Bound to Trust

Rate this book
Several Earth women have disappeared, their trail leading to Xarta, a BDSM planet. Marina, Earth intergalactic investigator, knows that solving this case means a long-awaited promotion. But in order to find the missing women, she'll have to go undercover as a bondage slave on Xarta, something the strong, capable woman wants no part of.

Kaden is a Dom and a native of Xarta. He's also an Intergalactic Marshall, sworn to break up the slave trading ring. His job is to take Marina as his submissive and train her while they're working undercover to expose the slavers and rescue the women.

Reluctantly, Marina agrees to act as a submissive, vowing to both herself and to Kaden that her relationship with him is nothing but an act. Until Kaden shows her a side of life that calls to her in ways she didn't expect.

Note: Bound To Trust contains light erotic scenes where females explore their sexuality with other females.

Was looking for something IPB-ish and found this on Libby under the "erotic" category. Heteronormative and male gazey in a very early 2000s way. Basically your standard syndicated Star (blank) universe porn with (minimal) plot.

The pros? It was short, and had a really high sex-scene to page count ratio, so file it VERY soundly under "erotica" for people who could care less about complex plotting or believable interpersonal dynamics. The writing was quality fanfiction competent, and I ended up doing down an internet rabbit hole and reading a WHOLE lot about Ellora's Cave, the independent publisher of erotic fiction, which was an eBook darling in the aughts.

That said, even in the long ago days of 2004-2006, there was plenty of smut being put out (by aforementioned fanfiction authors) that would have been higher on my reading preference list. I suppose, though, that I forget what 2006 was like - combing through the dregs and constantly relying on cabals of internet friends and/or recs posts to find stories that you'd enjoy, that weren't eye-rollingly over the top, etc. etc. Ellora's Cave, as a brand, putting out consistent stories by known authors, was the Bookstagram of its day, weeding out the dreck from Kindle Unlimited SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO!

Anyway, in conclusion, not my kink, heteronormativity and male gaze = style at the time, OH HOW WE'VE GROWN, etc. It was still an entertaining and filthy way to pass 90 minutes.

I MIGHT finally have to read Fifty Shades of Grey, before all this is through.

1.50 Stars. (BW/W Alien) An Audible audiobook read by Hollie Jackson. Plotless sex fest. Mariana, the human heroine, is a Intergalactic Investigator in the human trafficking division. The hero, Kaden is a native and dominate from Xarla, a BDSM Planet. It is suspected that Xarla is the planet were many of the missing human females have been taken and where they are being conditioned to become submissives to males of Xarla. In order to rescue the abducted females and stop the trafficking, Mariana reluctantly agrees to become a captive to be bought by Kaden and to become his submissive. The couple engages in lots of sex but fail to become the romantic couple the narration indicates. In book 2, which is also plotless and a sex fest where the protagonists have no romantic chemistry. They find the missing females and get a happy ever after by the end of book 2, Demand to Submit.

I have this book as a paperback but got it only kindle because it's awesome and it holds up. Love the story about a strong powerful intellegent woman who is tasked with being a submissive to a sexy alpha male who is also undercover. Lines get blurred, the sex is WOW and love gets in the way. I really loved revisiting this it was great world building and the chemistry was off the charts. Getting a dominate woman to admit she wants and needs a firm hand in the bedroom so good so simple and expertly handled. Good stuff.

No real plot. Just a ridiculous premise that weaves together continuous sex scenes. This book straddles the line between smut, erotica and porn, then leans more towards porn. Thankfully this was a shorter book and a quick read. Don’t get me wrong, it was entertaining, there just wasn’t much to this book beyond the sex scenes. The sex scenes actually improved this book slightly. The BDSM scenes read like an outdated cliche. If I’d focused on the “plot” I’d be generous in giving this book 1 star. I won’t be reading Book 2, Demand to Submit.

Well, it does what it intends to do, which is to have lots of hot BDSM sex overlaid on a sexual trafficking sting operation.

The sex is hot, and the plot... is really not. The investigative work relies on 90% lucky coincidence and includes no such thing as contingency plans. Read for a good time and lower your expectations for the rest!

This is an erotica type story. The whole point is, most of it contains some form of sex, mainly (BDSM). I think Jaci did a Great Job in telling the story. I got what I was looking for in this genre.
I wish that she would have done more, but sadly she didn't.
I will read the second story next.

Today a migraine tried to set its claws into my brain. I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrate so I settled in with tea, meds, and the wackiest book I could find - Bound to Trust. I mean, it's set on a BDSM planet! An Intergalactic Marshall goes undercover and takes a cop as his sub! I was so ready for some craycray.

Sadly, it's only cray singular. Our hero is an alien from said planet, though he seems to be completely human (if well endowed). Well-worn tropes abound - a strong woman realizing she likes to submit, dinner in a restaurant with conveniently long tablecloths, "natural" subs and doms, instalove, etc.

The sex scenes are pretty hot, especially if bondage and orgasm denial are your thing. The rest of the BDSM is a grab bag - some spanking, some voyeurism, some slave stuff. I never felt very connected with the characters so the scenes lacked a certain depth.

And to be honest I wanted much more crazy. The BDSM planet was a tropical paradise with sweet fruit and the aliens were simply oddly colored humans. After seeing the cover I was interested in the interracial and perhaps intercultural aspect but it didn't come up.

While it wasn't exactly what I wanted Bound to Trust was okay for what it is - a cray (singular) novella.

Sex, sex, and nothing but sex. Well written sex, to be sure. I'm not a prude, but I like to read a full story with sex appearing the way it does in real life. It can appear often (and in detail), but where are the lives and circumstances around it? I don't even see the point of this being in a so-called "sci-fi" setting.

The reviews I read said this was a sci-fi story. Barely. It's sci-fi only because it tells you it's sci-fi, it has a portal to travel between earth and another planet. It mentions a green girl. A butt-plug that can move on it's own, along with piercings that the hero can psychically cause to vibrate. No guts of a story here though. The only reason I did not give it one star is at least it wasn't full of typos and poor grammar like so much of this type of fare is.

If anyone comes across any romantic-erotica books that actually have a fleshed out story, please let me know. (But not your friend's book that you've given 5 stars to just because it's your friend. Thanks.)

I usually read books with a little lighter sex scenes and less of the sex more of the story line, but I have to say this book kept my interest. It was interesting to be part of such a different kind of world and a different kind of personal and sexual relationship. As far as the storyline goes it was kind of simple but again interesting enough to keep my attention. I enjoyed this book overall and felt it enlightened me to a different way of thinking sometimes.

Okaaaay then. I don't even know where to start. I love a sexy book but this one felt like it was all crazy sex with a mediocre plot thrown in. It was almost 'too much'. Had the plot and character development been better, I probably wouldve rated the book higher. But for me, it was just weird!

I chose this one to fit the mood in and because it looked like it might be fun. It was. Amusing but without any major depth, although the characters were appealing.

I don't usually like sci-fi books but this one is an exception. Easy to read, well described crime/love story.

This is the best Kaidan/Rahna fanfic ever. Now I understand the Biotic Camp adventures much better.
