Writing is still clunky and it's tough to follow the storyline in multiple places. I cared about what happened to the characters and wanted to find out, but reading the book gave me a headache.

Fun party times, most renowned Mardi Gras; Cajun spicy and decadent cuisine and voodoo ceremonies. It is hard to tell what New Orleans is known for most. Trying to cope with her hectic life, trying desperately to add a little romance to said life. Not asking for much right? For Kendell Summer, the protagonist of the series it just might be, yes!


Bigger than life events and well rounded characters have Gregg Chase's Malveaux Curse series a humorous fun read that I can't wait to read more of. Fast paced and short enough to read in one sitting. Hurry please with book 3.

This is a great book; this is the second book in the Malveaux Curse Mystery series and written by G.A. Chase. Kendell Summer just can’t catch a break. All she wants is one good passionate kiss from her paranormal partner, Myles, but in the midst of their embrace, she hears a distress message coming from a passing paddle wheeler. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. Mr. Chase is a fairly new author to me; I read the first book in this series, and now I’ve read the second. I’ve found the overall plot in this series to be interesting and fairly unique in the paranormal mystery genre, which I appreciate. I don’t mind the same old, same old, but it is very nice to see something new. This addition to the series was also well-written, had good character development, and flowed smoothly. The romance between Myles and Kendell has progressed beyond the events in book one, and I’m happy with where they are. The mystery in this book was also interesting and kept me entertained throughout which is all I ask for in a book, and this one definitely had that. In fact, I liked this book better than the first. I would almost consider this a cozy, but not quite, so don’t be afraid to pick it up. I really like this series, and this book, and can’t wait to see what will happen next! Highly recommend! 4.5 - 5 ... wow...

Not sure why, but this one started out kind of slow for me, well, maybe not started out slow? It hit a point where it kind of dragged along, but trust me, that didn’t last long. You, Me, and the Voodoo Queen picked up pretty much where Dog Days of Voodoo left off. Kendell and Myles are still in the “getting to know you” stage of their relationship, but both of them are ready to move on to the next phase. The only problem is, trouble seems to follow – and sometimes even beckon them at every turn.

Myles wants to protect Kendell, Kendell wants to protect Myles and Cheesecake wants to protect them all… Yeah, things get kind of crazy… uh… crazier? in You, Me, and the Voodoo Queen. They end up putting their trust in someone Myles doesn’t trust at all and he hates what he sees it doing to Kendell. Before they realize what’s happening… well, it’s all par for the course when it comes to Myles and Kendell. They even reach out to some very unlikely allies while trying to… well, you’ll have to read You, Me, and the Voodoo Queen to see who exactly is being saved from what.

I loved the twists, turns and even the bad guys – well, at least some of them. I’m also loving this trip into the background characters from The Devil’s Daughter. One of the best parts is getting to know the characters that play such and important role in Serephine’s life and seeing exactly how they got there. I can’t wait to see where each series goes from here. 😉

You, Me and the Voodoo Queen by G.A. Chase (Greg Chase) is the second novel in A Malveaux Curse Mystery series. Kendell Summer is enjoying a day with her boyfriend, Myles Garrison. A steamboat passes by playing a tune that Kendell recognizes, she says goodbyes to Myles, and runs to jump aboard the boat. Her friends and fellow bandmates are in trouble and need her assistance. It seems that Kendell is not done with the Malveaux curse (or the curse is not done with Summer). The kidnappers want Baron Malveaux’s possessions in exchange for Kendell’s friends. Kendell and Myles team up with Madam Delphine de Galpion, the voodoo practitioner, to outwit the Broussard’s. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned and Myles life ends up endangered. Kendell sets out to save Myles and eliminate the threats against him. Can she accomplish the task in time?

You, Me and the Voodoo Queen is not what I expected. G.A. Chase is the husband of Deanna Chase who writes entertaining paranormal mystery novels. What I love about Deanna’s novels is missing from You, Me and the Voodoo Queen (lacking in humor, the easy flow, and great characters). I found the writing to be awkward (clunky) and the pace slow (gets better at the end of the story). Information is repeated throughout the story. You, Me and the Voodoo Queen is not a stand-alone novel. It is necessary to read Dog Days of Voodoo or you will be lost. The Malveaux curse is complicated with various components and there are numerous characters in the book (too many). My rating for You, Me and the Voodoo Queen is 3 out of 5 stars (it is okay, but I like the premise—the curse). I thought the main characters were underdeveloped and lacked depth (especially Myles). The author is trying to jam too much into one short book (218 pages). I do want to mention that Kendell and Myles have graphic intimate relations in the book. At the end of You, Me and the Voodoo Queen, readers are left with a cliffhanger. We must wait until Voodooed Again to find out what Kendell will need to do to save someone she loves.

Not having read the 1st book in this series made for a challenge sorting plot and characters. Won't say this can't be read as a stand-alone but would be smoother picking up the first in the Malveaux Curse Mystery. Kendell Summer is a gal in New Orleans with a curse on her. Image that in New Orleans! Love stories set in this unique and paranormal bayou location. This mystery does not disappoint with it's witchy, Voodoo, Curse, Evil Possession happenings with hero/heroine pages. Chase twists the narrative through landmarks and cemeteries using both the living and dead. The Malveaux Curse is continuing to make Kendell Summer’s life hell. She is treading on dangerous ground. I like her fearless nature. I worried about her though. She’s a risk taker. Luckily her boyfriend, Myles, has her back. He’s definitely a keeper. He’s a good man with special skills. They are a powerful couple. Cheesecake adds his power too. I just wasn’t sure if the could defeat the evil they were facing. I couldn’t stop reading You, Me and the Voodoo Queen. The book was filled with nonstop action. I never knew what would happen next. G.A. Chase kept me guessing. I’m hooked on the Malveaux Curse.

The Malveaux Curse Mystery series continues. Into my second book of GA Chase, I can say I enjoyed this book more than the first. The story was more fluid, with greater character and plot development. The ‘relationship’ between Kendell and Myles picks up a notch. Kendell is off to save her friends. But with unintended consequences, Myles is drawn deeper into the curse. Never fear, Cheesecake is at it again, soul saving and all. I voluntarily reviewed You, Me and the Voodoo Queen as an advanced copy from the author.

Rather good!

There are a number of twists and turns in the plot and well developed characters, and some skilfully written interactions with voodoo loa. Mr. Chase has a knack for the paranormal, and uses a wealth of detail in his descriptions. We finally begin to see part of the endgame, or really endgames, since none of the "villains" are actually working together. Good work, sir, and write fast. I'm looking forward to the next book!

ok, just so you know, this is the 2nd book in a 3 book file. I prefer to review each separately rather than as a single book.

A good follow-up to to Dog Days of Voodoo. It does read as a continuous story. I hope the rest of the books run the same way. If you've read the first one, go ahead and continue. I went backward and read the 2 Hell's Daughter books first even though they follow this series.

"You, Me and the Voodoo Queen" is the 2nd book in the Malveaux Curse Mystery series. I enjoyed reading this edition of the series I as much as I did the first. Once again, the characters are engaging and quarky. The story has curses, kidnapping, a voodoo Queen, New Orleans, romance and a pup named Cupcake. I'm ready for book #3.

What a dramatic turn of events, from friends being kidnapped, then Myles having a run in witjh the spirit of the former banker. It was a storyline which meant moments of suspended breathing, until the page was turned to find out what happened next.
It is a quirky mixture of romantic comedy and Voodoo witchery. It works really well, as an enjoyable reading experience.

Strong characters, a witty sense of humor and lots of plot twists combine to make this series a delight to read. Keddell and Myles are thrust into yet more trouble as this story continues where book 1 ends. This series is so clever and imaginative. A great escape read.

Excellent continuation

Book 2 was just as good as 1. The growth in the major characters is solid, they are definitely quick on the uptake. I really enjoyed the history of New Orleans, Voodoo, and the story being so tightly interwoven. But, like Myles, I can do without the ABBA.

A good story

I enjoyed this story. Kendell has to save her friends and stop an evil curse. The plot has action, magic and Kendell's music band. There is a big twist in the plot, and some surprises. This is a good series.

The first of the series is imaginative, complex, and intriguing. The band names made me laugh out loud , although I admit to stumbling repeatedly over the dog's name.
The story has plenty of twists and turns, althoughit does get a tad bit bogged down in parts . Overall it is a well-written and entertaining read. I look forward to continuing with the series.
