Award winning, bestselling author Karen Anders is a three time National Readers’ Choice Award finalist, Romantic Times Reviewers Choice finalist and has won the prestigious HOLT Medallion. Two of her novels made the Waldenbooks Bestseller list in 2003. Published since 1997, she currently writes for the Harlequin Romantic Suspense line. Karen came to romance early when, at sixteen, her Valentino-loving grandmother gave her The Sheik to read. Ever since that day she devoured romance in all types of genres including: historical, western, fantasy, time travel, and science fiction. It wasn’t until she started reading contemporaries that she couldn’t find the type of books she wanted to read. That’s when she thought she would try her hand at writing one herself. Her fourth book Jennifer’s Outlaw written for Silhouette Intimate Moments sold in 1995 and was published in April 1997.
Karen then went on to sell to Harlequin Blaze in 2001 and her first Blaze was released in January 2002. She’s written 12 books altogether.
Karen is proud of her two daughters whom she raised as a divorced mom for 15 years. One is launched into the world and the other is attending college. Although she misses the beautiful mountains of her home state of Vermont, Karen moved to Northern Virginia is 1981 and then to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2006.
Karen loves to paint in both watercolors and Chinese Brush painting as just another creative outlet.

FBI agent Max and DEA agent Rio are sent to Maui for some downtime. No sooner do they start enjoying the tropical paradise than they are being chased by bad guys across the island. An entertaining story with action and adventure, a great Hawaiian setting, a jungle, waterfalls, lots of hot sex, and likable characters. Not all storylines are wrapped up at the end since this is book 2 of a 3 book series. Still it’s a fun read.
Oh, boy. The initial premise for this book was great. And FBI agent's dogged search for an elusive terrorist could jeopardize a DEA undercover mission, so the "alphabet soup agency" sends a sexy, sophisticated, female operative to distract him. Of course he has no clue she's there to distract him, he thinks he's on a bodyguard mission. And, as usual, the bogus bodyguard mission soon turns into a real one, since there are bad guys chasing after them in the jungle of West Maui.
As I said, the premise was great, unfortunately the execution had much to be desired. The writing and pacing seemed awkward, the plot had more holes than a chunk of cheese, there were so many twists and turns to take this book out of the suspense realm and plant it firmly into the silly territory, the hunky marine (there's no such thing as an ex-Marine - Semper Fi!) FBI agent was too naive, the heroine was simply annoying with all her emotional baggage, the multiple sex scenes were distracting and gratuitous since they contributed squat to the overall story, the final twist (of the heroine getting kidnapped and the hero saving her) was redundant and put there only to enlighten us how she's seen reason, and the villain, the elusive, notorious terrorist should be nominated for "the cheesiest terrorist name award" with his moniker of the Ghost.
The only thing that was remotely interesting in this story, was the main theme that's apparently carrying through the entire series (this being the second book) - of the search for the "cheesiest terrorist name award" nominee with everybody (from friends to family) pitching in by going undercover. Well, thinking on it, it isn't that interesting at all.
Why do I do this to myself? After reading the first in this series I said I would definitely not read the second. But I had it sitting in a pile of books against my wall. I needed a book published in 2009 with a red cover for two different reading challenges. Once I listed it, I was going to finish it.
The hero and heroine are introduced in a conference room and told they are working together and they have flight that leaves in 15 minutes. Before they leave the conference room she is "riding his leg". But the instant attraction/instant love is the least of this books problems. The paper thin characters stumble their way through a senseless plot with bad dialog. The high point of the book was a bad joke that actually made me smile in it's absurdity. I'll share it with you now so you don't have to read the book to find the only amusing line. Our intrepid couple is fleeing from a band of drug running assassins through the jungles of Maui. When they stop to have sex (because if you might die any minute why not go out with a bang?) our heroine, Rio Marshall (yep bad names abound in this book), utters in the throes of passion "A hard man is good to find."
I'm not going to guarantee that I won't read the exciting conclusion to this series. I did that already and yet somehow I ended up reading this. Who knows? Maybe I'll do something really bad and I'll be forced to read it? Nah, that's just cruel and unusual punishment.
Dangerous Curves by Karen Anders Undercover Lovers Book Two Max Carpenter is out for blood. The Ghost has to be caught. His sister Callie would be going undercover to resume catching the gunrunner and his other sister Allie, Callie’s identical twin, almost lost her life standing in while Callie was injured. He was closing in on the guy when suddenly he was thrown into a babysitting job. His fury left in a hurry when he laid eyes on the babe he’d be sitting.
DEA agent Rio Marshall has a debt she’s determined to have paid. A drug lord killed her brother and she was going to take the murderer down and see him pay for his crimes. Her first round at it didn’t go so well, but as soon as she could...she’d be back at it. After her undercover job with the hunky FBI agent.
These two agents find that their simple job wasn’t so simple. What was going to be an easy two weeks in Maui turns sightseeing through the areas they’d preferred not to. Especially since they were being chased by goons. Their attraction to each other wasn’t halted one bit. They found plenty of time in between running and hiding for “other” activities. Book one is Allie’s story; Up Close and Dangerously Sexy and the the third book is Callie’s story; Deliciously Dangerous. **Strong sexual content and language http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
This is book two of Karen Anders Undercovcer Lovers series. I feel so unfair giving this one star because there is a lot here I liked.
I love the premise of the spies and there is a sub-plot which is running through this series that has me hooked. I like all the characters independantly. Enought to keep me revisitng these books despite being massively disappointed with both.
I guess what it comes down to is execution. This writer does not work for me at all. I have tried numerous books of hers and I haven't like a single one. I have liked the plots, charcters, ideas in the books, but the stories themsleves always fall flat for me. I hate to say this and these books will no doubt appeal to a huge amount of people. I wished I liked them, I really do.
This was just a catalogue of inane plot twists that you saw coming a mile away and a hero who is supposed to be this bad boy super agent and is in fact the DUMBEST guy on the planet. The heroine was just irratating and they had sex at every turn, all of it grossly inappropriate considering they were stranded in a jungle, running for thier lives...
