Horrible science is getting a make-over. Readers will be fascinated to find out which scary surgeon stole a giant's dead body and what Egyptians did with tortoise brains. With a fantastic new cover look and extra horrible bits at the back of the book, this best-selling title is sure to be a huge hit with a new generation of "Horrible Science" readers.
Nick Arnold is the author of the award winning series, Horrible Science and Wild Lives. Arnold's first published works appeared as a result of a project he was working on at the University of North London, when he was trying to teach young children. A positive review was written about him, and he started to write the "Horrible Science" books. His books are illustrated by Tony De Saulles.
OK look first off let's just at that this book isn't aimed at me. I'm too old for its target demographic. However I do enjoy horrible histories and find this kind of book great for little nuggets of history and facts. The illustrations are fun and the writing overall acessable, interesting and fun. There were time that I felt it went a little awry maybe too much on smelly socks etc but again I appreciate its not aimed at me. Where I do take issue is perpetuating some idea that teachers are horrible. Sure you can get away with individual characters like that in comics like the beano but in a book about learning I think that this kind of sweeping statement is an ill-educated misstep. So I'm knocking a star off for this 🌟 Sorry 😔 good overall though so I do recommend it 👍
This book is a mixture of the two books Measly Medicine and Savage Surgery illustrated by Tony De Saulles and written by Nick Arnold. This a very good mash-up and it is very funny. Well, science will never be more interesting!
