completely useless book for me. I talk to my dogs and they seem to hear just fine. I was hoping there would be more lessons on how to train.

I love reading about dogs - such a soft spot! I enjoyed the narrative and learning about Cesar's life. I also like how he makes a big deal out of dogs needing adequate exercise to be well-behaved. It also supports my opinion that dogs should not be treated like humans and wear clothing!

Total let down. It just tells you what happened in each episode. I don't need to know what happens, I already watched it on TV! I was hoping for more training tips from Cesar, not just describing what happened on his show.

Interesting ideas. Some of Cesar Milan's techniques can be used with children.

Engaging and a good introduction, but ultimately not the positive approach I'm looking for.

This book summarizes episodes from the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, seasons 1-3. It also gives a few backstage tidbits, and a follow-up on some of the cases.

If you are a fan of the tv show, you've probably seen all these episodes so I'm not sure that this book would be necessary reading for you. But if you have seen some of the episodes and want to fill out your Cesar knowledge, you will probably find this interesting. It does not go into a lot of specifics of the training techniques Cesar used, though sometimes it will give tips that you can make note of. The chapters are short (1-2 pages) so you can put it down and come back later without feeling lost, which I always appreciate.

As a book on dog training I’d give it a 3, the TV series is way better. As an auto-biography it gets a 4. Cesar fans will love it. Rags to riches story of illegal Mexican immigrant who turns himself into a phenomenal success. Interesting how differently Mexican’s look at dogs than Westerner’s; dogs are dogs, not people wanna-be’s.
Read this a few years back, what stuck in my mind was the story he told about homeless people and their dogs. Cesar’s observation was they are often the happiest & best behaved dogs you’ll ever meet. Confident in their place in the pack, never suffering from separation anxiety, they get to roam & forage with their pack leader every day. I never considered that, like to believe it’s true. What a win-win situation, a great companion to stave off the loneliness and a happy dog...

Emily kept having nightmares that she was drowning. She didn't understand it until the night it was storming and the dream returned. When she awoke she was drawn to her window. She saw or sensed something out on the rocks in the water. It was as if it was pleading for help. Emily and her parents rescue the dog and take him to the vet. The connection between Emily and Zach are so strong she knows what he is thinking and feeling. What do these connections mean? This was an enjoyable book but I had a little bit of a problem with the human/dog psychic connection. All in all I would recommend this book for an easy read

I don't think this is the exact version of the book I read. However, this guy is amazing with animals. I read this entire book and don't even own a pet! Weird! However, if I owned a pet...I would be a pro...thanks to Cesar. He has taught himself to think like an animal and the way it lives in its natural life (not confined to a home). He uses that knowledge to understand their behavior and teach owners how to act like a "pack leader". It works wonders with dogs! His show on TV is a testament to how well his methods work.

I dont like the show the "Dog Whisperer", so I don't know why I read this (flipped through is more accurate), but I did nonetheless. Please don't misunderstand this rating or review as a shot at Cesar Millan, he is amazing and his new philosophy has revolutionized the dog world. So, onto business...... This book was good for those who love the show. It was visually stunning and the excerpts were informing without being boring. Personally I didn't find it all that thrilling but truth be told, it wasn't uninteresting.

I loved this book! He has such a calm and wise insight into animals. I loved the way he talks also about the positive energy animals use - something I try to utilize after reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I have found his methods very easy to use & am having great success with training Boone! Plus the common sense approach using exercise as a training tool has been good for the puppy & my whole family. It's a great way for us to bond with the dog & each other.

If anyone is trying to train dogs he is the guru. I learned that I need to control my inner energy while around them because they sense it and will react badly if I am angry or impatient. Never deal with them while angry. Before reading it Baily was naughty but now she is calm & cool because I am around her (except sometimes).

As a dog trainer, I was curious to read this one. I have seen quite a few episodes and thought it may be interesting. I felt the same way after this book as I do after an episode. Unfulfilled. I just feel like there's not enough information given. It was nice to read the success stories though. Who isn't a sucker for those?

I didn't like this book as well as the other book by this author, just because, he had two pages on individual dogs and their issues, so it wasn't as straight forward and helpful. It was nice to see some photos, was like watching short clips on TV of the show.

Zelo uporabna zadeva. Mirno-odločna energija kar veje iz te knjige, kar pa je najpomembnejše, napolni tudi bralca (vsaj mene je). Lastniki psov, priporočam. Morda tistim, ki jih na sprehod peljejo psi, namesto oni njih.

you're supposed to treat your dog as a dog, but I still can't help babying him sometimes.
I have been using the walking technique in the book, it's great.
