The creator of the popular syndicated cartoon strip "Sylvia" explores her character's views on the devilishly quirky personality traits of pet cats in this hilarious collection of two bestselling Everything Here is Mine , and My Cat's Not Fat, He's Just Big-Boned . Cats who think too much, cats who hypnotize their owners, cats who plot dastardly deeds but get distracted (usually by food,) cats who think they're kids, cats who get even, cats who dress up, cats who educate themselves--they are all here to prove their superior intellect, and their inclination to obey no one but themselves.
I am best known for writing and drawing the syndicated cartoon strip, SYLVIA, which appears daily and weekly in more than 30 newspapers across the country, including The Boston Globe, The Berkeley Daily Planet, Women’s e News Online and The Houston Chronicle (online). Sylvia strips appear on BadGirlChats as well. I am represented by the Tribune Media Services Syndicate.
I continue to write and draw Sylvia at Badgirlchats.com, a blog composed of original writing, comments and reactions to what's in the news.
I am currently teaching college courses at the Art Institute in graphic novel writing as well as storytelling and memoir workshops at Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago, but I still love speaking at events and book readings.
3.5 cuz CATS, though this is a rather dated (1998-2000) look at them, but still both quite funny and also quite true too. Made me smile a lot which is a good thing :)
Not as funny as I'd hoped. There were a few pages I laughed out loud on and shared with my husband since he has the joy of sharing our home with 3 indoor cats too. But a lot of it seemed to repeat the same joke in a slightly different way.
This is really cute. If you have a cat or multiple cats you'll surely be able to relate to a few of the stories/cartoons within these pages. Although there were some things that were a little too silly (some of the outer space bits were weird), as a whole this book is just good fun. It's one of those books you don't necessarily need to read all at one time either. It's great as a coffee table book or end table. Just grab it when you can and open it up and give it a quick read here and there. It's full of kitty cat wisdom in the form or cartoons (especially in the second half of the book) and it sure can bring a smile to your face if you are a cat fan!
