Don’t hold back. Never give up. If only it was that easy…
The Devlin Group, Book 3
When sabotage downs their helicopter in the mountains, Gallagher finally gets the up-close and personal time he’s been craving with fellow agent Carmen Olivera. After their rescue, the saboteur’s trail sends the Devlin Group to Africa, where Carmen tries to revert back to her cold, professional self. Except Gallagher isn’t ready to let her go. Not by a long shot.
As the Group gears up to rescue a young woman held hostage in the well-guarded compound of a guerilla warlord, Carmen tries to shove her long-time attraction for Gallagher—now jacked up by one mind-blowing night—back into its mental corner. No matter what her heart says, there’s no future with him. They’re from different worlds. Not to mention the effect a failed relationship could have on the job.
But as the mission gets blown all to hell, they find the African jungle has its own, brutal way of deciding who has a future at all…
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shannon Stacey lives with her husband and two sons in New England, where her favorite activities are writing romance and really random tweets when she’s not riding her ATV. She loves mud, books, football & watching way too much TV.
Besides happy endings in books/ movies/ life, I absolutely adore action books and movies. This is one of those books that I can actually follow and understand. That's thanks to Shannon Stacey. Action but not over-information is good enough for me. Finally someone wrote about woman that doesn't want to have kids and that's an OK. Finally there is a man that puts wants of a woman above all else. Thanks for that. Thanks for page turner and for action book that anyone can follow. Thanks for good ending and I honestly hope that it isn't the last one from this series.
Good and intense with great characters. I enjoyed this addition to the series, glad to see Carmen and Gallagher together finally - and when it happened, it really happened! Pretty much like it had to though.
Contains: Violence of all varieties, cheesy romance lines, and good guys kicking ass
Genre(s): Action and Adventure, Romance
Summery: A continuation of a series about a group of ex-military toughies kicking ass and falling in love.
What I enjoyed about this story: It's not a literary masterpiece and it's not trying to be. But if you enjoy some adrenaline with your romance then this series is for you. The villains may occasionally be a bit too much, but the heroes and their love interests are spot on.
What I didn't enjoy about this story: Nothing that comes to mind.
The worst terrorist in history has kidnapped a politician's daughter and it is up to Devlin Group to get her out. The problem is no one wants to go into this country especially with women on the team. John Gallagher has no choice but to take Carmen on the team with him but can be do his job while making sure Carmen stays safe? Will Carmen be able to put her fears behind her and let in Gallagher into her life and her heart?
A fun, action packed agent romance by Shannon Stacey.
Carmen Oliveras and Gallagher have worked side by side for years. Simmering beneath is some thread of awareness of the other as more than a teammate but both are also keenly intent on keeping their heads clear as their work and coworkers’ lives depend on their staying alert and professional.
Love this sexy, adrenaline-pumping book! I don't usually go for action-oriented plots, but I was totally drawn into this one (so much that I forgot to just wait for the sex!), and felt totally drawn into the characters even though this is the first Devlin Group book I've read. And wow, Gallagher was dreamy.
Shannon Stacy really ratcheted up the villain in this story, and the hero. Well, two heroes actually. Both with deadly skills, both emotionally involved with a score to settle. Perfect for a fast, entertaining, action-packed story.
Love this series and watching these bad@$$ mercs drop to their knees when they find love. This is Gallagher and Carmen’s story and it’s filled with action and steamy times. Definitely a relisten.
The author takes a few extreme liberties with reality but for the most part this mercenary book was done very well. I’m glad she remembered to add in the emotion through actions near the end. I was disappointed that the secondary romance was reduced to sequel bait but I understand it wouldn’t have worked in a short amount of time. I also liked the humor throughout. This was a satisfying read all around.
Like this series. So far this 3rd book has been my favorite. Again I only wish this book were a bit longer and the romance between Gallagher and Carmen was a bit longer and more drawn out. The action and the plot are good just want a bit more depth between the 2 lovers in this series. Am assuming since we got a hint of a romance between Donovan and his rescue that this story may play out more in another book. If not, we were certainly left hanging.
I really liked this book. It was probably my favorite of the series. Even though the cover shows a smoking hot guy, the book had more suspense and action over any intimate scenes. I think there might have been one and it was done very well. Of course there was romance and love and friendship and passion. I like how Shannon has written several different highs and lows in the book to keep you reading. I wish there were more of these books. I love the girls and guys from The Devlin Group.
Explosions everywhere! The excitement never stops from beginning to end. Definitely my favorite of the series so far. Gallagher is an easy hero to love, and Carmen is a total SUPERWOMAN.
The assassination at the end was a bit anticlimactic, but yeah, true to Gallagher's character, I actually see that happening.
This book kept me on Edge from start to finish! Awesome Rom-Suspense book! Lots and lots of actions, unpredictable and Romantic. It even made me cry a little. This one is my favourite of the series so far :)
I think this one is my favorite book. Carmen and John are perfect for each other. Nothing like a near death experience to make you lay it out there for someone. But I was also very entertained by Jack and past and his fasination with saving Isabella.
Probably my favourite of the series. Plenty of different story lines and development if the characters. Again Shannon's writing tugs at my heart, provides me with laughs and this series has list of action as well!!!
This romantic suspense was exciting from beginning to end. I always like when the hero pursues the heroine and the secondary romance possibility was an interesting addition. After special independent agents Carmen and Gallagher are stranded from a plane crash they follow up on their attraction.
This might have been a good book but it kept jumping paragraphs. They would be in the middle of somewhere and then all the sudden somewhere else entirely. It made it hard to follow
This book was really great. And one of the best series I have read but I would have liked it a little longer than 100 pages. In saying that a lot happen in such a short story.
