Iris Ouverson had poured her energies into the family farm, and the appearance of John Lang was unexpected and infuriating. Suddenly, the land was theirs to share -- an idea she couldn't accept. But John was determined to prove his dedication to the farm and his feelings for Iris. The caring affection he showed her ripened into a deep, adoring passion that thrived in the fertile climate of their need for each other. But when disaster struck the farm and destroyed Iris's fragile trust, it forced a confrontation that risked everything -- and taught Iris that only learning to grow together would bring them a harvest of love.

Cute, Iowa set romance that was pretty hawt, but the conflict felt forced and I just wanted to enjoy them as happy and not storming with rage. I also liked how She raised her little sister, Brenda, and that really made me appreciate the heroines dedication to her.
The male lead is a hot tall ginger with a big endowment and there’s a first sex scene reveal that’s unexpected and also alluring.
The fame setting was okay, I could have used with more lengthy descriptions of bucolia and farmife and less about horses. What is it with romance novels and horses????
Like every Dorothy Garlock book I have previously read, I was immediately captivated by this book. Unfortunately, that is the only thing that I liked about this novel. Garlock was able to reel me in but was unable to hold my attention. I found Iris very irritating and Brenda very bratty. I was very disappointed with this book.
A sweet story about a woman who lives on her family farm while raising her 14 year old sister. They are an indepenent pair until it is learned she must share land with a man who has a claim to it due to an inheritance. The man is 38, retired Navy and eager to learn how to farm. I appreciated the compromises and the changes the couple made.
Another good read by Garlock. I enjoyed it as a nice easy escape. I liked the characters and the basic plot. Would have been even better on the beach with a drink!
