I had to force myself to finish listening to this audiobook. Not only is it full of religious bullshit, but the author turns his southern accent on and off randomly. When it's turned on, he sounds like a con-man televangelist.
The best thing I got from this book was in chapter 4. "If achieving your goals makes you feel like you're climbing uphill, then I want you to visualize a negation metaphor of skiing downhill and letting gravity carry you." "...imagine yourself in a sailboat letting the wind carry you effortlessly through the water..."
Some of the things that annoyed me the most... Chapter 3: "If your parents were not religious, your motivation will suffer because you'll have less time with that parent because they'll be lost in self and ego, and ignoring you." Chapter 3: "...also, your picture of God will be formed during the childhood stage and that will form your world view and your value system and your morals and your ethics system. It will also shape your capability beliefs." Chapter 3: "...the only way to get the meaning and purpose is really from God." Chapter 5: He pronounced tortilla chips wrong. Chapter 6: He pronounced lichens wrong. Chapter 6: He said that Viktor Frankl was a member of a Nazi training camp. (I think he meant concentration camp)
Throughout the entire book, he had lots of fill in the blank questions for the reader to think about, such as "In order to be happy, I need to have blank." On EVERY SINGLE ONE, he felt the need to tell the reader to choose their own word. Not only was that annoying, but it was also distracting.
Came here to review as one star, was disappointed and simultaneously glad that several others have already beat me to it.
This book basically tells you "just try harder lmao" as the secret of motivation. Oh, and find Jesus too. Not a shred of practical advice, just the usual self help trash about envisioning your goals and staying positive. Bleh. Oh well, lesson learned -- I need to read reviews before listening to audiobooks going forward.

Me, 20% through this book: why are these reviews so low? Seems like every other self help...
Book: HEY! BY THE WAY - wanna be Christian? If not - you’ll be soulless have no morals!
Me: oh 👀
So I don’t even mind books pushing their religions on me because I do realize that if you truly, actually believe in religion then you MUST want to convert people so they don’t go to hell! Otherwise you aren’t caring about them or their souls.
No, what bothers me is when this book (or anyone ever - ahem Steve Harvey) implies that religion is the sole root of morality.
THAT IS SO CREEPY! You’re essentially saying if the loving, forgiving, all knowing dude in the sky didn’t tell you to be nice to people (and not kill them or whatever) you wouldn’t do it because you only have morals as a means to avoid hell. I gotta say, as an atheist that is the #1 reason I just could never F with religion. God could come down to me and tell me the bible is to be followed at all times and I’d only be like “hey! You’re nuts!”
It’s like that Bo Burnham lyric in “from gods perspective”
“You shouldn’t abstain from rape just cause you think that I want you to, you shouldn’t rape cause rape is a fucked up thing to do”
Just like any self help it is only as valuable as the effort. There were a lot of good whys put into this book. I loved the service orientation and the giving to get philosophy. I took numerous notes and there are many things I am excited to add into my life.
The tenants of this book from a business perspective were fine. Up until the page where Beeler said it was mandatory to have a belief in God to succeed. From there on, it became more of a biblical treatise than a book about motivation. Homey don't fly with that.
I couldn’t force myself to finish this book. I listened to this one and the guys voice was super annoying. Everything included in this book I felt was either worthless or common sense. I wouldn’t recommend this book.
Good concepts but I stopped reading after the author claimed that research proved that you need God to succeed. Please keep religion and personal beliefs out of serious publications.
Zero stars. I had to abandon this book half way through. I was doing the audio book and when the narrator was reading me fill in the blank sentences I had enough.
Some fascinating gems spun into new webs yet interwoven with clearly ineffectual and at times pseudo scientific advice. Worth it if you're gifted with a good BS filter.
I once watched a funny comedy movie called the "The Love Guru" about a guy basically trying to become the next 'Deepak Chopra' and in it there's a funny line where someone refers to him as the ...*poor mans Deepak Chopra*
... Well unfortunately for Todd Beeler with this book... I can't help refer to him as the *poor mans Tony Robbins*
If that doesn't make sense watch the movie ( pretty good and worth while comedy to watch anyway ) and you'll be enlightened

This book is total garbage best suited for use as toilet paper or kindling. It took an immense amount of motivation just to reach chapter 5 in a failed attempt to glean something of value from this book. At that point I couldn’t take the BS any longer. Todd Beeler should be ashamed of himself for making this book exist. I could write a better book by putting two covers on the ground, squatting over them, and dropping a steaming load between them. The only thing it motivated me to do was to leave a terrible review of it.
It had some pretty good ideas. I listened to it. I found it fascinating that one point he brought up to be more motivated in your life is to 1- give a percentage of your earning to a cause you believe in. and 2 - give three hours a week of your time to serve others. Interesting..... The one thing I did not like was the author read the book and he got really annoying at times. Brutal to listen to at times.
Some good information but the delivery had issues...so many questions asked so quickly with too few or no story examples to allow a moment to reflect. That time is important with an audio book. I had to stop and rewind too often finally just stopped and listened to it without taking any breaks. I know I missed some good material by choosing to get through the book that way.
