This is more of an overview of Clark Gable's career, with some information on his life. It's a fairly quick read, I learned a lot and finished with a list of 17 Clark Gable films I want to see, starting with Red Dust (1932) and ending with The Misfits (1961). I also intend to read a more comprehensive biography or two about him at some point. The pictures in this book were excellent, mostly stills from his many films, with the occasional image of him with one of his wives or from when he was in the Air Force.

Like the other books in this series the focus is on the films and acting career and not on his life. In this book the information on personal life is brief with many parts of his life left out or rushed through. The other books in this series at least included decent bios of each person unlike this book who deemed it unimportant.

A basic overview of Gable's film career, marred somewhat by the author's very 70s attitudes and apparent disdain for Joan Crawford.

At the time I belonged to the Literary Guild book club and I went
on a run of celebrity bios. Interesting story overall, the marriage
and death of Carole Lombard, the false teeth, in the Air Force
during WW2, the drawbacks of having every woman after you, he
did have standars, he wouldn't sleep with your wife if you
were also a Mason, up to the star crossed film 'The Misfits'.
