Bulldog —

My club and my daughter are all I need; ain’t got time for anyone else. I especially don’t have time for a CPS chick to take my kid. Don’t care if the chick’s got family in the club or not. No one comes in and takes what isn’t thiers. And just like my kid, my heart ain’t up for the taking either.

Izzy —

Having someone growl at me about my job isn’t new to me, more like a daily hazard. But what this guy needs to realize is that I don’t care that he’s the VP of a motorcycle club. Or that the club thinks I need protecting to prove themselves in a way. Nor does it matter that the guy makes every part of my body sizzle when he glares at me. I just care about making sure the girl isn’t hurt. Not like me.

If I can save one kid from my fate, then I’ll do anything I have to. I just hope I don’t lose my heart in the process… or my life.

Bulldog is book 2 in Hounds of the Reaper MC series. Don't miss out on what happens to these alpha males and the leading ladies they fall for.

Trigger This book contains swearing, violence, and scenes that some readers may find uncomfortable. And lots of fun times between the sheets.

What happened?!
I had to go and double check because I was sure I gave book 1 "Chains" 5 stars
To have this bad book after is maddening😡😡😡😡
I was waiting for this book bec Chains and Maddy were the utmost MC couples
And then you give us Izzy the doormat!!!!!!!! Just because you wanted to dable with a Dom/ sub theme!!!! And even this was baaaad
She was so assertive in book 1, I was excited to read this book

So let's start
The first few chapters were OK, independent FL vs the Growly VP
Then we find out that they knew each other 10 years ago (surprise surprise) of the millions of ppl they just happen to be friends with the other characters 🤨🤨🤨

And of course que in the series scenes
Where Izzy is now a Sub!
I noticed this a lot in dark romances and MC books
They always show that the strong independent woman wants to be a Sub😒😒
I have no problem with this if it's done properly with a purpose and inside the confines of a bedroom
But to have her whimpering and stuttering whenever he's around is pathetic
Anyways, after the hot night, Bulldog decides he doest want an old lady and he says and does mean shit to her
AND SHE JUST STANDS THERE SAYING NOTHING

When he accused her of trying to take his daughter for her own, she tells her long sad monologs about her life and I swear I was hearing a violent playing 🎻 in the background because it was pathetic

Then any time she sees him, she makes sure to come off as this poor stammering sub! Pathetic

Then comes the most cringy, unauthentic supposedly apology from Bulldog and of course he had to do it when they are alone bec it's OK to humiliate her infront of ppl but apologize alone😒😒😒😒
AND SHE FORGIVES HIM JUST LIKE THAT 🤏

Bulldog is an asshole
No question about it
And he found his perfect match in Izzy bec this chick will forgive him anything and any future abuse to get his 🍆

I bought this book
And I DNFed at 78% bec I was about to through my kindle off the wall

Bulldog wants no relationships, he just wants it to be him and his daughter. Izzy trusts no one because of her years in foster care, she has no plans to form any attachments to a man.

Isabel, aka Izzy, is just moving to town and will be running a field office for CPS (Child Protective Services). She knows no one in town except for her friend Maddy.

Isabel, aka Izzy first meets Bulldog when she saves his daughter, 5 year old Princess, from getting hit by a semi truck outside of a bar. Madder than hell, she goes into the bar accusing Bulldog of child neglect and says she will be opening a case to investigate whether Princess is in a safe environment.

Bulldog is cleared of any child neglect but there is still tension as Izzy's friend Maddy is the 'Old Lady' of one of the Hounds MC members, therefore Bulldog's 'brother'. Part of the tension between them is definitely sexual. Izzy ends up more in Bulldog's life as she starts taking care of Princess at times when Bulldog has to work late.

Things are happening though; vandalism and a fire at Bulldog's brewery, vandalism at Izzy's office and home and she is attacked at home. This ends up having Izzy stay at Bulldog's house for safety reasons. During this time they start a sexual relationship

Will they find out who is causing the problems? Can Bulldog keep Princess safe? And Izzy?

I really enjoyed Bulldog and Izzy's story. Both have baggage and fear, both are stubborn. They do have something in common though, children. Both are very protective of children and their safety.

The book read well, pulled me right in from the first couple of pages. I would definitely read more of this series, more about the other guys in the MC.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.

Problems from book one

continue here. The writing is choppy and not clear at times. Who is speaking? What just happened? -I asked myself these questions quite a few times, sometimes going back a few pages, but it was like an in between paragraph was missing and there was no transition from one scene to the other.
Again an interesting plot with a slow burn and a single parent trope AND ... a banged up heroine, a kidnapping, a tragic background - a must story lines in any MC romance book 🥴
There was even an attempt on some BDSM but thankfully it was all talk and almost zero action. It was obvious the author was not comfortably versed on the subject.
To sum things up:
Boring? Not yet, but close. Predictable? YESSS

Man...what an ass Bulldog was for most of the book. So often Izzy was doing him a favor and all he did was shit on her time and time again. It got old fast and made me really not like him. The one thing I did think was sweet was how he reacted to learning about Izzy's first time.

I'm glad that they got things worked out in the end, but it was rough getting there.

On a side note, I love Princess, love her little girl matter of fact ways and words, wished there was more of her in the book.

First half of this book I had it at 4 stars, but wow did it take a nosedive. Izzy turned into a total doormat, it was so disappointing. Bulldog figuratively rubbed her face in a pile of dog shit in front of his entire club and she just takes it. Here’s his rant-“You want to go home early? Expect me to sit and have family dinners and shit? Get this—we ain’t a family. You’re a chick I fuck. You’re not Princess’s mom, so stop trying to act like it. I will come home when I’m good and ready, to my home. A place I let you crash at for the club’s sake only. Don’t act like this is more than what it is.” “Easy access. I get pussy, and my kid gets watched. Nothing more.” Hello? This women has to stay at your place because hers was trashed by your psychotic bitch baby mama. Not to mention the blunt force trauma her lackey inflicted on Izzy. Izzy literally saves his kid’s life twice in this book. She gets assaulted twice and run off the road. She cooks, cleans, watches over his kid better than he ever did, has an ongoing sexual relationship with him and he has the fucking nerve to disrespect her like this?

Weeks later… no apology in sight from Bulldog and she offers to drive his kid Princess home. -
“I… um… I can drop her off for you. That way you can work, and she can stay. Will Margret be at the house?” Of course, I just have to be helpful, don’t I? No matter how much a part of me hurts seeing the man before me, I just force the pain to stay there as I offer up my services. Once again just proving to the world what I’m good for.” Umm, maybe if you grew a spine and some self respect people wouldn’t treat you like crap.

When Bulldog finally apologizes, they’re at Maddy and Chains’ wedding. He has them play Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” and he dances with her and sings the lyrics to her. 😆😂😂 Needless to say, all is forgiven instantly. LAME on so many levels…

Then the cherry on top of this craptastic MC- when his ex kidnaps Bulldog, Izzy goes to the club and to tell them she’s got a super duper tech friend/assassin who can help and one of the brothers who was super respectful and polite up until this point - tells her to get lost and that she’s only good at “watching kids and sucking cock.” 😡

Oh -and how did they not recognize each other from their summer of love when they were teenagers? Seriously, you don’t recognize the woman/man each has compared their subsequent lovers to? It’s only been like 1o?years and neither of them have any recognition?!!

This book had potential, but ultimately, it ended up as a mixed experience for me. Bulldog and Izzy both come into the story with baggage—he’s focused on raising his daughter, Princess, and she’s fiercely independent, thanks to a rough childhood in foster care. Their initial clash, when Izzy saves Princess and accuses Bulldog of child neglect, sets the tone for a tense, yet sizzling relationship. But as the story unfolds, I found myself wanting a bit more from the plot and the characters.

Izzy is a strong character, especially at the beginning. She stands her ground, especially when it comes to protecting kids, and her backstory is touching. But halfway through the book, her fearless nature starts to wane, and she becomes too willing to forgive Bulldog for his awful behavior. Bulldog, true to his name, is stubborn and rough around the edges. While his overprotective nature towards his daughter is admirable, his treatment of Izzy was frustrating at times, bordering on cruel. Their chemistry is there, but his eventual apology felt weak, especially after how harsh he was to her. Izzy deserved more, and I kept hoping for a stronger resolution between them.

The suspense element—vandalism, fires, and threats—was engaging at first but seemed to take a backseat to the romantic drama, which slowed the pacing a bit. By the time things started to get exciting again, it was hard to get fully invested. And then there’s the issue with Flint, one of Bulldog’s MC brothers. His behavior was disappointing, and with no redemption in sight, it didn’t make me eager to read his story in future books.

On the plus side, the book has some great moments. The interactions between Izzy and Princess were sweet, and I appreciated the slow burn of their romance. But if you’re expecting a strong BDSM angle, it’s very light, almost too light considering how Bulldog is initially set up as a Dom. The “spice” doesn’t really pick up until midway through, and even then, it feels underdeveloped.

Overall, while I enjoyed parts of the book, particularly the beginning and the dynamic between Izzy and Princess, it didn’t quite hit the mark. The potential was there, but the weak resolution and underwhelming romance left me wanting more. Still, if you’re into MC romance with a touch of suspense, it’s worth a read—but I’ll admit, it didn’t live up to the first book in the series.

This is part of the Hounds of the Reaper series each book can be read as a standalone yet connect via the MC gain, each with a sexy and the girl who makes him change his ways without his permission. Bulldog sexy as all get out bad biker with a little girl he loves more than life itself, he hasn’t had the best experiences with relationships so avoiding is his moto until the little lady who steps into his business the moment she saves his little girl from being hit by a truck and getting rid of her isn’t an option (shhhh he doesn’t want to get rid of her 😊). Izzy intelligent jaded when it comes to people do to all the time she spent in foster care learning that not everyone is who they say they are, but also learning first hand how the babies need to be protected and so the day she catches a little girl playing ball outside a bar nearly getting hit by a truck makes her very suspicious of her parents or parent in this case however, what she didn’t expect was to feel anything for the big sexy motorcycle riding man. Neither of them expected their paths to be changed by a little girl chasing her ball nor did they expect the intense attraction or the magnetic pull between them to be so strong and neither of them being able to ignore it but can he show her just how much he loves his little girl, how he will protect her, protect his little girl with everything in him, will he show that she can trust him, and will they be able to let go of their stubbornness enough to see the happiness right in front of them?

DNF. I didn't get far enough to give it a rating.

What I don't understand is how she is BEST FRIENDS with the girl in love with a member of the MC that she happened to run past and she doesn't know anything about the little girl.

After reading book 1, there is NO WAY Maddy never mentioned Bulldog or his daughter to her BEST FRIEND. I don't believe it. AND in the last book they said no women around when the kids were there. So that just doesn't make sense.

I would say maybe this book comes before the first book or at least this particular part but I swear that Izzy lived further away. Maybe I'm wrong. And even if it did, if she was being a protective CPS person over the girl and it happened before in the timeline, wouldn't she have been more involved in book one? Either way, it didn't make sense to me. I feel like she would have heard of the place because her best friend was so involved. I mean she talked about them to Izzy on the phone. So... and like Izzy knew about Chains' sister and her involvement in MCs. Like she knows!!! Ugh.

Then I read other reviews and it looks like the same misogynistic bullshit. Here's the thing. These guys are assholes. I love that about them but they are assholes to everyone but the woman. That's what makes them swoony and amazing. When they start being nasty to the FMC... hard stop. Absolutely not. You can be rough and alpha and dominate without being a jerk. It becomes unforgiveable. We want a protective MMC who will do anything for his woman not treat her like trash.

Feeling conflicted about this series

I have KU so its rare that I buy a book but after reading Chains(the first in this series) I couldn't wait to start Bulldog. I'm sadly a little disappointed.

Chains was a 5 star book for me. It had a strong heroine, an appealing hero, cute kids, a compelling storyline and lots of great supporting side characters.

Bulldog started out well, and the concept was good. This book had so much potential. Unfortunately about halfway into the book the the heroine went from being strong and fearless to being a complete doormat. The storyline went from being focused on an attempted kidnapping, burglaries and sabotage to being focused on the MMC being a total a$$ to the FMC and her willing to take whatever scraps he was willing to throw her way. Towards the end things started to get back on track but at that point it was a little late.

Also towards the end of this story Flint does something appalling and then never redeems himself, which leaves him an unlikable character. That doesnt exactly draw me in to wanting to read his story next.

I do like this author's writing style, and there are alot of interesting side characters that would make for intriguing stories,so I'm not sure I'm throwing in the towel quite yet. Chains was part of my KU but Bulldog was not. If the next books in the series are part of KU I will probably give it another try. Otherwise its the end of the road for me on this series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the 2nd book in the Hounds of the Reaper MC series. Each book can be read as a standalone.
Bulldog’s is the VP. His only concern are his brothers in the MC and his daughter Princess. He trust them all with his life and hers. Or so he thought. One slip up and now he has CPS looking into his parenting skills. He knows he’s not perfect but he does the best he can with the cards he has been dealt.
Izzy works for Child Protective Services. She first meets Princess when she is playing in the parking lot of a bar and almost gets run over. This makes her red flags fly. She has made it her mission to protect kids. Something she didn’t have growing up. She has always been able to keep her distance and relationships professional. However, this little girl has her wrapped around her finger from the first moment she called her Lady. And her dad isn’t so bad either. Even if he is a grumpy biker.
This was my first book by this author and I loved it. I definitely will be going back and reading the first book in this series and can’t wait for the next one. I love finding new authors.

Bulldog is just such a jerk. A delightful and fun to read about jerk, but not nice to Izzy at all. Even after she saved his daughter! I get that she pulled a CPS investigation on him, but lord he had it coming. Izzy is so strong, and her past is heartbreaking. Both of them have major issues with trusting and connecting with others. There’s a fairly light BDSM kink in this - nothing heavy. I loved the ending of this book and that it was typical. I was heavily disappointed with the actions of one club brother since he has been a favorite of mine throughout these two books. Hopefully he gets redeemed at some point. The reason this is only a four star read is that the grovel was pathetic. Bulldog wasn’t just mean to Izzy when he was distancing himself - he was cruel, disrespectful, and plain awful to Izzy in front of the entire club. She needed to make him work for it more than just a basic apology and some citronella candles outside. Overall I’m really liking this new MC series!

Great story, frustrating end

I wanted to give this story 5 stars but it fell flat for me at the end… it does leave you on a mini cliffhanger so beware! I loved Izzy and as soon as she shares her story I was in tears!!!

I felt let Bulldog was a little much, but hence the road name… but I didn’t like that the first book and start of this one make him out to be a “Dom” and he wants to get kinky with Izzy but it falls flat and I feel like that roll and the spice just don’t add up to a full Dom mentality, even if he says he just dawdles in it. The spice doesn’t start until 52% in, slow burn-ish… but him being a “Dom” I thought there would be more? Definitely less spicy than book 1.

I also felt angry that his “apology” didn’t seem believable? I dunno, I wanted more graveling! Izzy deserved so much more after what he said and did.

Great read, will definitely be starting book 3! Need to find out what happens!

1.5⭐️for effort.
No. I don’t fucking like him. Bulldog was made out to be a way better person in Chains book. He fucking sucks. He’s a shitty dad - leaves princess with the first person he sees constantly, never spends time with her, and has her around all the nasty stuff of the club. That poor girl has been through so much. One real kidnapping and another attempt, but she is just so sweet. Izzy… yeah she forgives way too easily. He treated her so poorly. The things he said were disgusting, pushing her away at the drop of a hat, his inner monologue about her, avoidance, not giving a fuck that she was in the car wreck too. He literally didn’t even THINK nicely about her. He sucked, he wasn’t redeemed by his “sweet” declaration at the end - he was manipulative. And when he finally says he wants her he said he DOESNT KNOW FOR HOW LONG? What the fuck. And then he proposes at the end 🙄🙄🙄 Izzy was so so sweet tho and Maddy was a shitty friend to her in this book too.

This book was good! I thought the flow was better than the previous book and it was definitely more trimmed down than the previous book which I appreciated.

After saving a little girl from getting hit by a car while she plays alone outside, Izzy opens a CPS case against the girl’s father, Bulldog. In spite of their attraction to each other, they have a lot of animosity because of the circumstances under which they meet. However, the more time they spend around each other, the more they find they can’t resist.

I really liked Izzy as a character. I will say the characters of this book were not as good as the ones from the previous one. Bulldog was a good character but he was a dick for a lot of the story which was disappointing. I did like Izzy a lot. She was fun and protective and didn’t want to take any shit. I wish she had been a little more badass though.

I’d read this book again. But the last one was definitely better.

This is book two in the series and Bulldog and Lady's story. Grace was given the name Lady by Princess who's Jax/Bulldog's daughter. The book will have you ticked, laughing, crying, happy, and really wanting to scream at someone. It starts out with Grace meeting Princess and saving her. She then goes to confront her father and the reader realizes Grace won't take any grief. Bulldog is mad because his daughter is put in danger and the hard time Grace is giving him. It gets worse when he finds out she works for CPS. She somehow gets roped into being a part time caregiver for the little one and someone breaks into her house. The Club goes into protection mode, and she moves in with Bulldog. The emotional rollercoaster the reader goes on was unexpected.

stubborn bulldog

Izzie is a strong independent women who doesn’t like to rely on anyone or make any commitments, in comes this stubborn, angry, testosterone filled man that will do anything to protect his little girl “princess”, when her life is saved by none other than Izzie, then threatened all in the same day it’s too much, things start imploding.
When outside threats come in from someone else as well Bulldog almost ruins everything good he could have!
But we all know there’s going to be a HEA and lots of spice in between, add in a trip down memory lane and this book is amazing.

I love the angst, the fight that’s between Bulldog & Izzie and the love story that builds. It’s got everything I want in a book.

On to the next book !

It's giving Sons of Anarchy through and through (almost character for character), but having enjoyed that show I did find this book was easier to read with my existing background "knowledge" of MCs. It's rough and tough and definitely kind of graphic, but if you're into the MC theme then you'll like it. The MMC is gruff but easy to read in that he isn't overly uneducated or clipped like some other MMCs I've read. The MFC's voice is tougher and definitely a bit more clipped than I'd expect for a woman but I suppose it fits the book and her tough upbringing. It's not my usual read and I'd only recommend if you're big into the MC/mafia types of tropes.

This book made me cry on my lunch break. I loved how complex Izzy and Bulldog were. Izzy's childhood led her to give her all to the kids she met through her work; she might have been a bit too sassy at times for her own good, but she was always gonna do her darnedest to get the best outcome possible. Bulldog's love for his little girl and his mom is what endeared him to me even when he had his head up his patootie and was screwing things up with Izzy.

Between the action, humor, hot boudoir scenes and the depth of the characters, Bulldog is totally a keeper and has been added to my "best" folder so I can re-read it in the future.

Izzy and Bulldog and Princess 🥹

Izzy saved the Club princess and as a CPS worker, she has to report this 😬 Bulldog doesn't take kindly to literally anyone. Princess is in love immediately and wants a "Lady" so Dad really just needs to get in line.

The princess is so damn adorable. The love the two characters share is frusterating at time and i wanted to fight Bulldog but they are so sweet together, the MC family, the mystery friends that everyone has - this world is awesome. It's a strong dislike to tolerate to maybe they are kinda cute and I like how they do the bedroom things.

Bulldog and Izzy’s tempestuous relationship is a battle to the finish between a dedicated single father raising his Princess in his violent and x-rated world and a tough-as-nails CPS officer who threatens everything he holds dear. The fireworks between the bombastic tempered VP and the sexy jogger, who saved his daughter from being run over by a semi, is just the start of a passion filled battle of wills that kept me entertained from start to finish. They say the line between hate and love is a thin one but I enjoyed every minute of the battle of wills between Bulldog, who is as stubborn as his namesake, and Izzy who quickly falls for his adorable and precocious 5 year old princess who rules his roost and adopts Izzy as her own, much to his consternation. Underneath all that bombast is a horny Dom who appreciates Izzy’s sass while he hates her interference. He muses Izzy will walk right into hell with flames licking at her skin and the game is on. The storyline revolves around Izzy’s tumultuous past and the childhood trauma that left her fighting for children who can’t fight for themselves. It ripped out my heart before the oh-so-satisfying culmination of the story put it back together again. The author spins a fabulous tale of white-hot passion, insidious deceit, superb suspense, and edge of your seat danger that kept me glued to my Kindle long into the the wee hours of the morning. I haven’t read a biker book more exciting than this one with such beautifully developed characters and such an intricately developed plot in a very long time. 5 fabulous and combustible stars!

Bulldog is a single dad doing his best to raise his daughter. It may not be up to recognized standards, but as part of the MC, she is loved and well adjusted. After the death of her parents, Izzy was raised in foster and her only concern is the welfare of defenseless children. They both fight the attraction, but it has always been between them even if they didn't realize it. The author did a great job intertwining their lives throughout the story. There is also someone in the background trying to destroy all that Bulldog loves for added suspense to an overall good read.

What a ride this one takes you on. I loved the plot and how these two meet. I always love the stories involving kids. I love the interactions with Princess. She’s such a great little girl. Bulldog, I want to smack upside the head quite a bit throughout the story. I liked Izzy. Both couldn’t get out of their own way to find their HEA. The story is well written and pulls you in from the start. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series plus I plan to go back and read book 1.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.

Great read!

Bulldog and Izzy star in this 2nd book of the Hounds of Reaper series. We were introduced to these characters in the 1st book and we get to see them meet and navigate the turbulent waters leading to their HEA.
There are going to be times when you are going to want to yell and scream at Bulldog, multiple times actually.
There are tons of twists and turns and very unexpected information revealed in this book.
My only wish with this one is I wish Izzy made him grovel and beg - a lot because she was far more generous than I would have been.

This one has all the feels.

It doesn’t happen often but this one actually made me cry.

This story has some layers to it that I didn’t see coming (colour me surprised) . It’s well written and although it shouldn’t be a selling point (but it is for me) no discernible spelling or grammatical errors. The characters are easy to relate to and overall it comes across as believable even if Bulldog/ Jax is a complete jerk for most of the book.

Naturally the little girl featured in the story is the star of the show.

I really enjoyed Izzy's story. But.....have to deduct a star for a couple of inconsistencies. Nothing major. I also didn't like the way Bulldog treated Izzy. For a dom (in the bedroom) he was too cruel, too rude, too crude outside the bedroom. Izzy put up with a lot. She understood him, I guess. Princess, a six year old cutie and her dad were a joy to see together. Never a dull moment in this story. Recommend it to MC lovers.

Bulldog, Hounds of the Reaper MC, book2

This is only the second book I've read by S..J. Rowe. I have really enjoyed her writing style and the connection between the MC Brothers and the characters Izzy and Maddy. Bulldog is an alpha male raising his daughter on his own. His past is coming back to haunt him and his present is full of problems. Yes he can be a real dick, but God you just gotta love this man.

interesting series

I’m really enjoying this series. I usually cringe when guys are being dumbasses but it works in this series and keep reading to see how that works out for them. They always do (of course) but I find it interesting that I don’t have an urge to smack them upside the head like in other stories where I just have to stop reading the story before picking it back up later.

My new favorite author and series

I say that this is one of my favorites. The author has an amazing way of blending the drama of the story with dashes of humor. I loved how the story focuses on the plot and not on the next sexual interaction. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind steaming in a book it is that is all some authors focus on. This book had me reading late into the night to finish and it did not disappoint.

I really like Bulldog in the 1st book and looked forward to his story but he was horrible. He did not redeem himself and not enough grovel. Izzy was so strong and impressive at the beginning of the book then turns into someone who just stands there and lets people verbally abuse her both from Bulldog and Flint. Then she just says it’s ok and forgives them. Not overly impressed with this one. I really want to love this MC series because I haven’t found a captivating one in a while.
