This is one of my favorite cookbooks I own. My husband’s Texas family has a better chance of having Mexican and Spanish heritage in their blood but my heavily German/English heritage does not. But my family has always loved Mexican flavors and styles. We often had Taco night growing up and taco salad night, where we looked forward to a buffet style dinner allowing even the smallest member of the family to “make your own!” As my husband and I married and combined families we had Mexican Christmas dinners as a tradition. So good Mexican food is a treasured commodity for us! This book has wonderful stories and traditions of her family and also great tips on how a gringo can have a wonderful Mexican fiesta! The first thing you should make is the rancheros rice......Then pineapple and pork. The vintage-retro pictures and vibe in the layout of the book is fun and colorful. You will not be bored in this cookbook!
