She joined Usborne Publishing almost straight out of university and has been writing books for them pretty much ever since. She has written about everything from dinosaurs to the Queen to Fairy Ponies and tiny monsters, small enough to fit in your pocket. She is also a mum of two boys and works from home, where she spends most of her time talking to the dog and trying not to eat too much cheese.
I found this is our resource room and loved it! "Usborne World of Animals" is a visually stunning and educational book that introduces young readers to the diverse and fascinating world of animals. With detailed illustrations and easy-to-understand facts, it explores animal habitats, behaviors, and characteristics from around the globe. Ideal for grades K-3, this book sparks curiosity about wildlife and nature. In the classroom, it can be used to support science lessons on animals, ecosystems, and biodiversity, while encouraging students to explore different species and their environments through engaging discussions and activities.
This book has amazing photos of animals. The animals have short paragraphs about them and some of their characteristics or traits. The animals are grouped according to continent where they are found.
This is great for kids who love animals and want to learn more or could be used as part of a text set for a unit on animals in 2nd or 3rd grade. A number of the Usborne books now have internet links, too.
Beautifully illustrated with different animals all over the world, this book hits all 7 continents and some of the animals that inhabit them. The beginning goes over eating habits, habitats and more. I really enjoyed working through this book with my boys. There are also internet links that take you to sometimes YouTube videos, which we watched along the way, too. But overall a very pretty book with lots of good information.
I read this book aloud to my daughter as part of her science curriculum. We both enjoyed the presentation of information and pictures. I don’t typically enjoy reading science material or reading aloud, but this book was great! Beautiful pictures and maps.
My kids loved reading this book and learning about the many different animals that live all over the world. I appreciated the way that it was organized by continent. It was the perfect compliment to our study of geography and ecosystems last year in our homeschool.
I haven’t been able to fully read through all of the writing in this book yet, but I know its format and layout are eye catching and engaging. The photographs are really cool to look at, and it looks like this book is just jam packed with information!
We love this book. We usually love Usborne books. They are so informative and educational. Our little one loves learning about animals and this book is a great one to do that. The design of the book is well laid out and designed. It was fun and interesting to read what animals lived in what countries.
My girls LOVED this book. We read it as part of our homeschool science curriculum (Sonlight, year B). The pictures are exceptional; information is interesting and perfect for introducing the animal kingdom to children.
This book was quite amazing. A wonderful overview of the world and its animals, broken down into continents and their well known habitats. Also a section on ocean animals. Great information and internet linked too!
