Peyton Clark #3

Brown Eyed Ghoul

Rate this book
The last thing Peyton Clark wants to do is visit the evil voodoo witch, Guarda, again. But once she promises two elderly and kind ladies that she will solve the missing-person case of their long dead relative, she realizes there’s no way around it.

With the help of Guarda’s magic, Peyton will find herself in 1910 New York with none other than Drake Montague, the twentieth century policeman, who used to haunt her house but now haunts her body… and her heart.

While Drake and Peyton begin to unravel the mystery, Peyton can’t help the fact that she’s deeply attracted to Drake, regardless of the fact that her very real boyfriend, Ryan, is back in her own time, eagerly awaiting her return.

I’m a huge fan of anything paranormal and I always have been. I get super excited whenever they have those Twilight Zone Marathon days and anything ghost or vampire related will always attract my attention.

My interests are varied but aside from writing, I’m most excited about traveling. I’m extremely fortunate to have been able to live in England and Scotland, both places really having a profound effect on my books.

Thanks for checking out my books and I hope you enjoy them! Happy Haunting!

This series does not get enough love in my opinion! I love Peyton and Drake. They are two of my favorite characters and just love their friendship and interaction all the time!

I know Drake is ghost but I shipped this two so bad and their interactions between them are just so heartbreaking because they are Really meant for each other if it was for the whole dead thing

I love the little mysteries that play out in the story and really curious to see how this overall story plays out know that Peyton has finally admired how much she loves Drake

I have been so behind on so many of my favorite series so I was so excited to finally sit down and finish this book.

It was so good ya'll we FINALLY learned even more about Drake. I just love him. I admit I wanted a bit more from their relationship but I get why we may not have gotten what I wanted.

I loved that this story has a very good historical telling. I just feel like Mallory does a fantastic job researching time periods for this series, because while it is more modern PN romance, I love when we get a little historical romance thrown in... read the book and you will understand what I mean.

I love all of the characters in this series. I love how all of her books are always such delightful page turners I can never put down. I literally spent two days reading and catching up on books... this book is why I have a pile of laundry I need to finish! Such a delightful and fun book!

I enjoyed this story very much until the end. I loved how Peyton got to see how life was in 1910 in NY and got to be with Drake in the flesh. Her quest to go back in time to help Dorothy’s ghost to become unstuck in the past made the adventure very interesting.

SPOILER ALERT: What I didn’t like was the ending because it made Peyton look selfish and immature. Her obsession with Drake, who has been dead for hundreds of years, over Ryan, who is alive and gives her everything, turned me off. I usually love HP’s stories which often have love triangles in them but this one makes me hurt for Ryan.

She does it again!!!!

I loved this addition to the Peyton Clark series! It was fantastic! Drake has to be one of my favorite characters and HP has a way of always making me root for the underdog in every series she writes! I literally CANNOT wait for the next one, but the author has been pumping out novels like crazy this year so hopefully it will be soon!
I highly recommend this series and anything by HP Mallory if you love urban fantasy, a quirky sense of humor, and sexual tension with a man that lives in your head!

I am loving this series. Peyton gets herself into quirky jams. This book focus is going back to reunite a mother with a child, and that childs daughter. Alice’s story is so complex and throws a few twists in the mix. I do wonder if the doctor was really the father, or maybe someone else. It was only hinted at by Junior. Drake has a more predominant role in this book. He is featured in other books, sure by you learn so much more about him. And with that ending I think more will come to light. I did wish the ending was less abrupt. It like here's this new twist, but you won't know until later what’s up. My imagination is running wild. I think that soon there will be a few twists where Peyton will need to make some choices, and soon. If you haven't read the others in the series, do that first so you can be up to speed before diving into this installment. I am hoping it won't be too long for the next. This series and a few of H.P. Mallory’s others is on my must read list when they first pop up. Awesome read, characters you’ll adore, plots that keeps you engaged, what else could you ask for. Other than it being about a thousand pages, so the book never stops.

I sat down and devoured this book in one evening . Peyton , Ryan Drake and the gang are back . This time to help save a woman from going missing . As they head back in time again Drake and Peyton are in for the adventure of a lifetime .
The characters are getting better and better with each story. Drake is really yummy in this book and we get to see so much more of his life before he became a ghost . Ryan is still sexy as sin and yes I want to climb him like a spider monkey . Peyton has grown a lot since the last book . She has come to terms with what she can do . There is a plot twist at the end that will not tell you but its kind of sad in a way. Garda lovie and the rest of the cast of characters are up to their usual antics as well .
The author takes us back to a time and place where woman were delicate flowers and the men were menly men . The story is well written and the characters are becoming more and more complex . This series is becoming one of my favourite series to read . So if you want an enjoyable evening read check out this series .

Peyton planned to not have any more dealings with the sketchy witch, Guarda, but her latest mission, leads her right back to Guarda's door. In order to help her new friends, Peyton must travel back to 1910. And she gets to take Drake, in the flesh, along for the adventure.

Peyton's friends need help finding out what happened to their long-lost relative. All they know is she abandoned her child as an infant. They hope knowing will give their mother/grandmother closure before she passes on. How can Peyton turn down such a simple request?

BROWN EYED GHOUL is the third installment in the PEYTON CLARK series. It delves further into the spiritual world surrounding Peyton. Peyton's budding relationship with Drake, the ghost, finally blossoms. I'm a little sad to say that I'm team Drake now. I loved Ryan, but Drake and Peyton just have a stronger connection, and I have some secret reasons (I won't say so I don't reveal any spoilers) for falling out of love with Ryan. I can't wait to see where book four takes them. I give BROWN EYED GHOUL 3.5 stars.

I loved the story the mystery was great but I really do struggle with the triangle between Peyton, Ryan and Drake I honestly don't get why, to be honest I do like Ryan but he is not over his dead wife which is unfair to Peyton how can you tell a woman you love her when you still think of you dead wife as 'your wife' like she is still alive and seriously Peyton might have feelings for Ryan and Drake but it reads as though her feelings for Drake and their connections are stronger I would just prefer the mystery side of the plot to be stronger but my mind always gets stuck in this uncomfortable triangle.

Fantastic!!!

Absolutely loved this installment in the Peyton Clark
series! This story line was a real page turner and an
up-all-nighter. Once I got into it it grabbed me and
wouldn't let go. Drake is a great ghost and I enjoy his
humor immensely. All the characters are entertaining
and make for a fabulous mystery. I would rate this
more than a 5 if I could. Hope the next book comes
out REAL soon!!!!

Couldnt put down

You will not be let down by this series! Can't believe I waited so long to read this series. HP never lets you down with her books. They are fast paced, full of roamance and suspense. You will not regret a minute!

I really enjoyed the book. I thought the plot was good and the book had good pacing. What made this a four star Instead of a five star was Peyton was a little annoying this time around. There were several times I really wanted her to shut up.

I will still read the next one to see where this goes.

Great ghost tale

I really enjoyed reading this book. If you enjoy tales of ghosts, voodoo and spiritual happenings in New Orleans with an oddly supernatural love triangle of sorts, then you'll enjoy reading this book.

Payton is stuck with having to visit the voodoo shop. Having to go back in time and figure out what is going on to help two elder ladies. She always seems to want to help. The love triangle is a mess. I am hoping it doesn't become a RH. Still rooting for Drake. Ryan has issues.

These books are so bad, but I just keep reading them. This one just straight up restarted 20% through, recapping things that had JUST happened. But gosh, she does right good romantic tension.

Can Peyton save Dorothy’s ghost without losing herself?
Brown Eyed Ghoul by H.P. Mallory is stupendous. I love the way that H.P. Mallory combines mystery, paranormal, and history to make a fabulous story.
Peyton Clark
Peyton can’t seem to say no, when someone asks her for help, even if that help may come at a personal debt to Peyton. It seems that the more she is told that she shouldn’t do it the more she wants to do it. I believe she is just an extremely caring person.

However, Peyton has got to figure out some things, on the personal side, and on the ghost hunting side. Let’s hope that she figures it out before she can’t anymore.
The Favor
Ada and her daughter Jill come to ask Peyton to help Ada’s mother, Alice and her birth mother Dorothy Arnold’s ghost. Alice who is deceased recently came to Ada when Ada passed away for a few minutes in the hospital and told her that her birth mother Dorothy’s ghost was unreachable. Alice won’t cross over until Dorothy can. So, here lies the favor. Peyton will have to travel back in time to figure out what happened to Dorothy before she can help Dorothy’s ghost.
You have a talent for getting yourself into trouble, ma minette, Drake said.

The look on Ryan’s face emphasized Drake’s sentiments. He shifted his weight in his chair and gave me an uneasy look.

Mallory, H.P.. Brown Eyed Ghoul: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (The Peyton Clark Series Book 3) (Kindle Locations 1226-1228). Kindle Edition.

However, for Peyton to be able to travel back in time Peyton must see Guarda, the voodoo priestess. The last time Peyton dealt with Guarda, it wasn’t fun. So, this will not be easy.
A time past
The time in the history is my favorite part. Peyton and Drake travel back to early 1910 New York City. I think this is where H.P. Mallory’s storytelling truly shines. I could see the whole scene as it unfolded for Peyton. Drake was such an asset to have with her, as he had spent time in New Your City in his younger days. So, Drake was able to get around the city in ways that Peyton would never have been able to do.

I don’t want to spoil anything from this part as you need to read this book. Oh yes, remember how in every mention of time travel we are told that you can’t change the past or there will be consequences in the future. I am guessing that you just being where you weren’t before will change your current/future situation.

The return trip was slightly bumpy with some unexpected issues. Then we see some of those consequences may already be in play before Peyton is fully back in 2018. Again, I won’t tell, but you should read the book.
5 Stars for Brown Eyed Ghoul by H.P. Mallory
Brown Eyed Ghoul by H.P. Mallory gets a five stars rating. I adored the story. I stayed up and finished it. I tried to go to bed, but I couldn’t get Peyton out of my head. I am so glad that H.P. Mallory decided to continue with Peyton’s story. I highly recommend this book and series.
