved every minute of it. The story was captivating and I was absolutely hooked from the very first page.
From the main characters to the secondary ones, from the plot to Bryson and Tinley's romance, I couldn't stop reading it, and when I was forced to do so, it was begrudgingly.

The pace was electrifying and the plot was solid. I was on edge most of the time and my mind was reeling with information and wondering what was going on behind the scenes.

It was also impossible not to love Bryson and Tinley.
They offered so much, not only to each other's lives but to the story as well. They were strong and resilient, and even after everything they've been through, after losing so much in life (including their innocence), they still had enough fight and hope in them to love and be loved.

They were a work in progress, but they knew as much and they did their due diligence to be better for each other, for their loved ones, and for themselves.
The respect they devoted to each other was inspiring. They believed in each other, they were supportive and they brought the best the other had to give.

And if that wasn't enough, their chemistry was scorching hot. It was almost palpable at times how compatible and in tune they were.
With each book this author writes, I fall more and more in love with her complex characters.

I can't wait for the next book!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series, and I definitely LOVE LOVE LOVE Kennedy L. Mitchell's writing style as all her books are my jam AND perfect in my eyes. Tinley has gone through something so traumatic that she's been doing all kinds of self destruction things trying to forget, but luckily, she seems to be quite a bit better as of late. Bryson is the best friend of Tinley's older & overprotective brother, so when said brother asks Bryson to keep an eye on Tinley, he doesn't even need to think about it. See, Tinley's past has caught up to her again, so she's in a great deal of danger but no one knows who that danger is so Bryson & Tallon (Tinley's brother) are determined to keep her safe. It sure doesn't hurt that Tinley has had a secret thing for Bryson, and he feels it as well but he's reluctant to act on it because of bro code, however the chemistry they have makes that impossible. This story has it all, heat in spades, tons of angst, and those amazing twists that come in hot to keep my heart rate up. I certainly hope Tallon gets his own story soon as I NEED IT BADLY LOL! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It’s been a decade since Tinley was taken and endured a harrowing experience so even though she has made great strides in overcoming the aftereffects she will never forget what she has been through. With her brother out of town she has begun to feel uneasy but is unsure if it reality or fear so Bryon’s offer to stay with her couldn’t have come at a better time.

Bryson is best friends with Tinley’s brother Tallon so when he asks Bryson to protect his sister as he has concerns that the past isn’t over, he doesn’t hesitate to agree. He has always had feelings for Tinley but so much has happened in their lives between her abduction and him becoming a single father after his wife passed away that he didn’t believe they could be together either in the past or in the present.

Suspense that keeps you on edge, surprises that keep coming and two people who are finally ready to acknowledge their feelings for each other add up to a story you won’t be able to put down.

Wow! What a freaking rollercoaster and I loved every minute. This book had me on the edge of my seat and to top it off had a sexy as hell alpha! Best friends Tallon and Bryson are both in government agencies. Ten years ago, Tallon's younger sister Tinley escaped a serial killer. Bryson has a crush on Tinley but she's his best friend's little sister and there's an age difference. He moved on, got married and has a little girl. His wife passed away and he struggles with that in more ways than one raising his daughter. Until Tallon calls and asks Bryson if he could go stay with Tinley to keep an eye on her because a string of cases he is working on seem to have the same MO as the serial killer that took Tinley.

Tinley also starts to feel she is being watched and is getting weird vibes from places and certain people. So when Bryson shows up she is more then happy to have him around. Not to mention she wants to jump his bones! Their chemistry is off the freaking charts and Bryson is like a super alpha...so hot! I needed a cigarette after some of their sexy scenes! Needless to say these two set the pages on fire while keeping Tinley from her serial killer. I can't wait for some other characters in future books. There is a special person who I wanted to see get taken by the serial killer. The woman is pure evil and you get to see a peek of things she has done in the past. I'd like to see a book about her and the karma coming back to bite her ass! I highly recommend this book but set yourself up cozy and with some snacks because you will not want to put this book down!

As usual this series and author just gets better and better. Hence she is and will always be one of my favourite suspense writers.
This took me longer than usual to read as I was enjoying it so much that I didn't want to miss a single detail.
I had already added it to my top reads list in my head (I write reviews as soon as I've finished) when I was barely a few chapters in.
This will not be an easy read for many, but boy is it worth it.
I really wish I could gush about the female main character and what she goes through, both past and present, but doing so will give major plot points away. But know she and the others in this book (especially little bit) will etch a place in your heart.
Already eagerly awaiting the next book.
I won't be forgetting this book for a long time.

I went into this book with high expectations and Kennedy Mitchell exceeded them like always with this series. This book has a perfect balance of steamy and story. Bryson has been through the ringer and yet he is still gentle hearted and loving, while also being willing to burn the world for the ones he loves. Tinley has been through utter hell and she epitomizes picking yourself up by the bootstraps and speaking your mind. Her characters, as always for me, are relatable and attainable in such a realistic way that it makes you feel like you are in the story. The villain is the creepiest one yet for me! The prologue had unease settling in me and anxious for the ending to get that guy behind bars. This is the first book of the series that leaves the tiniest of cliffhangers to have you chomping at the bit for the next installment! Be mindful of the trigger warnings going in, this installment is darker than previous ones.

Another winner from this author, lots of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. Bryson & Tinley sizzle the pages, I was fully invested in them as a couple and was rooting for them to get their happy ever after. I loved that Tinley was very open and said what she was thinking, it was quite refreshing! She is so strong especially after what she went through in the past. Bryson was super hot! I loved the relationship he has with his daughter, she was so cute. The villain was extra creepy so heed the warning!

“Where you go, I’ll go, because I don’t want this life without you in it.”

KLM is a master at romantic suspense and Mine To Hold is no exception. With strong, fully developed characters that will take your breath away, it’s a crazy, romantic, suspense-filled rollercoaster ride from the first page to the last.

“But you stayed the same, no matter my ups or downs. Always treated me like I was more than what happened to me, more than my vices to help me fade away, to block it all out.”

Tinley is such a broken yet strong character. The darkness of her past is so painful yet she’s found a way to begin to move forward. She has always been in love with Bryson and when the threats from her past reappear and they become roommates, she decides that it’s time to reveal her true feelings. He is the only one who truly sees her inner strength and believes that she is capable of change.

“You’re the fresh air I’ve long been suffocating for. Every smile, every look makes me want to fall on my knees and worship you for the amazing woman you are. How can this be love when it feels like so much more here?”

I knew I already loved Bryson, but I love him even more now. He’s been attracted to his best friend’s little sister for years and once he finds out that the feeling is mutual, he will let nothing come between them. He’s fiercely protective and loyal. Once he commits to loving someone, his focus never wavers and he will risk anything to ensure they are safe. It’s incredibly sexy.

“All I know is that this between us is beyond anything I’ve ever felt. When you’re not around, you’re all I think about. You’re in my dreams and somehow my reality too.”

The chemistry between these two is smoking!! They light the pages on fire. More than that, they truly believe in each other and lift one another up. Bryson gives Tinley the strength to believe in herself and she breathes life back into Bryson’s life. Together, they are able to face any obstacle even in the face of danger and bring the light back to each other’s lives.

Mine To Hold will keep you guessing with its heart-stopping suspense while also making you FEEL. The love story between Bryson and Tinley is a beautiful showcase of courage and strength found in love. This fast-paced romantic suspense story is sure to keep you turning the pages late into the night.

Are you read for this next book in the series? It can be read as a standalone but I feel the interconnected characters give us much more depth if they are read in series order. Be prepared for some edge of your seat suspense while watching two people who have been drawn to each other for years let the chemistry sizzle for once.

Tinley was taken and held captive for weeks over 10 years ago. She has struggled since then to get her life back on track. To learn to trust people and feel safe. She still struggles with the final words from her captor "he will be back". When the strange feeling of being watched starts to happen again, she feels she has nobody to turn to. Worried people won't believe her. Until Bryson arrives for a surprise visit while her brother is away on a case. She has always felt a closeness to Bry over the years.

Bryson is living life as a single dad after loosing his wife to an accident a couple of years ago. Trying to do his best raise his sweet little girl with love and happiness. Thankful for his mother her is close by as being an FBI agent can pull him away more than he likes. When is best friend calls and asks for a favor, keep an eye on his sister and check out a case, he can't say no. When he see Tinley for the first time in years, she awakens something that has been dormant for a while. But will Bryson cross the imaginary line?

As the attraction starts to build, so does the concern and worry. Soon Tinley is sharing all her secrets, trying to get them one step ahead of the threat. Will her secrets send Bryson running for the hills? Will he believe her where many have not in the past? Can they find this guy and keep Tinley safe?

Ms. Mitchell has an ability to weave a strong suspenseful story with a good mix of romance to keep everyone happy. Looking forward to Talon's story.

Kennedy L. Mitchell writes the most captivating romantic suspense and Mine to Hold is no exception. Bryson and Tinley's edgy and sizzling hot journey will keep you glued to the pages from the beginning to the end.

FBI agent Bryson Bennett has a busy job and he is single parent to three year old Victoria. But he drops everything when his best friend and agent Tallon calls him to take care of his sister Tinley for few days. She was kidnapper and abused few years ago and she is still building her life. Now a serial killer and sex offender is on lose and Tallon is scared. Tinley always had feelings for Bryson. Is it her chance? Or will the monster catch her?

Bryson is just like my military hero obsession. He is rough and protective and possessive. His confidence and his special skills are a big turn on for me. And Tinley too. I have so much respect for this woman. She has been broken and ruined but she has never let go. She is picking up the pieces and she won't stop. She has so many scars but she is still beautiful inside out. Bryson and Tinley are somehow forbidden but they have a connection that is hard to ignore. The chemistry is just perfect. Steamy. Angsty. And sometimes witty. The plot is complex. The cat and mouse game between the killer and the agencies was exciting and engrossing. You will be at the edge of your seat. The thriller component of the story is brilliantly executed. There is gore and darkness and you have to be aware of the triggers. What I loved most is Tinley finally rescued herself and Bryson was there to protect her from the aftermath.

Kennedy L. Mitchell creates the most intriguing prologues and as soon as I read this one, I was most definitely all in. Once again, Kennedy didn’t disappoint me as Mine To Hold is another fantastic addition to the Protection series and words cannot express how addictive this storyline is. It’s also dark, suspenseful, and extremely deep, intense and creative.

Despite the fact that Tinley Harper was abducted ten years ago and she’s the epitome of a damaged, tragic and broken heroine, it doesn’t mean she’s a victim or a shrinking wallflower. She’s a fighter and one heck of a brave woman. Once again, she’s being faced with danger and it’s up to Agent Bryson Bennett to keep her safe. There’s a smoldering and undeniable attraction between these two however, there are complications given Bryson is ten years older, he’s a single dad and he’s Tinley’s brother best friend. Lines are definitely blurred and crossed and I was ecstatic about that considering they have steamy, naughty and very arousing sex.

Mine To Hold had me on the edge of my seat at times and there are plot twists that I didn’t see coming. This is an excellent five star book for so many reasons and I highly recommend reading it.

I have enjoyed all of the books from Kennedy Mitchell as there is the perfect amount of spice along with so intense suspense with how the book plays out. This was no different when you have a creepy stalker who makes good on his word. Then the best friends sister is in his crosshairs again but comes back into Bryson's life just when he needed it.

I can always count on a edge of your seat story with a little romance and fun times reading Kennedy's books. This can be read as a standalone but I would always suggest reading the others in the series as they are just as amazing as this one. There are also some supporting characters from the other books in this one which always make a series just so much more to read.

KLM will forever be my favorite romantic suspense author!! Her writing and storytelling just gets better and better with each book. This book had me on the edge of my seat from the Prologue - holding my breath, trying to slow my heart rate - and I couldn't wait for what was to come in this addictive and sexy dark thriller.

Bryson & Tinley are everything forbidden - brother's best friend, age gap, and they are FIRE together!!!! From their pasts to their upturned present to their unknown future, they just make sense together. These two were made for each other and I loved every minute of them, especially at home with Bryson's daughter and mom where the ease of their "family" fell into place so naturally. Their relationship was organic, real and raw and it bled off the pages.

The dark storyline is fast-paced, suspenseful and all-consuming. We are talking stalkers, the dark web, captivation, and ALLLLL the dark things. I loved it. I was completely drawn in from the start and my heart was in my throat until the last page. Not only did I fall for the H/h but the side characters as well. There are 3 in particular whose story I CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on. I never want this series to end. Well done once again KL Mitchell!!! BRAVO!!!

5 PHENOMENAL 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

I think this is my favourite,  because Holy crap, it's dark and steamy two of my favourite combinations. It's book 5 in Kennedy's Protection series and the more she releases the better they get.
Bryson is doing everything that he can to keep tinley safe, living side by side with years of attraction makes the sexual tension palpable and I was so here for it, every single page I was gripped,  the tension, angst, fear, heartache kept me on my toes throughout, I went through every single emotion, I can generally get a feel of where the story is going..I had no clue, it completely knocked me on my arse. Another phenomenal addition to the series, another hot as hell alpha 😍

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥.5
POV: Dual 1st Person
M/F
Stand Alone? Technically this story could be read as a stand alone. However, due to some character crossover the series is best enjoyed in order.

Kennedy L Mitchell is an automatic buy for me. I honestly haven’t read a single book by her that hasn’t warranted a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating. The stories are always exceptional and not just the love story. The mysteries keep me guessing too. This book was no different.

I received this book on the day my husband came home from deployment. From. Deployment. I hadn’t seen him in months. I STILL couldn’t stop myself from reading this book! I read it slower than my normal speed for one of her books because…. Husband….. home…. Normally I devour the books but I have to say I was glad to have the distraction this time as it made the enjoyment of this book last.

I have been looking forward to this book for a few reasons. One being the age gap aspect ( I adore an age gap romance as there is an age gap between me and my husband), the single father aspect as I love a good single dad story, and the brother’s best friend trope because WHO doesn’t love a good BBF story. Also, when we met Bryson in the last book of the series, his situation was so heartbreaking and I just really wanted to see him happy.

This book did NOT disappoint. It was an action packed, edge of your seat, creepy stalker, hot as hades, single dad protector romance that will definitely be gracing my shelves (and not just my Kindle) ASAP. I am absolutely obsessed with these books and can NOT wait for the next one!

4.25 stars-- MINE TO HOLD is the fifth instalment in Kennedy L Mitchell’s contemporary, adult PROTECTION erotic, dark, romantic suspense series. This is forty year old, FBI agent Bryson Bennett, and thirty year old bar waitress Tinley Harper’s story line. MINE TO HOLD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. FBI Agent Bryson Bennett was previously introduced in book four MINE TO KEEP.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Tinley and Bryson) MINE TO HOLD follows the search for a serial killer. Ten years earlier Tinley Harper was abducted and held hostage for three weeks, three weeks in which her brother FBI Agent Tallon Harper nearly lost his mind. Fast forward to present day wherein a suspected serial killer is abducting and murdering women using the same MO from when Tinley was missing, a killer who continues to target our story line heroine. In an effort to protect his sister, Tallon calls in his best friend and FBI Agent Bryson Bennett, the man who had unknowingly stolen Tinley’s heart years before. What ensues is the building relationship between Tinley and Bryson, and the potential fall-out as a killer sets their sight on everyone Tinley loves.

Bryson Bennett is a single father having lost his wife to a car accident months before but helping Tallon meant coming face to face with the woman who for years has starred in his fantasies and dreams, a woman whose past is mired in demons and darkness. Tinley Harper knows evil first hand but when the past resurfaces, targeting family and friends, Tinley knows it is only a matter of time before she will have to face her worst nightmare. With Bryson’s help, Tinley battles her demons, demons that are about to come full circle.

The relationship between Tinley and Bryson is a best friend’s sister/age gap romance in which Bryson believes Tinley is off limits but Tinley has been in love with her brother’s best friend for most of her life, and our heroine is willing to take the steps to prove she is worthy of Bryson’s love. Bryson has loved and lost but never expected to find happiness with Tinley Harper,a woman who has suffered more than he could have ever imagined. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate-Bryson is a bit of a dominant in the bedroom.

The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and energetic. We are introduced to Tinley’s brother Tallon, their mother Bethany Parker, and stepbrother Bart Parker; Bryson’s mother Esther, and his daughter Victoria, as well as the return of FBI profiler Charlie Bekham and Special Agent Rhyan Riggs (Mine To Keep 4).

MINE TO HOLD is a story of obsession and madness, abuse and power, family and dysfunctional relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing, dramatic and intense; the romance is provocative and edgy; the characters are resilient, determined and charismatic.

this was an interesting book. it definitely delved into darker subjects that even i wasn’t particularly aware of and honestly the world is a cruel world why do we still live in it ??? but before i go through with my existential crisis, i need to let out all my feelings about this book.

like i said, this was a very interesting book. it delved into a lot of darker material and concepts with a good discussion of trauma and recovery. i loved how different kinds of trauma was discussed, the trauma of a survivor, the trauma of the family member, the trauma of the death of a loved one, and how one bad incident can cause such a ripple effect on everyone, not just the victim/survivor. it also handled the topic of mental health really well and incorporated a realistic view on how trauma and moving on can be so devastatingly difficult. i really appreciate the sensitvity and realistic portrayal of this in the story.

another thing i actually loved was the prologue. if you’ve been reading through the series, you’d know that the prologue usually shows the bad guy’s pov and how they prey on innocent people. i didn’t really think much about it when reading the prologue, but going through the book, it became more evident how well placed the prologue in this book was. it gave you the chills while waiting for the impending doom because at the back of your mind, you also knew the pov of the bad guy. among all the books in the series, the prologue in this book had the largest and long lasting effect on the reader, really pushing the suspense and thrill on what’s going to happen. i loved the factor the prologue gave. the experience of reading the book with that niggling thought at the back of your mind makes you so hooked to the book. it makes you want to read more because oh shit what’s going to happen next?!?!?!

the book also introduced a lot of new characters while also maintaining older characters. i actually really loved the incorporation of this in the book. charlie and rhyan i love u forever. then seeing the groundwork for the next book made my eyebrows raise. i’m a bit nervous going into that because i’m scared it’ll be a love triangle and i hate those but i think it’ll be an interesting turn of events. besides that, i love tallon and jameson’s characters. i can already feel the tension between them and i just know there’s gonna be a lot more of that with remy soon. i don’t quite know what to make of remy yet but she seems like a badass woman and i do love badass women.

in line with the characters, Tinley and Bryson’s characters were well-developed and written. the depth given to them was great. but they lacked the chemistry I hoped for, and I feel like their getting together might’ve been a bit too quick for me. it’s sort of implied that it’s an accumulation of what they’ve been feeling separately, but I didn’t really get a glimpse of that, so it felt like they got together immediately anyway.

another thing i’d have liked was the scene of tinley stabbing vincent. i feel like it would’ve been so therapeutic to see the closure of tinley coming to her killing the guy. there’s that sense of peace just knowing that it was tinley who got her final say in that morbid relationship. just relieving it notched down the climactic feeling of success for the reader which is a pity. or that might just me 😭 and of course, i'd love to see bart get effed off by tallon and bry <333 :DD i don't mind the rundown with the mom because she doesn't deserve more of that anyways

overall i'd say i covered all i want to say? the writing here, i'd say, is consistent with the previous books. it pull you in and keeps you on your toes. but the placement itself of the prologue ugh *chef's kiss* i'm never getting over that.

I knew Kennedy Mitchell was going to come with her game for Bryson in book five of this series and man, she did not disappoint! All books are standalones but do have interconnected characters and storyline.

FBI agent, Bryson Bennett has been through the ringer the past few years; actually more than a few if he stops lying to himself. Ever since his best friend's sister was kidnapped ten years ago, he's been on edge. Add to that stress, a marriage on the rocks, then a tragic accident leaving him a single father and you've got one exhausted guy. But when his best friend calls to ask him to look after his not-so-little sister while he's away on business, there's no way he could say no; not to Tallon, not for Tinley. He'd do absolutely anything for them.

Tinley has struggled to put her life back together for years after the abduction. Using drugs, alcohol and sex to numb the pain hasn't worked but finally she's sober and has a great therapist helping her do the hard work to heal. Unfortunately it doesn't stop her from constantly thinking someone is watching her though. So when her childhood friend and current crush, turns up at her door, she's delighted to welcome him to stay while Tallon is away. It doesn't take long for the crush to crash over her in a big way. Bryson is the best man she knows, he's smart, loyal, and protects those he loves. Plus he's got a dominant, alpha side that lights her panties on fire. But when weird things start happening, they realize it might not be paranoia after all. Can they outrun the past, handle a man with a sick obsession in the present and find their way to a beautiful future or will the man from the shadows win?

This book had all my feels in a blender from the first few pages. I've loved Bryson Bennett since the beginning of the series and knew his story was going to be a doozy and it sure the heck was. Tinley broke my freaking heart. I was in awe of her strength. She deserves something good to happen and Bryson is that good. Like gooooooood. This man was delicious. I loved his character before but damn, the dominant side was HOT. Kennedy Mitchell kept us guessing from start to finish and the creep factor was super strong with this one. Finishing the book at 4am wasn't my best plan but it was too good to put down; I'll admit I almost left the lights on! This book was amazing and o can't wait for Tallon's book, that teaser was...wow!

"You're the fresh air I've long been suffocating for."

This was another great addition to the Protection series. A single dad romance, this one was both steamy and had a gripping stalker/murder mystery. Bryson Bennett has his hands full with his 2 year old daughter, his job as a special agent, and getting over the death of his late wife. When Bryson's college friend Tallon Harper calls asking him to watch over his younger sister, Bryson doesn't hesitate. Tinley Harper has gone through hell and is rebuilding her life for the past 10 years. She was abducted when she was younger, and though she's making progress through therapy, she feels like she's being watched and that her abductor will soon be back to finish the job. Being around Bryson makes her feel safe, but she's also feeling a lot of emotions for Bryson, the man she's loved when she was young.

Bryson was definitely oblivious to Tinley's feelings, but props to her for being honest with her feelings and expressing this early on in the book. It gives them both time to work through their emotions and to develop their relationship. I really love how strong Tinley was, and how she worked so hard to overcome the past trauma. She realizes her progress is ongoing and important to her life without fear, and though she feels safe with Bryson, in the end, she really saved herself. I think she takes back a lot of her own power and learns that she can trust herself and her own feelings, not looking to others for validation. I also really like Bryson, and he was so caring and protective of Tinley. He always loved her, supported her, and believed her, and that made him the best man for her. I think they really complimented each other, and found home with each other, especially one filled with passion and love and security.

I kind of wish Bryson went full BDSM or something. He was a bossy and dominant, but I didn't know if that was the intent. I am also SO INTERESTED in Tallon, Jameson, and Remington, and REALLY want a HEA for all three of them!
