Utsuho and his friends encounter a sect whose leader claims to use the power of a god to perform miracles. Could his power possibly be real--or is he yet another charlatan?
Another quick disclaimer now that I'm returning to this series and trying to read through multiple volumes in the span of a short time, this is not a series I own. It is on loan from a good friend of mine who wanted to share it with me and thought I would appreciate it.
That being said
WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED IN THIS VOLUME, HOLY SHIT. THIS IS SO GOOD.
Utsuho and his friends encounter a sect whose leader claims to use the power of a god to perform miracles. Could his power possibly be real--or is he yet another charlatan?
My Thoughts:
Still really enjoying this series. This time, Utsuho runs into an enemy that I think he'll actually meet again. I really wasn't sure who was the mastermind behind that whole miracle scam. I love the way Utsuho works things out. Hisago is gorgeous, but he's such an asshole. Utsuho is still my favorite. Those eyes! I love it when he gets pissed and opens them and makes people uneasy. I also love how protective he is of Pochi. He's protective of Yakuma and Neya, too, but like Yakuma said, he just doesn't show it as much. I think he's got a different way of showing concern for those two as opposed to the way that he shows concern for Pochi.
Their next big adventure seems to be in a town known for its explosives and fireworks. Tenka, a kid Utsuho knew in the orphan village, lives there with his adoptive father. Things aren't too good in town, though. Apparently, someone is going around and murdering the town's fireworks makers. No one has any idea as to who it might be, but the truth comes out when Tenka's house is targeted. I have to say that I'm feeling pretty proud of Tenka for protecting his father and his home like this. I hope he doesn't get hurt.
This manga is hilariously funny, meanwhile also being probably one of the darkest mangas out there- it has really great and graphic art for all of the goriest parts, and the story is original and clever.
Definitely recommend, but only if you're up for it.
It's a warning, that this manga is indeed, really depressing at times beyond all the heartwarming comedic relief of it.
