I took a chance on this book when I saw it on Amazon and it looks like it's the first book for this author and it's a good attempt. There's some clunks in there which look like they've been updated but the story is what's most important and what engaged me.

Kit and Evie are both mutants in an America that's been ravaged by an extra-terrestrial war, Kit is a soldier in a resistance army and Evie is a scientist, the two of them meet and begin their campaign against the tyrannical President as they're about to be invaded again by the Others.

For a first book in a series, this story requires a lot of setup which this book deals with as well as it can do. I like the main characters and that there's some LGBTQ+ representation in sci-fi.

I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for the next book.

Didn't like it.
Found it confusing and not all that well written, which is probably why I found it confusing.
