I had initially thought of giving it a 3.5 rating but the last 20% of the book was so underwhelming due to which I give it just 3 stars.

It's a vampire romance, written in dual POV. We have some interesting tropes- fated mates, forced proximity, possessive alpha male, paranormal romance (obviously), ends in cliffhanger and the MOST dreadful- miscommunication trope.

Lucien is a ten thousand (yes ten thousand) year old vampire king. He's basically done it all, lived it all, fought it all. The book starts off with him at an orgy where he's having a real existential crisis. He soon finds Phoebe, a powerful witch (who has no idea about the extent of her powers) and they immediately feel a connection.

A 'no sex' pact is made (they basically indulge in other activities throughout the book). I mention this because by the time they actually do have that 'life altering' sex, it did nothing for me. I didn't think it was special because of SO MANY spicy scenes before, it lost its value.

The author had a great plot and world building, but it seems it was soon forgotten for the majority of the book cause of the sex. While the spice is written well, I feel Phoebe's mission were forgotten. For someone who was searching her things for so long, only seemed to care about her 'Rules'. Coming to her 'Rules' the author makes it a point to remind you of them in EVERY chapter. It was quite frustrating and REPETITIVE.

Since we're talking about repetitive, Lucien and Phoebe keep having the same conversation again and again from different angles throughout the book? If the two had actually TALKED instead of indulging in spicy activities for once, this book would've been 200 pages maximum.

The love aspect in this book was very little, the lust? Ample.

The cliffhanger was a bit underwhelming for me. If the author had spent time on Phoebe's missions more and had brought out a bit of adventurous side to the book, I believe it would've been more impactful.

Overall it is a pretty average read. But I do think the author and series has a lot of potential. If this is something that might interest you, please feel free to read it. You might end up enjoying it more than me😀

Will I read the second book in the series? I'll just have to wait and see if it interests me enough.

Nothing is piquing his interest. Stuck in the middle of one of the most decadent of immortal orgies and he's just not into it. She escaped certain death with an explosion of magic, killing many of the witches of the council and scrambling the memories of the survivors. So although no one can really recall what she looks like, she's still running for her life. Trust no one is rule numero uno and it's got her this far. But she's looking for her books and her hunt brings her right to Lucien.

Lucien takes a bounty for an unknown witch and thinks nothing else about it. Why? Because he can only think of Phoebe. She's his mate and he's dedicated to her. They can't resist each other and fall incredibly hard into love. But their love is fraught with mystery, secrets, and betrayal. While Lucien has Phoebe forgetting every rule she's held tight to in order to survive, she's got him acting like a lovesick fool. He's willing to lay his life on the line for her, proving that he is most definitely a man she can trust and rely on.

Queen of Vampire Hearts was sexy and dangerous and magical! It had everything a paranormal romance lover would want - a fated couple, danger lurking around every corner, characters exhibiting their powers, sexy times, and love. For a debut book, Jeanette Rose easily won my devotion and I'm hooked. I'm so happy I got the chance to jump on this series from its start and I'm eagerly looking forward to whatever happens next.

I highly recommend this to readers who love magic, mystery, strong sexual chemistry, and romance!

Excellent vampire romance! I so enjoyed this tale of the vampire king and his witchy mate. The storytelling was very good and the characters very interesting as well. Lucien is a ten thousand year old vampire who is discontented with life having lost interest in everything and everyone around him until the night he crosses paths with a beautiful mystery woman who brings not only his body back to life but has him wanting to claim her too. But before he can take things further she disappears and so starts the chase. Phoebe has been on the run for over ten years for killing witches and with a price on her head she doesn't stay anywhere to long or make attachments until the night she meets the alluring and sexy vampire lucien and all the rules she goes by go out the door with one touch and kiss! What's a witch to do! Theirs action and plenty of steamy sex and a few laugh out loud moments and a great storyline with awesome secondary characters like Erik king of the Lycans and his crew! Loved this group of wolfs! Until next time Luv's❤💋

Okay, where to start with this one?
I liked this, especially the premise and the supernatural aspect of things.
However, I didn't see the connection between both main characters at all. They fell in 'lust' but not in love in my opinion.
I also feel like all the drama could have been avoided if they just talked to each other instead of tearing their clothes of every time they interacted.

I did like that Phoebe was a kick-ass female though.

Fast-paced, romantic and undeniably sexy, this is a tale of trust, betrayal, and love between two of the most powerful supernaturals to ever have existed.

Phoebe is a young, powerful witch with serious, entirely justifiable, trust issues. What with her parents murder, her ex-lovers betrayal and the bounty of over her head, the girl can't help but constantly be on guard.

Lucien is vampire who has lived through millenniums, created realms, crowned kings and grown entirely bored with immortality.

Be warned, given that this is a smaller scale publication, there are a few typos here and there, along with some odd spacing. But it wasn't so distracting that I couldn't still enjoy the content as a whole.

This started off strong but it's been a struggle to read it. Which is not what you want in a romance novel. I'm hoping I can get in the mood for it, although I've started and stopped it a few times. If I finish it, I'll come back and update this review.

3.5 stars! Paranormal romance fans beware, Queen of Vampire Hearts by Jeanette Rose is out for blood! Set in a world where mythical immortals walk the earth, this romance features a witch and a vampire king with a fated soulbond. Phoebe has spent the last ten years on the run, hunted by the Witches’ Council for a crime she didn’t commit. Lucien rules over the vampires on earth as their ancient king, yet he finds himself bored with life. When the two meet by accident in the faerie realm, sparks fly, and the bond snaps into place for Lucien.

The main problem I had with this book was the beginning. Lucien is extremely possessive to the point of a creepy stalker. Though I understand the in-universe explanation for this, it just didn’t sit right with me. For part of the story, Phoebe literally cannot make her own choices, so a romance born from those circumstances just feels a little wrong. That being said, the start of the romance was a necessary plot device that was overcome rather well, and I really enjoyed this novel once the main plot got started.

Phoebe was a great heroine because she wasn’t cowed by Lucien. She was clever, strong, fierce, and flawed, and the way her backstory was slowly revealed throughout the novel was excellently done. In contrast, I didn’t like Lucien as much since he felt stereotypical and lacked the character development that could have lifted this book onto a higher tier. The dynamic between the two of them was enjoyable at the end of the novel.

The plot was a lot of fun, combining romance with sinister backstories wonderfully. There was rarely a dull moment, and the story raced towards the end without pause. The writing itself was causal, allowing the story to take center stage. The dialogue was excellent, flowing naturally between the characters. I would definitely pick up other books in this series and read from this author again. Overall, the rocky start of Queen of Vampire Hearts was outweighed by its readability.

It seems I'm in the minority again.

I couldn't get into this at all. I was actually really looking forward to this one, as the summary sucks me in. I'm a sucker (hah get it?) for vampires, so I was already all for it. The start of this book was really odd for me. To me, it just seemed like a strange scene to start off on. While we do get a bit of exposition to explain why Lucien is as distant as he is, it still didn't bring me in. I also didn't get any good impressions of Phoebe either. The scene was just a weird one, in my opinion, for the book to start off on. The actual explicitness of the scene I had no problem with. I would've preferred if it had maybe happened in a later chapter? Again, I had DNF'd this, so just take my review with a grain of salt. I just want to get across that I wasn't enjoying the characters, the plotting, and some pacing decisions were questionable to me.

Overall, I just wasn't a fan and decided that I had other books and ARCs I'd rather get to instead. I'm not shitting on this, and I'll most likely revisit it again when I'm not so swamped with review deadlines.I'll probably pick this up again in a few months. For now, I'm marking this as 2 stars, which is how I felt the book was for me when I stopped reading.

New to me author Ms. Rose pulls me into this world of broken witches, lethal vampires, and drunken werewolves. Not to mention the orgy-loving fae. I read the forward of this book where the author mentions her parents' support. Kudos to her for having her parents read her book because it is quite racy. Love the fact that her father tells all his clients about her book as well as her mom still being able to look her in the eye. With a start like that, I am set in a good frame of mind to read this book.

I absolutely devoured this book. It was everything I look for when reading a paranormal romance- spice (lots and lots of spiciness aka smut), a hero that would do anything for his girl and fated mates. I was a bit apprehensive when I started reading because I feared that this book would end on a cliffhanger but thankfully it did not. Instead the author masterfully included a new story line with a character that by the end of the book became quite beloved! (He was a werewolf, so I cannot wait to read his story, if indeed it is next). My one qualm about this book was the frequent usage of modern language spoken by a very ancient vampire. But other than that, this was an enjoyable read! This book stood out from my usual paranormal reads because of the feisty heroine, man did she make this vampire work for it! I loved that about her so much!

Synopsis: Lucian is the King of the Vampires and he is bored. That is how the book starts. Did I mention that he is bored at an orgy? Yes. The book begins at a massive sex fest, and its pretty good. I digress, please note that there is no cheating in this book, and Lucian did not engage anyone other than the heroine, Phoebe at this orgy. In fact folks that is how they met! A hot not sex session later, Lucian was obsessed...but not enough to get her name before being called away. Upon looking for Phoebe, he realising she is gone and that she is his FATED MATE, aka the love of his life, his queen and future mother of his kids. And this is where the story starts getting juicy, because Phoebe is a powerful witch on the run and her species doesn't usually get along with vampires. Did I mention that she's on the run...with serious trust issues? She leads Lucian on a merry little chase and a wonderful adventure. Prepare for a happy ever after with the cutest ever POWER couple.

Please read this book if you love vampires, witches, gods, goddesses, werewolves, fantasy and romance! This book has a little of everything (and a lot of smexy scenes). You definitely won't regret reading this! Fans of Kresley Cole...this is the book for you!

Starts off with a bored vampire at an orgy in fairy. Lucien (the last four books I’ve read have had a Lucien), is bored until he meets a woman he’s intensely attracted to. She’s into him too but at the moment of action cries out, “No sex”. It was silly. The characters were not very memorable and the situation was a little tenuous. The storyline for this isn’t bad but there is a lot of sillines in the actions of the characters. Phoebe’s rules from one to five came up way too often; it was annoying. Also, I’m not into the dominant submissive stuff so I didn’t like that aspect. It’s not terrible but could have been so much better if it had been more well thought out and had had better editors.. Some typos and incongruous stuff made it just OK for me. I might read the next one but it had better have a better editing.. This is the first time I have ever read anything from Jeanette Rose, but definitely not the last!

Set in a world where there are multiple planes, 'Queen of Vampire Hearts' is an erotic romance, sprinkled with a dash of mystery. We first meet Phoebe, a powerful witch, who is hiding from the Witch Coven after a huge misunderstanding has had her on the run for the last ten years. She meets our hero, the all-powerful vampire, Lucien at an orgy of all places! (P.S. This should give you a heads-up as to how steamy things are in this novel). After a series of unfortunate events (haha), a little kidnapping (psshh, what's some kidnapping amongst friends, am-I-rite?), and some smexy scenes, an epic tale of love and fun begins.

I absolutely loved how the plot unfolded; explained in alternating views by both Phoebe and Lucien, I did not feel like I missed out on anything by only hearing one character's point of view. I also enjoyed the time and effort the author placed in world-building. Oftentimes, I dislike when authors introduce readers to a new world but do not take the time to fully develop all aspects of it.

The only aspect I did not particularly relish was the lack of communication between Lucien and Phoebe; really, these were two adults, why couldn't they just speak to each other?? There were so many instances where proper communication could have saved them so much heartache. One of my biggest pet peeves in novels is when grown adults act like children!

All in all, I give 'Queen of Vampire Hearts' a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. As described above, I truly appreciated the comprehensive world-building and the general storyline. While there were some characteristics of the main protagonists I did not particularly like, I really loved their love story. I recommend this to lovers of erotic romances, and those who like to figure out 'whodunits.' Definitely, this is one for persons eighteen and older as there are major instances of obscene and sexually explicit language. I cannot wait for the second installment of this, and I am beyond hopeful we get Erik's story soon!

This was such a fun read! I’m from the Twilight Generation so am always looking for more adult vampire fiction (now that I’m not 12 and to fill the hole that twilight left by giving us like a KISS IN ALL 4 BOOKS) and this did not disappoint! (This is not comparable to twilight that is just where my vampire love came from pls don’t judge) It was an easy to read, quick vampire romance, which I am a slut for. There was a good level of spice in it with steamy foreplay which is usually my favourite part of spicy scenes 💀I LOVE books with strong female leads so I was please, this book also had other things I LOVE such as forced proximity, fated mates and not necessarily enemies to lovers but there is a lack of trust in the beginning, Lucien and Pheobe are very likeable characters with good growth throughout the story. Very happy I got to read this!

Queen of Vampire Hearts by Jeanette Rose is a book I happened to stumble across and I’m glad I did as I enjoyed the story.

Phoebe has been on the run because of a mistake she made, and it has taught her to live by a very strict set of rules. The first one being, trust no one. See, Phoebe is a witch and when she trusted her now ex-boyfriend with her family grimoires and he stole them, she was sentenced to death by the council. Unfortunately for them, Phoebe is pretty powerful, so she saved herself at the cost of the lives of many on the council and has been on the run ever since while she searches for her grimoires.

Lucien has been around a long time and as king of the vampires he has seen just about everything. When he is at a party and crosses paths with Phoebe, he is immediately drawn to her and we eventually come to find, she is his mate. While the attraction is definitely not one-sided, Phoebe has been burned before and she isn’t as quick to trust what fate has in store for her.

As Phoebe adjusts to life as Lucien’s queen, she is also still trying to figure out where her grimoires are and what happened to her parents. As the story unfolds, there’s a bit of a twist that makes her question everything she thought about her relationship with Lucien. Sorry, I can’t say much here as I don’t want to ruin the story.

If you are looking for a paranormal (vampires, witches, and wolves!) consider checking this one out. It has some steamy bits and the characters have solid chemistry. There’s also a bit of an interesting twist at the end that will have me watching out for the next book to see where the story goes from there.

This was an amazing read and was nothing like anything I have read before.
It took me a little bit to get in to this book but once I read far enough to understand and got over a few cheesy lines I actually loved it! Imagine that lol

Two powerful immortals, both alone and totally unhappy with the fact. both to stubborn to even think to try and change it. Fate has plans for Phoebe and Lucien their destiny is pre written and all those terrible things that have happened to each one play an important part in what their life’s become.

Lucien is the vampire KING and certainly knows it ;)

Phoebe is a powerful witch and has no idea. She knows she is a witch alright but has no clue what witch she really is.

They are mates even if one does not want to recognize it.

This truly is a book unlike any I have read. Of course there are a few things I had to get use to but for the authors first book she did an amazing job in my opinion. In the end when all was said and done I fell in love with the characters and storyline.
I will be following this author and I DEFINITELY will be reading the next book in line!!!

The king of the vampires, abandoned by all he has ever loved, waiting for his mate for thousand of years met a witch at an orgy party of the Fae who has been running for her life for years because the Witches Council wants her death. What could go wrong? Lying. The root of all evil. Of course, honesty has not yet reached these immortal beings.

I liked the book. Kind of. Still, it leaves me feeling … Overwhelmed by nearly everything. I love Lucien's vulnerable side and admire Phoebe's strength, but I would have prefered that not everything stands or falls with their non-existent honesty to one another.

The base story would easily have been 5 stars for me if it hadn't felt like too many fantasy elements had been squeezed into it.

This is my second time reading Jeanette Rose, and I'm so glad I stumbled upon her writing. Rose does a lot of things well, including spice and taking bits from mythology and incorporating it in her own way into her stories. I read a lot of paranormal romance, and Queen of Vampire Hearts is definitely up there on my list of favorite vampire stories.

I loved Lucien and Phoebe's dynamic from the very first meeting. She wanted nothing to do with him - and fought any growing feelings for quite a while - and he couldn't deny nor entice his fated mate.

More intriguing than the unrequited, will they/won't they going on for much of the story was both Phoebe and Lucien's reasons for acting the way they did. I loved that Rose didn't just give them a fated mates trope and leave it at that. I love that Lucien the big, bad vampire had to overcome his past abandonment issues. I love that Phoebe had to truly wrestle with her past betrayals before she could let herself love anyone. Their issues definitely go a lot deeper than just being a vampire and a witch, and I loved their journey.

Even as Phoebe continued to fight her feelings for Lucien, Rose managed to include a decent amount of spice in this story. I loved how things progressed as Lucien and Phoebe consciously and subconsciously became more comfortable with each other.

Overall, I truly enjoyed Queen of Vampire Hearts. I loved the premise of the story, and thought Rose did a great job at fully fleshing out both her two main characters as well as the diverse cast of supporting characters. There was a very intriguing set up at the end for the next book, and I will for sure be adding that to my must-read list.

Reading Queen of Vampire Hearts was like playing paranormal romance trope bingo.

- The Most Powerful Witch to Have Ever Lived? Check.
- A possessive 'alpha' male bordering on controlling? Check.
- A May/December romance between a young woman and a thousands-years-old immortal? Check. (At least, in this case, Phoebe was in her early 30s and not, y'know, nineteen. Slightly more palatable.)
- Insta-love/lust because of a 'fated mate' bond? Check.
- Drama brought on by lack of communication as a lazy plot device? Check.

BINGO!

Despite of all of that trope-y garbage, I weirdly enjoyed this book. I picked it up on a whim - I don't typically read paranormal romance, but I was going on vacation and was after a beach read - so my expectations were low. Maybe that's the secret to enjoying what I'm reading, because I did have a pretty good time with it. I still had issues with the story and the writing - Lucien was far too possessive and controlling to the point of being borderline abusive, it was creepy when Edward Cullen did it and it's still creepy now - but I managed to suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy the fun parts of the book.

I did like that Phoebe didn't take any shit and was able to take care of herself. The romance was a bit Stockholm syndrome-y and absolutely stemmed from insta-lust, but I ended up enjoying their dynamic at the end of the book. (Let's just ignore the part where they'd only known each other for two weeks at that point, yeah?) The sexy scenes were, well, quite sexy (definitely not for the faint of heart) and I liked the D/s dynamic.

Stylistically, there were some things I wish Rose had done differently. I didn't need to be reminded of Phoebe's rules on nearly every page, and the decision to include a scene from a flashback at the beginning of each of Phoebe's chapters was odd, since we already knew what had happened in that flashback. It felt superfluous and didn't reveal anything or add anything to the narrative. The beginning also included a whole lot of cursing, which then mellowed out as the book went on. I have nothing against a well-placed strong word, but this was just excessive and, again, didn't add anything to the narrative. Also, Lucien spent a long time whingeing about how bored he was and, later, about his abandonment issues; I wanted to give him a shake and remind him of his overwhelming privilege and tell him to take up a hobby and be useful.

I think some tighter editing would do well here, as the book was a bit bloated with repetitive introspection. Pick up the pace, slim down the page count, and the story would be more effective. Still, I had a good time with it despite its issues and will likely pick up the next installment as this entry ended on a cliffhanger.

Woah. I didn’t expect to like this so much.

Just to get this out of the way, the start of this book is a little rocky. It starts off really sexy really quick, and without establishment of characters or plot, I didn’t really care about the first sexual scene. But, if you hang on, this will be worth your while.

After chapter 3 I was HOOKED. Once the world-building, magic system and plot are explained, I got really invested. This book is addictive and I kept turning page after page to see what happens next. The angst is 10/10. I was up way past my bedtime reading this just waiting to see what happens next.

This is fast-paced, plot-driven, and a quick read. I would not say the writing is a literary masterpiece. However, I would definitely say this is a guilty pleasure read, and it is so good at what it intends to do.

I really liked the characters as well, though I do think there could be some more differentiation in voice for the characters, as this jumps back and forth between the male love interest and the female love interest.

I would recommend this to people who liked Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon or Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa, and any other steamy fantasy romances.

I’m at a loss for words with this book. Ive never been unable to write a review because words just didn’t seem adequate. This book was that book for me. First off I’m pretty sure new Kinks were unlocked and the spice in this book is A1, Jeanette is a master at amazing spice scenes and I’m acing for more.

This book gives me Spike and Buffy, Coraline and Klaus vibes!! I love a book where both Main pop characters are morally grey. Not only does this book have the “you touch them I kill you vibe” but we have forced proximity , fated mates as well. Jeanette also pulls in mythology from every corner to explain the creation or various Immortals from vampire, werewolves, fairy, witches and more. All coming from a different pantheon. The unique backstory on the immortal we get, is absolutely brilliant. I want to say so much more but then I would spoil this book. JUST READ IT! I promise you will thank me later.

I’m positive i’ll be thinking about this book in the weeks to come. The storyline was amazing, with perfectly balanced spice involved. I even felt connections to the secondary characters, and cannot wait to read more about them in the books to come as part of this series! There was never a dull moment in this book, it was action packed and I was desperately trying to read on the see what would happen next! I definitely enjoyed the fantasy and paranormal aspect of the story also.

Lucien Silvano is ten thousand year old and done with everything there is to do in his immortal life as vampire king. Nothing attracts him nor gives him pleasure until an encounter at night makes fate bind him with a witchy mate. Phoebe is a runaway witch the Witch council is after not knowing why.

But how was the novel you ask; charming, sexy, gorgeous, angsty, devil smirks filled, “pls-just-have-me-under-you” (yes the smuts were real real yum i bet you). It was such a good read especially when I have been craving a good vampire romance. And can we note how, Phoebe was portrayed as a powerful string witch, and NOT a weakling or frail or one who is shunned out such as in majority cliches for vampire romances. I recommend so so so much 💖

I love paranormal romance and this book started off really strong. Somewhere along the way I started to get lost and I felt like the major climax was a bit of a let down.

Overall the book was good and I enjoyed the read but I felt like the major plot could be tweaked a little so it was stronger.

My Review......
lucien is a bored vampire king, after living for so long, nothing really holds his interest. So whilst planning his new war, he’s totally unprepared for when he meets HER!!! Her scent, her body, all are driving him to distraction. He must possess her, his need for her is nothing like he’s ever known!!!
Phoebe lives by a few simple rules, and these have kept her in good stead for many years. But coming to an orgy?! Not one of her best ideas, but she needs to be here, and she needs to find a demon that can help her, she’s been running and hiding for so long. And now it needs to stop, she’s been told the demon she needs to help her is here, so Phoebe needs to get in, find him, and then get out, before they find her!!
Their first meeting is at an orgy. Both are overcome with feelings for one another. But when Lucien is called away, Phoebe uses her magic to escape, she hasn’t got time for him, the people hunting her are coming ever closer, and Lucien could and would be a distraction.
Lucien has finally found someone to be at his side forever. But his happiness is short lived. She disappears on him (several times in fact) She wants nothing to do with him! She won’t tell him anything of her life before they met, and she gives him nothing but her body, she is hiding something, but what? Is it something he can help her with? There is nothing he wouldn’t do for her, but she shuns his help, and his company. She’s driving him mad!!!
Phoebe wants to trust this vampire, her heart and body yearns for him, and the more time she spends with him, the harder it is to distance herself. But when your parents are murdered and your ex lover steals the family Grimoire’s (spell books) it doesn’t help. And the Witches council want her dead (she might have accidentally killed a few when questioning her about the disappearance of the books) You can see why she had trust issues.
Lucien manages to get Phoebe to his castle (handcuffs were involved)😉there he intends to show her what her life could be like if she stays with him. Phoebe (isn’t impressed with being kidnapped) could happily live with her vampire king, she could totally be the next queen. But there is just something Phoebe can’t quite put her finger on.
And when Lucien’s secrets start to rear their ugly head, Phoebe has two choices, run or accept them and try to work through them...
I really liked this book, it made a change for the hero to work at winning his female. (Yes there are a few cheesy moments, and a few corny one liners, but you can overlook them. The plot is solid and the characters are well written.
It does jump around a little, and we go from characters point of view to the third person a lot, but once you get past the first few chapters, you settle into the rhythm and style of writing.
It’s the start of a new series, and the author has plans for a further 13/14 more books in the series (next one is out possibly in November) the author says they will be able to standalone, will there be glimpses of past characters? And who will be next?

An immortal orgy party was not how I was expecting this book to start. Not something I was upset about, mind you. Just a really fun way to begin the story, especially since the hero wasn't partaking in any of it and was not happy about his lack of participation. I loved how the author immediately grabbed me as a reader and really didn't let go throughout the whole book. The insta-lust, the mystery, the action...it all had me hooked. I was confused at times over whether this would be a BDSM book, not gonna lie. The hero has some very detailed fantasies about what he wants to do to the heroine. However, while steamy, the sex does remain fairly kink-free for most of the book. Wasn't sad about it, just was waiting for the kink that did not come. No pun intended...maybe.

After ten thousand years of sex, Lucien Silvano, King of Vampires, was worried he'd finally lost all interest in the activity. Even attending a party where sex was the goal was not enough to stir him...until his mate walked into the room and sent his libido into overdrive. Phoebe Atreus knows she wants Lucien as soon as she sees him, but after being a witch on the run for years, one-night stands were all she could have. Still, it's hard to resist Lucien, and when he declares her his mate and Queen, she realizes that maybe the time for running may finally have come to an end. As they are forced together through magic and fate, the heat of their bond ignites. But secrets abound and when the truth comes to light, Phoebe's trust in Lucien will be put to the ultimate test.

As you can probably tell from how it starts, this book is STEAMY. The sex is hot, well written and shows just how much of a sex drive can still exit even 10,000 years after birth. No viagra needed for this vampire king. While I was completely hooked by the lust between the two main characters, what really got me swooning was the clear romance between them. Phoebe was desperate to avoid any connection with Lucien, but his vulnerability and genuine caring towards her broke down her barriers one by one. They both needed to learn to trust again, and it took time for that to happen.
Lucien had been abandoned several times and fully expected Phoebe to do the same, making his love for her heart-wrenching. He wanted to give her freedom, but he worried that would mean she'd leave him like all the others. Which made the conflict between them towards the end all the more devastating, as you see all the progress they made seemingly crumble to pieces. Her trust in him was tentative, and their lack of communication over a few important details led to some major issues later on. Thankfully Lucien knew how to grovel and Phoebe knew how to forgive. Ultimately their love did not come easily, but once it was there, it was there forever.

We get a preview of the next book in the series, which follows a wolf shifter, which I am very excited about. He charmed me as soon as I met his character, and I'm anxious to read his love story.

+unique characters and plot - Originals (vampire diaries spin off) meets Sabrina the teenage witch (Netflix version but not with a teenager)
+strong heroine
+characters were not perfect but grew as book progressed
+I like any alpha male who falls for a strength of the heroine
+great new series of stand-alones - I like how Eric was introduced to lead to the next stand alone
+medium spice- even with the opening being an orgy- there is great passion/lust but nothing too over the top wild

Queen of Vampire Hearts is a great start to an undoubtedly fun and sexy series.

Phoebe is a witch on the run after trusting someone who ended up betraying her. After seeking help from the faction that was supposed to support her, they sentenced her to death. In a moment of anger and disbelief, she lost control. Now, she runs and keeps to herself.

Lucien is the Vampire King is suffering from the ennui of living for centuries upon centuries. War, women, bounty hunting, nothing seems to keep his interest, everyone leaves in the end. Just when it seems nothing will stir his interest, he meets her.

Thus begins a very sexy story where the characters must deal with fated connections, betrayal, and learning to trust again.

I will say the book reminds me a bit of the Immortals After Dark series but I'm not mad at it. In the paranormal realm, there are only so many places to go... and as Ms. Cole hasn't put out a book in quite a while I will happily take this series in binge proportions!

I like to snoop on authors and book prior to indulging and to get a sense for what I'm about to binge into... So I believe this is Jeanette Rose's first book AND she wrote it because she got tired of not finding anything to read that she was interested in and so she decided to write her own. So, kudos to you Ms. Rose. You did a bang-up job! If I decided to do that it would probably make as much sense as my 5-year-old when he comes back from his grandparent's house after being given a steady stream of sugar and crap food.

In the end, I will say that while the writing could use a bit of polishing, I am absolutely certain that this series will bet better and better. I am looking forward to more.

¡Lo que he gozado este libro! La verdad es que no soy amante de los libros eróticos, pero este me llamó mucho porque es también principalmente fantasía y quedé super contenta.

NO es un libro cambia-vidas ni lo tomo con demasiada seriedad. Pero para pasar el rato y entretenerse a montones, sí es el indicado. Amo.

El rey de los vampiros de 10,000 años conoce a una bruja en una orgía de inmortales y aunque no sabe ni su nombre, y ella se va, él sabe que es su pareja predestinada, su mate.

Lucien es un vampiro posesivo y muchas veces tóxico, pero amé que él lo sepa y que haga lo posible por cambiarlo porque Phoebe, su bruja y pareja destinada, es una mujer fuerte, independiente y empoderada que no se va a dejar gobernar por un hombre.

Es como si la autora hubiera agarrado el cliché del vampiro sexy, misterioso y poderoso, pero lo hubiera complementado con una bruja CON dignidad, sexy, misteriosa y muy poderosa con tintes feministas. Es brutal la combinación.

Phoebe no confía en nadie y ahora está prácticamente atrapada con un vampiro que asegura ser con quien debe pasar el resto de su vida inmortal, entonces ella está en todo momento así de "WTF con este loco y tóxico" y él así de "WTF con esta que no se da cuenta que debe estar conmigo", ajsjas.

La relación que surje entre ellos es buenísima de leer. Está llena de tensión y de salseo. Es casi un enemies-to-lovers, con la diferencia de que la única que odia es ella, él en realidad la quiere enamorar jasjajs.

Ella se derrite físicamente por él, pero jamás poner su placer por encima de su dignidad. ¡Qué refrescante es leer eso en lugar de mujeres virginales que pierden toda autonomía por un orgasmo!

Es una historia divertida, tensa y muy entretenida. La narración es en primera persona por ambos protagonistas y hay escenas y capítulos enteros que resultan muy graciosos, porque sus pensamientos son muy irónicos. Es como si tomaran con sarcasmo su propia existencia y la situación del destino que los juntó sin aparente lógica.

Al estar ambientada en el 2021 (creo, no recuerdo si es ahí o 2020) tiene una ambientación contemporánea y fresca. Ver vampiros, hombres lobos y brujas viendo Netflix es mi nueva pasión, jasjas.

La trama, por otro lado, sacando lo gracioso del asunto y el sexo (que abunda), es muy atapante. Los dioses que crearon a las especies fantásticas, las amistades forjadas, los enemigos, los aliados, los poderes, la magia en sí misma, es una muy buena combinación. Se lee rapidísimo y no perdí el interés en ningún momento.

Está solo en inglés, pero el nivel es básico, así que genial.

Y el final fue BUENÍSIMO. Empezó siendo un final clichesito de historia romántica, pero cuando pensé que tendría un "y vivieron felices por siempre", se abrió una ventana a una secuela que promete mucho. No fue un final abierto, porque la historia de Phoebe y Lucien como pareja, se cierra, y lo que surje es de otro personaje que amé. Si sale secuela, acepto leerla. Deseo leerla.

Recomendadísimo a los amantes de los romances oscuros de fantasía con mucho erotismo bien escrito.

PD: No le di cinco estrellas, porque tuvo demasiado erotismo para MI gusto, pero es muy personal y el resto del libro sí merece las 5. ♥

OMG, what a great book!

I'm honestly not a dark-erotica fantasy romance current reader, I'm more of other kind of fantasy, BUT I trully loved this one here.

It had me completly inmerse on its pages from start to finish, this love and power and magic and kinda enemies-to-lovers story is just SO adictive, I totally recommended it.

Here are some reasons why you should read it too:

✔️The main couple are the King of Vampires and a Powerful witch who is a wanted criminal.

✔️The Vampire enters to a bounty for that witch's life without knowing she is his fated mate.

✔️They both met on a inmortal's orgy and though he finds out she's his mate, she doesn't want to know anything from him. She runs from him and he starts his search after her and when he find her, it very funny to read the way things develope between them. It hooks you up.

(NO spoilers here, all of that happens on the first and second chapter)

A witch who trust no one and a Vampire who claims to be the one she has to spend the rest of her inmortal life with. That dinamic is tense, hilarious, ironic, hot and great to read.

I'd loved the way the characters are.

Lucien is a 10.000 years old vampire and most of the time he's so possesive, and toxic, BUT he recognize it and tries his best to control him self for her.

Phoebe is a criminal witch and she's been running from the Council for a decade. I love the strengh in her. She physically melts for Lucien, and she wants to hate him, BUT she never losses her dignity or doubt of her value as a independent and empowered woman.

It's like the author grab the two most cliches personalities but putting them with contemporary thoutgh, printing a fierce female and a toxic man with the hability to see beyond his own ass.

So we have the best of both worlds: the sexy and hot vampire, but with a sexy, hot, sexual and powerfull witch. Kinda toxic at some point, so TW, but is not terrible, it's actually very good.

And… Not virginal and stupid with-no-dignity human girls here, yei!

ALSO, in the initial author's words, she says she thanks her dad for giving this book to his patiences with the line "Twilight meets Fifty shades of gray". I laughed at that but the more I read, the more I was like "hey, that sir was on the right track". Haha.

Lucien is a BDMS dominant and even when Phoebe fights the entire book for her not being ruled by a man, in bed she is so submissive. All their encounters are fire and though I'm not an erotica lover, I really enjoyed the way the author wrote this ones. It's not just porn as others.

The plot is very interesting. Enemy species, old gods, mythic powers, strong friendships, fun and light scenes, it's placed in 2021 (I think) so everything its kinda realistic even in its fantasy.

Vampires, wolves and witches watching Netflix? Yes, please!

The ending was SO GOOD that let me craving for more, so, if by any chance the writer read this review, please know that I'm anxiously hoping for a secuele.

If you're looking for a hot, fantasy, dark romance, please read this one. You will not be desapointed.

PS: Is not a 5 stars read TO ME because as I said I'm not the biggest erotica fan and this book has A LOT of sex and in one point I was like, "please, no more". But is really personal, so, if you like erotica, I think you would totally love the entire book.
