This artwork definitely reminded me of the old style super Mario. It made me hungry for a bowl of noodles. The snake with right angles was interesting. I definitely didn't see the resolution to the red string coming. But I enjoyed the newfound friendships.

Hugo and the Really, Really, Really long string was a hilarious book about making friends. The main characters of this book are Hugo, Biscuit, Mrs. Mole, Mr. Alligator, Mr. Usagi, and Mrs. Snake. The point of view is a narrator telling the story of how Hugo find a red string outside his house and decides to follow the string until the end because there's probably something really cool and exciting. He follows the string all through the town and meets people along that way that join him on his journey. When he gets to the end of the string, he realizes that it came from his underwear that his dog Biscuit was playing with. At first, Hugo was really embarrassed because all of his new friends saw that it was his underwear. But then he realizes that it wasn't about what was at the end of the string; it was about the friends he made on the journey. The main idea of this story is about making friends. I would recommend this book to ANYONE. I really enjoyed reading it and loved that it was about making friends. This book will teach kids that the journey can sometimes be more important than the surprise at the end.

Hugo the happy hippo wakes up one morning to find a very mysterious string outside his window. He sets out to find out what it is, determined that he will find something wonderful at the end! As he follows the string all throughout the town, Hugo meets some special friends. Hugo's newfound friends join him on his journey and together discover the surprise at the end. I laughed out loud when I found out what the red string led to at the end! Kids will think it is so fun and will giggle away! This is also a sweet story about making friends. The bright and geometric illustrations really add character to this story.

Cute! Hugo finds a really, really, really long red string outside his window and decides to follow it - it must lead to something wonderful! All around town, Hugo follows the string, and as he goes, he meets new friends who join him on his adventure. Turns out the long red string leads him right back to his house. *spoiler alert* It's a long string from a pair of his old, red underwear (his dog, Biscuit, took her "toy" all over town). But, the friends he's met along the way are glad because now they are friends. Good for retelling, and fun to act out with a red string path for kids to follow!

Aww! This is a really cute story. Hugo follows a red string all around town believing that it is important or will lead to something important. Along the way he makes a few new friends, and they all follow the red string to a surprising ending. The cartoonish-quirky illustrations, and the repetitive language makes this a great story for preschoolers and kinders.

A very cute story. Hugo finds a red string is convinced that it has something special at the end. Along the way he meets lots of new animals and they follow the string together - back to hugo's house. Twist at the end. Pair with the Pencil for "seek and find" stories or with use for an underwear program.

Hugo spies a red string and proceeds to follow all through the town meeting new people as he goes. You'll never believe what he finds at the end!

Several new books have been published within the last couple years about string. This would be a fun book/theme to do a library program for children. (This book, string storytelling, string craft...the possibilities are endless!)

Follow Hugo as he goes around his neighborhood following a really, really, really long string. Along the way he gains many new friends. This is a really cute childrens book with a surprise twist at the end that will make you laugh out loud. (Well at least I did!) A co-worker of mine knows the author and was able to get a book personalized and signed for my daughter. What a great keepsake!

Video game-like illustrations (or, Wow Wow Wubbzy style, since that shows creator is this books author) accompany this cute story about making new friends. There is a sweet little refrain you can sing (or rhyme, depending on your inclination) and kids will enjoy following the string around town. Boys, especially, will appreciate the origin of the string.

This was a really quick and delightful read...great for my kids. I liked the mazes of where this really, really, really long string went through. I especially liked the way Hugo made friends along the way. This is a book I would like to share with my kids for its message and cuteness.

Disappointing ending and so-so illustrations. The book had a sweet message about making new friends, but I can't imagine this being a hit as a read aloud.

Cute story about making friends. Also counting. And sharing. And don't let your dog find your old undies. Good moral.
