The Wholesome Heart of Happily Ever After...

It all started when I was a kid. I developed a love of raspberry jam (still love it) and a love of writing (ditto on that one too).

I wrote my first book at the ripe old age of nine. It was eight whole pages! Unfortunately, it was a shameless rip-off of Black Beauty. What can I say? Like most girls, I loved horses (yep, still do). For my fifth-grade career day, I declared my desire to become a rich and famous author. Years later, I’m pleased to have achieved the “author” part of that goal.

One of my favorite things about writing is the research part! I know, it’s a bit of a surprise to some folks, because it sounds suspiciously like “homework”. But for me, it’s so much fun! I truly enjoy researching the backgrounds and careers of the characters in my novels and of course the plot lines. It's one way to live many lives all at once.

And what better inspiration than beautiful northern California, where I live with my writer husband, Roger (birds of a feather as they say). I’ve also lived on the East Coast and in the Navajo Nation, the setting for several of my novels. Like most women of my generation, I wish the kids would visit more often. When they’re not around, I enjoy playing with my imaginary friends, who take me on all kinds of adventures.

If you enjoy my books, please tell everyone you know: friends, relatives, neighbors, the person who delivers your mail, folks you meet in line in the grocery store…ahem. I love hearing from readers (the good, the bad, and the funny). Reach me at susan@susanaylworth.com

(LDS fiction/romance) I had a hard time deciding between 2 and 3 stars for this book. Most (but not all) LDS fiction that I read is really not focused on religion. They're stories where the lead characters happen to be LDS, but the driving story line is a mystery or action/adventure story. This book is not like that. It IS more about the religious message than it is about an underlying story. It really is a nice story about forgiveness and applying the atonement in your life. The main character is struggling with the hurt and anger that she feels when her fiance breaks off their engagement just as the wedding invitations are ready to sent out. It seems that he is not the person that he pretended to be and his former girlfriend is pregnant with his child. I can understand the main characters bitter feelings, but I cannot understand why she isn't SOOOO grateful that this happened before they had gotten married. She should be dancing in the streets that she narrowly escaped a more serious and binding relationship with this guy. Instead she likes to play the victim and feel sorry for herself. The story is about her moving on and growing up and being able to have more compassion for the personal choices that others have made as she recognizes her shortcomings and her need for forgiveness and grace in her life. Three stars for the authors message and efforts. There was some good stuff in there.
However, the story really dragged in places and I found myself skim reading to the end. Not a good sign, when they can't drawn me in and really keep my attention through the details. So that would be 2 stars. What is a person to do? I am wishing yet again for the ability to give half stars, because this would be closer to a 2 1/2 star book for me.

Too long, too preachy, and too many silly contrivances at the end.

It's been a long time since I've picked up a Mormon romance novel - I just couldn't take the cheese. But I read this anyway and remembered why I stopped with the MoRos: because they're so terribly unrealistic and poorly written. Plus, this book had the unfortunate tendency to lapse into a Relief Society lesson - nearly every chapter ended with Sarah writing in her journal about forgiveness (furthermore, I found it hard to believe Sarah as a 24-year-old - she came off much, much older).

(Spoilers, if you care): The first portion of the book revolves around several typical date set-ups: a pompous car salesman, a shy guy, and the Mormon comedic romance staple, the guy who proposes after two dates. Then it moves on to an online dating parody wherein Sarah is set up with her own brother, who is also trying the site. Wacky! The final third begins when Sarah meets cute with a artist Craig in an art supply store (they are, of course, immediately drawn to each other through a mutual appreciation of the other's work). Things go from there pretty predictably, with a proposal on the horizon, until Craig runs into his ex-wife at the grocery store, and seeing her shakes his confidence in marriage and he breaks it off with Sarah . . . UNTIL they get in a car accident in which Sarah is injured severely and Craig realizes that he doesn't want to lose her or some other such nonsense. Basically, it's a really contrived, overly-dramatic way to get the couple together.

But, hey, I just saved you from having to read the book!

This is an LDS romantic novel -- so many are "typical", but I loved this one. I thought it intertwined the very real spiritual issue of learning to forgive within the romantic drama. It got slow in a couple spots, but I loved that it just seemed "real", with family, career, spirituality, and dating all intertwined in a realistic post-graduation portrait of a YSA's life. I think I'm going to keep this one.

Again I am happy to find a new LDS author who can weave gospel principles into the story without sounding preachy or holier than thou. I really enjoyed the story of Sarah and her tragic love life while gathering new insights into the atonement that I can use in my own life. Here's to The Miracle of Forgiveness.

I feel like I am reading someone's journal of their day to day thoughts and activities. I was wondering what to do with this type of book when I am done reading it, but it just occurred to me who I could give it to when I finish. Maybe I bought this book for someone else and I had to read it to realize it. I was reminded of the effects and power of foregiveness in our lives.

This is not a book I ever would have chosen for myself, but I read it because it was given to me in a book exchange. It was an ok read but had many parts that caused a roll of my eyes. I also thought the main character seemed more like a 44 year old then a 24 year old. Cute story, and a good emotional arc, just way too much cheese and gospel preaching for my taste.

This was a very quick, easy read (it only took a day to read it). It was a very cute story with a lot of gospel messages. It talks a lot about forgiveness and has a great overall message. I really enjoyed this book.

Life is a continualy learning process. In Right Click, Sarah thinks that after she learns to forgive her ex-fiance life will be good again. But that is just the first step.

I was throughly charmed with the twists I saw coming, and especially the ones I didn't, in this book.

I loved this book. I read it completely in one sitting. I thoroughly enjoyed it and had a good time giggling occasionally. It was a sweet, simple romance that felt like it could actually happen in real life.

This one just rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't care for the writing or the story. It came across as too preachy for my taste. The extended family drove me crazy, as well as the main character. It seemed like the author just took a lot of the sterotypes of Mormon culture and threw them in.

Do people like the heroine of this book really exist??? And why is it that LDS authors need to describe everything in such detail? I know your sitting down for dinner, but I don't need to know the ingredients for each dish. The story had potential, but it gets soooooo boooorrring!!!

This book had excellent insights on forgiveness for both that have wronged others and those that have been wronged. I think it was a good romance and I enjoyed the doctrine tie-ins.

This book turns out completely different than the title makes you think it will. I wish it would have stayed as funny as it was in the first few chapters, but still a cute little LDS romance book.

This is the first book I have read by Susan and all I can say is - Hurray!! Many books like this that I read are somewhat predictable. This one wasn't as much. The story was smooth. It flowed really well. It touched the heart and yet didn't mess with the head. It taught so many things but was no where near preachy. The characters were believable and the story had just the right ending. I give it a 5 all the way!

there are some really important and powerful messages in this story. as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints, i appreciate that the author is able to weave in gospel principles and focus on the Savior in the story. however, i feel like i was a bit overwhelmed with it at times and found myself getting annoyed. still a wholesome story.

Wonderful Christian Novel

Right click started out a bit slow, yet I am so glad I kept reading. This book brought me to a deep change in my daily life. It was such a fun story I cried and laughed and could not put the book down. I can't wait to read more of Susan Aylworth's books.
