The Entheological Paradigm: Essays on the DMT and 5-MeO-DMT Experience and the Meaning of it All - 2021 Edition
In this updated 2021 edition of The Entheological Paradigm, leading nondual entheogenic advocate, Martin W. Ball, presents a naturalistic, rational, and objective view on the nature of reality as seen through the lenses of DMT and 5-MeO-DMT when appreciated from a nondual perspective. In stark contrast to popularized views of psychedelic experience, Dr. Ball directly addresses the nature of reality and perception, aptly demonstrating that the contents of visionary experiences are the product of egos in various states of resistance to, or absorption in, the full nondual and unitary experience. Are machine elves real? Was 2012 really a thing? Does DMT launch you into hyperspace? Did Terence McKenna know what he was talking about? Do psychedelic entities actually exist? Or, are all these projections of the ego? These provocative and insightful essays answer these questions, and more, from a radical nondual perspective which fully accounts for the nature of the ego, how it shapes psychedelic experiences, and how to maximize the transformative potential of nondual experience and realization as it is made accessible through “The God Molecule,” 5-MeO-DMT, and other psychedelic compounds. The result is a radically clear framework from which to understand not only the nature of psychedelic experience, but reality as a whole as the expression of a single unitary consciousness in interaction with itself across multiple levels simultaneously. The result is The Entheological a guide to the genuine nature of reality. In this updated 2021 edition, some of original contents of the 2011 edition have been removed, and many new materials have been added, greatly expanding the scope of the original publication. New to this edition are essays on the topic of "2012," Dr. Ball's address to the 2020 World Bufo Alvarius Congress, Dr. Ball's keynote address to the 2020 Nonduality Global Summit, two essays on MDMA and MDA and psychedelic cocktails, a lengthy transcribed interview from the "Naked Guru Experience," three essays from his non-longer-in-print 2008 book, The Entheogenic Evolution, and an essay on three models of psychedelic healing. The result is a compelling and provocative collection of essays that all center on the topic of entheogens and nonduality, truth vs. egoic fiction, clarity vs. confusion, self-indulgence vs. self-transformation, healing, and liberation. In the end, as Dr. Ball writes, it's not about the fantasy worlds of psychedelic visions, but the task of becoming a fully integrated and responsible human being; an individuated expression of the One Unitary Energy Being that is the fundamental nature of reality. Also included are numerous original works of visionary fractal art by the author (black and white).

• Entheogens: That which generates the experience of God within. Entheogens are the best tool to transcend and be liberated from the ego.
• True integration of 5-MeO-DMT experience: Helps you be who you are so you can embody yourself freely. It allows you to be who you are as an individual while (simultaneously) also knowing you are universal consciousness. Additionally, you know that ever person you interact with is you.
This book has some solid intermission music (although it definitely feels out of place given the author's unpleasant narration and tone. He sounds very full of himself and judgmental towards the reader). And sadly that is the only positive take away I will have gotten from the book.
He lays out a lot of contrarian beliefs and from what I recall, he doesn't seem to support most of his statements. He just makes them.
Although one thing he does spend a lot of time on is his critique and criticism of Terrence McKenna. I could have missed it (as this book feels very scattered and unengaging), but I just don't see the point in spending so much time ridiculing somebody, especially in the way that he did.
When I think back to some of the best books/content I've taken in over the years, they don't waste their time dissecting all the flaws in something or someone they don't like.
They provide a wealth of insightful, novel and incredibly valuable information in a manner that's easy to understand and unique to their experience/perspective of the world.
Between all his contrarian beliefs, his tone, along with his excessive criticism, it all comes together to give you the impression that you're just listening to someone vent in their diary.
The needless complaining about Terrence just went on and on, so at one point I just decided to skip past it all. Skipping in general is not something I ever do when listening to a book, but it's something I would have done sooner had I known he'd drone incessantly on it.
(I'm indifferent towards Terrence, but anytime I hear someone continuously complaining about another person, all it does is make that individual seem like a complete energy vampire and an utter bore to be around. Why waste so much time complaining about something you don't like? What does that do for you besides steep further in that negative energy and your disdain for them?)
It was like throwing away your time and listening to 2 presidential candidates go back and forth attacking one another....except it was just him ranting to the reader.
Yeahhhh, so with 7 hr 30 min remaining (out of 13 hr 30 Total length) this is going in the DNF (did not finish) dump.
This book is a HARD pass.
I would NOT recommend it to anyone.
