Paolo Eleuteri Serpieri is an Italian comic book writer and illustrator, noted for his works of highly detailed renderings of the human form, particularly erotic images of women. He is best known for his work on the Druuna erotic science fiction series.
This is my father's. He says he bought it in a second-hand comic shop. My French is very poor but I... errr... managed to read between the lines. I also guess knowing a Latin language helps.
Sorta.
I really can't explain what this comic is about. Apparently this is just book #5. It's kind of the hot dream of a hetero male in a sci-fi world. Mandragora has sex, lots of sex, with humans and with no humans, with men and with women, consented or dub-non-con. I admit some scenes were pretty hot, although most of it made little to no sense to me.
The mutation virus has manifest on the rescue ship, infecting one of the Prolats. Doc and Captain Will know from Druuna that there was a serum which retarded the mutation. They question her and although she doesn't know, she realises Lewis (God) probably did. The energy hybrid of Lewis/Shastar is currently infecting the ship's computer. While they can't communicate, Druuna has proved that she is susceptible to it's telepathy. Doc hooks her up to the computer where she enters Lewis' mind and is sent on a quest to find the secret of the serum. She has to explore and seduce her way through a parade of sadists and mutants in usual Druuna style.
This dream/mental landscape allows us to revisit Druuna's home environment of 'The City' though being a dreamscape and in a computer, it gives rise to a nice fusion of organic and cyber tech and of course a mix of what's gone before with new and weird elements.
The art is stunning as ever, however Druuna isn't at her best here. For some bizarre reason she gets stockings and a teeny white crop-top which didn't do much for me. The stockings in particular just seem out of place. Otherwise though this one's not bad, I like the story which fuses sex and death beautifully. The irony that the serum which will cure them is derived from the mandragore (mandrake root) fed on semen (the suppliers of which are killed)

I found it a bit confusing but that's probably because I finally read it after only knowing the story from the first book of the series but I enjoy following her thought process through the mazes and hardships. The males are even smartly written.
She's a bit voluptuous for my tastes but what a CUTE CHEEKY FACE! ...and scenes within are really sexy in the most brutally perverse way (for guys that is).
I'm sick of waiting on previous tomes of all kinds so I'm just going ahead and knocking down a long shelf of them. I've had this one since July 2019!
Directly continuing from the previous volume, "Mandragore" follows Druuna as she uses her telepathic abilities to communicate with her former lover Lewis via the sentient computer systems. Her goal is to find a serum to stop a virus from spreading aboard the rescue ship she's on, and finds that the serum is derived from mandrake roots growing from semen. The story is bizarre for sure, and there is a surreal quality to it all due to the many dreamscapes in this volume. However, story-wise this was probably the dryest read of the series thus far. Serpieri over explains everything to the point of tedium, and it takes away from what was otherwise a beautiful looking book.
Five stars for the art, one star for the story and two for the world building, so I give three stars as a mix of the three. Sex, monsters and violence are not really my cup of tea, but still the beautiful art made me turn the pages.
