While counting in Spanish from one to twenty animals, young readers are asked to find the orange cat hiding in the felt applique illustrations. Original.
This counting book doesn't just go to eleven. It goes all the way up to twenty. The pictures are made of felt embroidered with beads, sequins, buttons, and decorative thread, and the text follows the formula of X ANIMAL Y, but where's the cat? So for fans of cats, assorted animals, or counting; you can't go wrong.
Fun counting book with entertaining illustrations as you count from "one moose, but where's the cat? to twenty mice..... my 2 year old LOVES this book and finding the cat on each page!
This is a cute counting book with an adorable art style. My husband and I are both learning Spanish, and this book lets us involve our son in learning the language as well.
Very cute counting book, with an engaging "where is the cat?" on every page. Perfect for toddlers who are just starting to love finding everything in the pictures (it is quite easy in this one--easier than Little Critter's mouse).
For story time this evening, Fritz picked out this book. It is a familiar book. It's a counting book. Each page presents a number of some animal with the refrain "but where's the cat?" There's part of a cat found on each page.
Fritz is really good at finding the cat. Tonight, however, I had him read the book to me. While he isn't reading the words, he knows how to count, he knows the animals depicted, and he can remember the refrain. Therefore, he read the story. Words cannot express how happy Daddy was tonight. :)
It's a cute book. **** 21 November 2011 10 February 2012
Yes, its just a book that counts to twenty. However, the illustrations are very different as they were made from felt and have various bead and sequin embellishments as well as embroidery stitches. The best of this counting book is the hunt for the orange cat that partially appears somewhere on the two page spreads. And just what animal will make the cat appear fully? Take a look to find out. A fun book.
There is a cat hiding on each page and Moira can find most of them, except for the pages where all you can see is the tail. And the page with the Moose on it, because apparently Moose are that exciting. I like this one a lot because all the pictures are made of felt and beads. I love Clare Beaton and I'm glad Moira does too.
pb8: Very good counting book!! It does a good job at keeping the children's attention by giving them glimpse's of a cat that just keeps running away. The child must keep counting to try and find this crazy cat. The end gives a very exciting ending that the child can rejoice to that they have finally found the cat.

a concept book that will appeal to the young ones with its witty felt cut-outs and clever find-the-cat mystery. I do love the Clare Beaton art books - a fan of hers from way back when she first starting doing miniature applique art quilts.
5-star picture book! It has counting, it has great illustrations, ones I want to recreate in my copious spare time, and my kids find it hilarious, even though it's just counting and finding a cat in each picture. I enjoyed reading it multiple times.
