4/5; 4 stars; A-

I am torn about rating this. The main reason I got this version of the the book was that it is the 25th anniversary edition....updated (in theory). So, the good news, the content is still awesome. I would never hesitate to recommend this title to anyone looking to improve their outlook and outcomes in life.

The main topics are:
Change your thinking, change your life
Unlocking your potential
Motivating yourself to Peak Potential
Communicate with Power
Success is Goals
Powerful time Management Principles
Money, Money, Money
Make a Million
The Power of Self Discipline
What to Do in a Crisis
Practical Methods to Simplify your life
Achieving Life-Time Balance

Each segment is about a 30 minute session with subcategories, practical guidelines to follow, and a discussion of the the personal psychology behind human performance, change, and achievement. Very good stuff. I listened to the cassette version of the this seminar 20 years ago and have applied what I learned in many circumstances.

The disappointing thing is that this set of discs doesn't really add anything to the original Psychology of Achievement. The main thing I was looking for was insights and ideas about how things have changed with the rise of the Internet, social networking, and instantaneous global communication. I think that Brian Tracy really dropped the ball there. Those things have many effects, from subtle to dramatic, on how people can achieve their potential in both the personal and professional arenas.

Still, the CD version of the seminar (this one) is probably a lot easier to come by than the original cassette version. There is also a book, which is, according to many reviewers, a close documentation of the original seminar. I plan to check that out because there is so much information in this audiobook seminar that a person needs to have written notes. That book is Maximum Achievement Strategies and Skills that Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed by Brian Tracy

I wish I could remember who recommended this book to me. I'd like to put thumbtacks underneath their toenails and watch them kick a wall. Brian Tracy writes pages upon pages of words without putting forth real data, ideas, or substance. It's like that getting stuck in a thanksgiving table conversation with your weird uncle who DEFINITELY voted for Trump, thinks 9-11 was a hoax, and knows way too much about the "Proud Boys".

Your time is too valuable to be spent on this poor excuse for a book.

The first audible book I finished listening while driving to work. For the most part this book is a collage of ideas already widely known among the self-help/self-improvement community, such as the 80/20 rule, the law of attraction, the ABCDE method, rich dad poor dad, etc. etc. However, Brian Tracy is an infectious speaker and listening to his voice actually motivates you to bring those ideas into action, while when the exact same ideas come from your parents only make you want to puke. There is only one caveat - don't listen to his preaching on not eating the "three white powders" - salt, flour, and sugar(?). As a proud vegan former distance runner I can tell you if there is one thing that can save ourselves and save the entire planet it is carbohydrate. Period. Love your life and eat the carbs. Love your neighbors and eat the carbs.

Filled with lots of good advice, but it's stuff that (if you read in this genre) you will have heard plenty of times before. Moreover, the book is so concise that it all seems to fly past in a blur. I suspect the best way to approach this book is to listen to it every year or two, much like "How to Win Friends and Influence People." With each reading, I expect new gems will leap out depending on where you are and what you're doing at that point in your life.
