My wife found this book when she was dieting just after we were married. She was simply trying to limit her fat intake and calories. This cookbook was easy to use and understand, used substitutes that were common and easily found and very practical. I particularly liked the "Fat Free Lasagna" and my wife liked the "Fake French Fries" (Which I nicknamed Faux Fries). I liked the Salmon Croquette recipe, but a bit more than my wife did. We were also able to use some of what we learned from cooking in this book to make fat free Pizza (yes, it's possible) Fat Free Crab Cakes and Fat Free Onion Rings.

There are some wonderful substitutes to make fake fried fish, use Cornflake (Cereal) Crumbs instead of Bread and bake it, and a lot of other things.

I give it a 4, not a 5 because a healthy diet for losing weight has more to it than simply limiting fat intake. In fact, many people reach a plateau where they actually need some types of fat to continue losing weight and this book simply doesn't mention those things.

That said, having been with my wife for almost 24 years (counting time before we were married), I sure liked the results.

Many of the nutrition calculations, esp. regarding fat content, are erroneous, if not completely impossible to achieve with the ingredients. Someone hoping to find consistent information regarding a recipe should steer clear of this book.

this book is about how to keep your weight in check with calorie-reducing techniques and low- or no-fat ingredients. The author lost 40 pounds in six months using this method

good recipes but the type of diet is not currently considered the best due to the sugar content (which I am addicted to and absolutely love unfortunately)
