Seattle Sound #6
A Moonlit Serenade
The sound he can’t forget… Ryn I’ve suffered my share of heartache, and I’m not eager to risk a silly crush on an arrogant, unavailable rock star. Jake’s band is one of the hottest acts in the world, but for a woman who’s already lost it all (that’s me), celebrity drama holds no appeal. The man himself, though, is harder to turn away…
Jake
I fell in love with her voice first. But trying to recruit the mysterious girl-next-door music teacher, Ryn Hudson, to work on my solo album is proving harder than I imagined. She’s prickly, defensive, wounded, and stubborn. And I’m in serious danger of falling in love with the rest of her, too…
As the holiday season takes over chilly Seattle, we see that something between us glows warmer than twinkle lights. But even if we can stop our doubts, close our eyes, and believe in magic, the pressures of my fame and Ryn’s past can’t just be wished away…
Perfect for fans of the Kendall Ryan, Carly Phillips, and A. L. Jackson, A Moonlit Serenade and the rest of the Seattle Sound Series take readers on an emotional, sexy journey of hot men and their feisty women who are transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love.

As usual, Padgett gives us a heartfelt, emotional story, this time about Jake Etsam, the bass player for the wildly popular Jackaroos. The first time he hears Ryn Hudson’s voice and the amazing lullaby she's written, he desperately wants her for the special project he’s doing as a gift to his sister-in-law. Ryn is reluctant. She likes her simple life, teaching music to toddlers, and the unintended taste she gets of being in the public eye really puts her off. And then there’s the matter of someone endangering her life.
All of the books in this series are phenomenal, but I especially enjoyed Ryn and Jake's story. Ryn had a few internal struggles, but they were believable and evoked the reader's sympathy rather than her frustration. There's a fine line between just enough internal conflict to engage the reader and make her connect with a character and so much that the reader loses respect for or dislikes the character, and Padgett walks that line beautifully. I enjoyed the bringing together of people from vastly different worlds, and while it wasn’t an overt message of the book, Ryn found the family she always longed for in Jake and his musical family. If you’ve never read a rock star romance, give this a try. Padgett is an author who won me over to this trope. Any reader will be charmed by these characters and spellbound by their story.

I was prepared for this book to be a disappointment like some of the previous onces, but I was pleasantly surprised. I actually really really liked this. Jake Etsam did not disappoint, he was a sweetheart in the previous book and in this one, even more of a sweetheart. His brother (the MMC in the previous book) sucked but he did not. I loved him and I liked Ryn, loved them both together. 🫶💖
I'm so glad I enjoyed this one because I was about to give up on this series, which I did not want to do, especially because I got this far.

Love it! Jake meets Ryn when he wants her voice on a song yet she is a surprise. Their relationship is as sweet as it is hot! Recommended to anyone who loves romance!

Jake Etsam is a member of a hot rock band and wishes to make an album of lullabies as a special gift. When he hears a lullaby written and performed by Ryn Hudson, he is enchanted and wants her for his album.
Ryn teaches music appreciation to babies and toddlers. She is also a widow and when Jake blows into her life, she is not sure she wants what he is offering. But Jake is persistent and while he wants Ryn and her lullaby on his album, he finds he wants more than that.
Ryn hasn't dated since her husband died and when she is seen with Jake, her husband's family is less than pleased. Her studio is broken into and her beloved guitar smashed.
Ryn is conflicted, but things escalate and Jake wants to keep her safe.
I loved this book from start to finish. I loved the characters, Jake with his tongue-tied uncertainty and Ryn's loyalty to her husband, although that is underpinned by anger she has yet to resolve. The story moves along at a good pace and the suspense builds up steadily and keeps you guessing right to the end.
This is the first of Ms Padgett's books I have read, but I'm now compelled to look at the other books in this series.
If you're a romance reader, I definitely recommend this one.

A Moonlit Serenade
Seattle Sound Series
Alexa Padgett
“That’s a custom-made Taylor,’ Jake choked.”
“Fantastic. The first man I’d been attracted to in years, and he had to be a celebrity. One who managed to make me feel small and insignificant.”
Ryn finds it hard to trust that Jake won’t leave her, everyone else has.
Alexa Padgett has written a touching tale of a rock star who is really down to earth and his muse Ryn. The music they make together is magic.
Ryn works really hard, she is dedicated and talented. She finds it really hard to believe that someone like Jake could like her just the way she is. Jake has his own insecurities and ghosts of his past to deal with as well as Ryn’s ever present inlaws. They both have to leave the past behind and trust in each other to have a future.
It was nice to see some characters from other Seattle Sound books woven into this story like familiar faces. However, don’t worry it does read as a standalone and has HEA.
I received an ARC of this book.

I thought this story/book was well written. Both of the main characters were likable and not jerks to each other (which seems to be a frequent theme in rock-star romance novels). I would recommend reading this story/book!

Series: Seattle Sound Series
REVIEW: Not everyone’s life growing up is perfect, especially Ryn’s life. Her parents don’t want anything to do with her (absorbed in their own world). Ryn is basically raised by her neighbors, where she meets her future husband. Ryn and her husband’s family grow up together, but tragedy strikes.
Ryn’s life takes an interesting turn with Jake shows up to her class where she teaches music to infants and toddlers.
The drama only picks up not only between Ryn and Jake (as Jake tries to convince Ryn to do an album with him), but also between Ryn and her in-laws. Death, grief can destroy a family when not dealt with properly.
This novel will have you entranced from the very beginning. I really enjoyed this segment of the Seattle Sound Series.

Another great book in the Seattle Sound Series. Alexa Padgett draws you into her story and into the lives of her characters. Jake and Ryn have an intriging story. Jake searches out Ryn to help him write a lullaby. He is taken with her. They both have issues to overcome. He is famous and she is a widow. When a series of unfortunate events start happening to Ryn, he just needs to keep her safe. They need to find out who is after her and why. Follow the clues and see if you can untangle the mystery.

I really enjoyed all the books in the Seattle Sound series but this one may have been my favorite. I thought Jake was so sweet in the other books, really enjoyed his story with Ryn. Hope there are more of these, maybe a 'down the road ' wrap up for all these rockers & their intertwining lives. Good writing, good stories.

I read this book as part of Holidays Ever After: Contemporary Romance Holiday Boxed Set. You can find my review of the anthology as a whole at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Jake Etsam is a world-famous rock-star. Lauryn (Ryn) Hudson is an equally talented musician that prefers teaching music classes for toddlers. Neither is what the other expected and their lives are in no way similar. Jake is fascinated by Ryn and desperately wants her to make an album with him, while Ryn isn't so sure about Jake or the project. In an effort to get to know the reluctant Ryn better as well as convince her to sign onto the project, Jake tries to spend as much time with her as possible. Unfortunately, Ryn's deceased husband's family doesn't take well to the two of them spending time together. Despite Ryn's discomfort with Jake's fame and all that it entails (such as paparazzi) she never treats Jake like anything other than just another person. As it becomes clear that someone has it out for Ryn, Jakes protective instincts kick in. The story covers the entirety of Ryn and Jake's relationship, from the day they meet to the day they get married, featuring both of their perspectives throughout. It is a super sweet HEA story with no cliffhanger. While I wouldn't necessarily say this is a holiday story, it does cover both Christmas and Valentine's Day. There are multiple sex scenes in the book, but none are too explicit. I would definitely like to read more of the Seattle Sound series!

Excellent
Charismatic characters, a fast moving plot, filled with surprises, it is everything you want in a book. Lots of Aussie slang is a bit confusing.

A Moonlite Serenade, Book 8 of the Seattle Sound Series by Alexa Padgett
Lauryn (Ryn) Hudson is a songwriter and musician who runs a music class for babies and toddlers. She is also a widow after her husband was killed in Iraq two years ago. They never had children because they thought they had time for that later which had always been a dream of hers.
Jake Estam is the bassist for the Australian band, Jackaroo. He does enjoy playing music with his band, but his real love has always been art. He has always dreamed of being a curator of a museum or owning a gallery.
After losing her husband, Ryn writes and records a lullaby to a baby that she doesn’t think she will have. When Jake hears her singing the song on a recording, he is enchanted by it and wants her on an album he is working on. Jake tracks her down and finds that the woman behind voice is even more beautiful. He sends her gifts for the babies in her class to get her to go out with him, and lucky for him it works. Jake and Ryn begin a relationship but she always seems to pull away because she thinks he just wants her for album. Everyone leaves her and Jake will to when the album is finished. When she is threatened, Jake sends in his trusted body guards to watch over her because she won’t take it seriously. When everything falls apart and Jake walks out the door, is it for good? Will she be alone again and this time, can she survive it?
These two had so much baggage when they came together. She wanted her independence after her husband joined the military as soon as the ink was dry on their marriage license and left for months at a time. It was always his time table and she never had a choice but to follow along. Then you have Jake and his past with his abusive father and his mother struggling to raise two boys. Both were fighting their own demons but couldn’t see the forest through the trees. It frustrated me at times watching them circle each but never knowing the right thing to say or do. I know these people aren’t real, but Alexa Padgett makes them feel so real. Jake is by far my favorite out of the entire series. He is the quiet one, but he loves to take care of Ryn and makes her feel cherished. Ryn always putting herself last to make sure everyone else is fine and she has been doing it her entire life. She deserves to have someone take care of her for a change. They are so good for each other.

This is book six in The Seattle Sound Series and it is Jake and Ryn's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Jake is the bassist for the band Jackaroo and he is going to Ryn's to meet her only to get a shock at his reaction to her. Ryn takes classes singing children's lullabies and after her husband Desden died on his last four of duty in Iraq it soothes her soul as they were going to start a family when he returned but now she is alone with her thoughts but when she meets Jake things don't always go as planned as he makes her angry without meaning too. Ryn is shocked when Jake asks her to sing her lullabies on a album with him so that he can give it to his brother Murphy and his wife to be Mila but will Jake manage to persuade Ryn to sing as she has never done anything like this before. The more time that Jake and Ryn spend together the stronger there feelings for each other grows but someone is watching and waiting to target Ryn and danger is just around the corner waiting to strike but who is doing this and why. Omg my heart broke with everything that Ryn had gone through by the people who should have been there for her and to love her. Will Make and Ryn be able to overcome all there differences to get a life together that they both deserve as they are absolutely perfect for each other or are they both destined for heartbreak missing out on something special only time will tell what the outcome will be for them. Omg I absolutely loved this book and it was so addictive and emotional but I couldn't put it down as I had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. I definitely recommend you read this book and others by Alexa Padgett as she an amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading.

In keeping with the rest of this series, Moonlight Serenade is suspenseful, romantic and enticing. Both Ryn and Jake had preconceived ideas about each other, only to have to reassess their views as their relationship develops. Jake set aside his own dreams to give his brother his chance as a musician, but he has reached the stage where he is willing to set aside fame and fortune for following the desires of his heart. Ryn's dreams had been crushed and living under the weight of the losses in her life and the smothering legacy left by her late husband, she is thrown off-balance when Jake blows into her life like a hurricane. Grief does strange things to people, but Ryn never thought that Dez's death would have the effect that it did. As her life is put in danger and threats made against her, Jake discovers that he can't stand back but will do what it takes to protect the woman who has become the mainstay of his life. The novel is well written, keeping the reader's attention from beginning to end and closes on a joyful note. It is part of series and characters from previous books appear in this one as well, but it is nevertheless a standalone. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

My insides are squishy after reading A Moonlit Serenade by Alexa Padgett! This is truly a beautiful romance with suspense thrown in for good measure. It is the story of Ryn, a music appreciation instructor for babies and toddlers and Jake, a sexy member of an Australian rock band. (As a side note: I adored the speech venacular of an Aussie as written by this author!) They meet because Jake desires to have Ryn record a lullaby she has written as a gift for his brother and his pregnant fiancee. Ryn, a war widow, comes with a lot of hangups and distrust. As Jake spends time with Ryn, he realizes that he might not be able to give her what she needs. And then, Ryn becomes a target of near accidents and malicious acts of vandalism. Who is behind these events? Will Ryn and Jake find their HEA? This is a must-read for any true romantic!

The Australian slang is so thick in some parts of this book I couldn't figure out what the author was trying to say. And it totally took me out of the story when the supposed American born and raised main character spouted off Aussie slang. What the heck is "fair dinkum" supposed to mean? The phrase shows up several times per chapter.
“Oh, right. The sheila who got sicked on by the nipper. Yeah, she was a right nuisance. But with a bub in the car?”
I felt like I needed an Australian-English dictionary to read this book. Some stuff you can figure out by context, but a lot of the words made no sense.

I love a well done rockstar romance story, and Alexa Padgett’s A Moonlit Serenade (book 8 in her marvelous Seattle Sound Series) is most definitely an ideal “bad-boy” rockstar romance. The romance between “girl-next-door music teacher” Ryn Hudson and rock god bad-boy Jake Etsam is perfectly told, totally genuine and wonderfully fun. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

A beautiful story
I love this authors writing style! Her characters are relatable, and the emotions real... This love story was rocky, and sweet. Passionate, and needy... Two people scarred by childhood events/parents, that greatly influence them as adults. Ryn made me crazy with her neediness and lack of self esteem... But as the story progressed, it became clear that she had a lot to overcome. A strong woman and a strong man with residual issues that they grow to overcome, and who are perfect for each other and finally get their HEA.

I voluntarily review an ARC.
This is the eighth book of the Seattle Sound series, the books are standalones, but if you want to read them all, start better with the first one.
I really enjoyed this story of longing to love and be loved, trust and lust. I could connect to needing time to open up, to the deep love for music and kids.
I struggled to understand the egoism of people Ryn considered family and who should love her and not only her role.
This is the eighth book of the Seattle Sound series, the books are standalones, but if you want to read them all, start better with the first one.

Sweet and heartfelt. Jake is the least flashy of the guys in the band. They got famous and then rich, even though he wanted a quieter life.
Ryn only wants love and a baby of her own. Such a tragic life she’s had.
They meet over her voice and music. Love is tentative and almost ruined by a crazy.
Worth the read.

Ryn & Jake are so good together! I love the connection that the couple develops. I *love* this series, and I can't say enough how AMAZING Alexa Padgett's writing is!
This whole series is a "MUST READ"! 😊

Eek every time I read another book in this Seattle Sound series I have a new favourite! And Jake may be my new book boyfriend!
I love this story between Ryn and Jake and how they evolve throughout the story.

Great story
Jake and Ryn are so sweet together. I love his backstory and how people think he is a badboy when he isn't really. Interesting plot and well developed characters. Great read

Addictive Read
What a fun story. I was hooked from the beginning. The main characters were just so cute together. I so wanted them to have a happy ending.
My only complaint, this book needed a good editor. Lots of word and sentence structure issues but I figured it all out.
