I only read to page 37, so my review certainly doesn't cover the whole book. It's a compilation of anecdotes and short stories about Christmas, but they are not the feel-good kind of stories I like. I think they are meant to be humorous, but seemed negative and anti-Christmas to me. Bizarre is a good description.

Just awful. I was excited to hear about crazy traditions and fun stories, but it was sooooo boring. Mostly sad and almost gossipy stories, like, this family got together at holidays and all they did was argue then be on their way, and that's the story, that's it.

This is a sad excuse for a holiday non-fiction book. The content is a mashed up hodgepodge of what seem to be reprinted anecdotes and newspaper clippings related to Christmas - the castoff material that couldn't make it into the Chicken Soup for the Soul Christmas edition or in any other good holiday non-fiction. I honestly wouldn't have even read as far as I did if it weren't for the fact that I was stuck waiting around with no music to listen to, games to play or other books to read.

Well, I guess I thought it would be funnier. Not sure if I would recommend it. It's not the worst book I've ever read.
