This is a simple book for students in either kindergarten or first grade. It is a take on the classic tale of the tortoise and the hare. In this version, the tortoise and the hare decide to race to school. The hare decides to run to school while the tortoise takes the school bus. The rabbit stops to get a snack along the way and loses the race. This could be a fun book for younger students in kindergarten who are still getting used to coming to school.

My daughter really enjoyed this book. She is a beginner reader and loved that she could read along with me. Cute, updated version of tortoise and the hare. I would recommend this book to others.

The book is based on the classical fable of Aesop, "The Hare and the Tortoise." It is a watered down version. It is difficult to see the moral in the tale. This is especially true because the turtle is not getting to school by his own effort. There is only one activity in the back. I cannot see how it relates to improving a new reader's ability to read, although it seems like a valuable activity. It asks readers to draw a map showing how they go to school. I have liked other Green Light Readers better than this one.

An easy retelling of Aesop’s Tortoise and the Hare story, this time with the two animals racing to school, the rabbit in foot and the turtle on the bus. As a parent, I liked that the illustrations were nicely detailed and higher quality than many early readers. Catherine did well with the ease of the reading and was able to get through the book with fluency.

Another beautiful illustrated book.

The animals are perfectly drawn and have adorable facial expressions. The story is a modern take on the classic rabbit-turtle race and is quite humorous.

I smiled throughout and laughed at the end. I'm sure little kids will love it and adults, who love picture books like myself, will too.

I borrowed it from my local library.

This is a beautifully-illustrated bilingual book for kids! It retells the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. I like at the end that the turtle gently asks the hare to play again the next day, not "lording over" his win.

This was a more modern day twist to the rabbit and hare story. Rabbit tells turtle he can bet him to school with him walking and Turtle riding the bus. So as the bus takes its route and stops etc seems like it's gonna be slower, so Rabbit takes his time and in the end Turtle does make it faster. For a beginning reader it would be a fairly easy book to learn off of.
