It's pretty much a discussion between an intelligent religious person who obviously studied Quran and Islamic philosophy and a stupid atheist(Doctor?) who knows basically shit and who is in it for the pleasures of materialism.
I imagine it went something like this:

It is not a dialogue, the author takes up the common questions of atheists and he tries to answer without any discussion.
A disappointing book on several aspects, the author tries to convince an atheist by Islam by arguing on a number of questions.
In the first place, the majority of the arguments are repetitive, it repeats what Christians have worked out for decades. For example, he speaks of the `` problem of evil '' which was first developed by Epicurus: “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not ...more

Maybe a 2012-year young man will not be overwhelmed by Mustapha Mahmoud's style in writing, but getting back to know when this book was first published (1986), you realize it was a masterpiece digging inside the souls and getting out all doubts in there. Using reason and facts, before spirituals, Mustapha Mahmoud puts you before your doubts and kills them gradually and smoothly in a way that gets you sure that a thing like this was only written by someone who has been there and that, before he t

its my first time reading such a book and i was quite disapointed.
- first: the book is supposed to be a dialogue, a conversation, a give and take with enough arguments to support both opinions.
yet in this one the atheist friend has got only one question, one line per each chapter, but the writer "the muslim side in the convo" has got the whole chapter explaining and giving arguments. it would have been more helpful if he supported the atheistic side with more arguments rather than one qst, so th ...more

Moustafa Mahmoud was a colossal idiot. He got popular in Egypt because most people are ignorant and really know nothing about science, history or anything.
In this remarkably dumb book, he claims to have a conversation with his past atheist self, and goes on pointing out the wrong ideas he had. The main problem Mustafa Mahmoud had, again, was that he is an idiot. He became an atheist because he thought it was cool and hip (his own description). Do I need to say more?

I liked the conversation and the logical ways in which Mostafa Mahmoud proved his point of view. I loved his writing style and this made me want to read more books by him.
One thing I disliked was although this book is relatively short, I found myself skimming over the words and not actually reading and giving each word its time. I found it to be really boring half way through.
Nonetheless, it's a good book and an interesting one indeed. ...more

This book raised a lot of questions , that I thought before they are red lines not to be crossed , it supported me to ask some questions and understand my religion on understanding base not just what I have been tough since I was a kid .
Yet I was convinced by all the answers and this will encourage me to search more about issues I never though I knew nothing about them.
Brilliant

I have this long-life dream to read all Mustafa Mahmoued's books, all of them , no excuses.
I read more than 10 books so far, which is a pretty good start, as I started quite short time ago.
for this book, I read more than one review in goodreads , and everything was asking me to pick this particularly book to read.
And I did, it is the most powerful book I've ever read for the author till now (after Einstein and relativity).

A friend recommended a part of this book. I couldn't bring myself to read just one part so I ended up reading the entire book and I am glad I did.
The book answers ~30 questions asked by an atheist who had a fair knowledge of Islam. I say fair knowledge because most of his questions were asked within the framework of Islam.
My first reaction to the book (as communicated to my friend) was:
1) The Atheist has his own language
2) The Scholar has his own language
3) Both of them do not understand each o ...more

This book is clearly not targeted at anyone who has doubts about Islam as a Religion, In fact it is obvious the book is aimed at strengthing the believers beliefs, and making fun of anydoubts they could think of. It tries to Manipulate the readers judgement by using a smart aleck approach demeaning any doubts a Not so believer could have...showing that anyone who doubts Islam must be narrow-minded and missing a lot of " Not so logical " proofs, Overall I didn't really like it, as I found the wri

I thought blind faith was bad, but what's worse is trying to prove garbage ideologies with scientific concepts you don't fully comprehend. I would have given it one star but that's way too much credit for the author. Mustafa Mahmoud is a fraud. He's a failed physician and a failed artist. Arab Muslims give him undeserving credit because he panders to their already set in stone beliefs. This book was a waste of time.

After my first book for this author called "my journey from doubt to faith" I decided to go for this one as well since I was blown away with the easy and heart-warming writing style.
This one is called "a dialogue with an atheist" is an imaginary dialogue, which I thought was real between the writer and an atheist. Which is counterproductive right? Well, the writer's intention is to explain some of the most common statements atheists come up with when it comes to Islamic religion. He did a good j

In the beginning i felt he added some of the basics of philosophy that are arguments for th existence of God. But i felt الروح chapter was new/great.
The one about women is provoking. And the darwin thing is so FAIR and humble!
A very simple language, clear ideas, and open ended question, I;ll definitely search for the rest of his books isAllah :)
