A great introduction to the history of the piano. The author begins by tracing the piano’s origins and technical developments from the flimsy early instruments of the 1700s to the massive concert grands that grace the concert halls of the world today. The author then continues with an overview of the musical forms the piano has influenced from the Baroque era to the Jazz age. Finally, the author profiles the major composers and performers who have left a mark on pianistic artistry. Over 200 beautiful pictures and illustrations complete this book.

Actualizaré pero de momento solo esto: no me gusta nada lo que pone sobre Martha Argerich. Es súper machista. ¿De verdad no podía poner algo mejor que ESO (que encima es una crítica, no se lo creen ni ellos) sobre la que básicamente es la mejor pianista viva? Es un libro antiguo y pasa lo de siempre, aunque a día de hoy no estamos mucho mejor. Por lo demás, el libro está genial. Le quito la estrella por Argerich. Por cierto, hace poco fue su cumpleaños y sigue tocando de lujo. Viva esa mujer. 🎹
