Isaac Kramnick was an American political theorist, historian of political thought, political scientist, and the Richard J. Schwartz Professor of Government at Cornell University. He was a subject-matter expert on English and American political thought and history.
okay this was a book for my class but i read the entire thing so it counts. honestly, a very solid collection of political thinkers and their works. provided a lot of different perspectives on topics so you can get a real view for how politics works today.
American Political Thought, final semester of college. I remember writing essays on this from Sarah's Madison apartment. Lots of good socialism and feminism stuff in the later-half.
I admittedly Have not read every piece in here, but I have read a majority and have found it to be an excellent collection of some of the best works of American Political thought. It covers not just the great white men of our history (shich are often the focus of the study of American History) but tremendous black leaders, women, anarchists, etc.
Get to know American through the letters which guided it... The only disappointing thing about this collection is how vacant it gets towards the end - are we really becoming that much less interesting?
This is a nice, diverse collection of pieces spanning from 1620 to the present. The only downside is that a lot of these are long excerpts since they come from all kinds of sources.
