I feel bad for giving this 2 stars. It was written well enough; it just was boring. I still feel like Kenzie didn't really know Blaine all that well. He still hadn't told her the story of his time in France, how he got that nickname, smh. I wouldn't be marrying anyone if there was still a lot I didn't know about them.
I did like Blaine though, I thought he was hot. But I felt badly for Arran at the end of the book. He lost the girl who loved him first and then the lairdship...oh god 😂 poor guy
I forced myself to continue & finish reading because I wanted to know how the conflict was going to get resolved and how Kenzie was going to be able to marry Blaine.
Also, we don't even know things like was Kenzie a virgin? Was Blaine her second kiss? I gotta know these things.
I will say I think some readers will definitely appreciate how the author stuck to the Scottish dialect...for example, "I couldnae"

War comes between the two Laids, and Kenzie's father is killed by Arran's father. Kenzie is sent away to live in ST. Andrews for many long years.
A peace is brokered after Arran's father dies and to unite the clans, Arran, the new Laird, is to marry👰 Kenzie💃💋.
Kenzie 💃💋assumes it is Arran who arrives to escort her back to his highland castle 🏰. Instead, it is now tall, muscled and magnificent Blaine🐺💪🔪, but Kenzie💃💋 doesn't realize it until hours later!
I really enjoyed the book, but there are a few story continuity gaps along the way. Great Plot!

A Promise to Be Kept written by Darcy Armstrong was a fantastic story in my personal opinion. This was a very well written story that really captured my heart. I thought the story flowed well and the characters were extremely lovable. This story grabbed me from the very start and I could not read it fast enough. This was a story with family drama, action, a touch of suspense and most definitely love. Blaine McCaskill is doing his duty for his brother Arran the Laird by escorting his betrothed home, Kenzie McPhee is on her way to marry the man who was her childhood love and to bring peace to the two clans. But sometimes things just don't always go as planed. I really enjoyed this book and absolutely loved the characters and I highly recommend this book.

Blaine and Kenzie.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. The main characters, Blane and Kenzie were well developed and I like the way the author switched perspectives from Blaine to Kenzie with each chapter. Blaine has loved Kenzie since they were children but Kenzie loved his brother Aaron. After years of fighting between their clans, an arranged marriage between Kenzie and Aaron is set to end the feuding. Laird Aaron sends Blaine to collect Kenzie and their journey begins. Great storyline, characters, and enough steam and excitement to keep reading.

Somewhat complicated Scottish Highlander novel with original dialect throughout about a pre-planned marriage between two clans for the purpose of peace. However, in all the twists and turns, Kenzie falls in love with Blaine who retrieves her during their journey home, not the brother Laird Arron, only to realize deceitfulness greets them at the castle. Typical Scottish tale mixed with gore and sex involved, but with an original plot to untangle. Lovely cover and entertaining read for those who enjoy this genre.

This book was a DNF at 60%! I have ready many Scottish novels and nope not even close. The biggest turn off was that she gave her virginity away willingly and unmarried and she was betrothed to another. This is very unlikely to happen especially with the brother who was held in such high regard.
The reason for the 2 stars was it was told from alternating POV’s, had great use of period language and was written in the correct time period.
Biggest issues: little to no angst, insta-love and a horrible sex scenes (not well described). Skip this book. Way better ones out there!

This was a very captivating story for my heart. This is one of those stories that grab you from the start. The story was filled with the right kind of family drama plus the right amount of action and a dash of suspense. Blaine McCaskill is doing his duty by escorting his brothers betrothed home. Kenzie McPhee is on her way to marry the man that will bring peace to the two clans. But as we all know sometimes things don't go as should.

The first book in the Legacy of the Laird series a well written story with a very good storyline. Kenzie McPhee and Blaine McCaskill's story will have twists, turns, drama, suspense, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Duty vs Love
I enjoyed reading this crazy love story... The journey Kenzie endured was some what of an adventure! I'm happy Aaran found out the truth and made amends. Blaine and Kenzie finally had their happily ever after but it some getting there? I was worried but so glad it all came together! Looking forward to the next book, thank you.

The Scot of her choice
What can I say. Such great characters! In a time when women had no say over their destiny sometimes it worked out perfectly. I loved that true love was found and there was a happily ever after. I recommend this book to all the Scottish loving generations and anyone who loved that era.

Alternate ending: Blaine and his crew surround the MacDonalds while they eat. Get a confession. Or not. Behead the lot of them leaving one alive. The survivor is sent to the clan Macdonald with the heads as a message. The end.
