Why would you suddenly start liking your glasses because they match your granddad's? I would march my fanny back to the eye doctor's as soon as I could and switch frames.

Baby Duck was unhappy about getting eyeglasses. Grandpa had the answer for that problem. Very cute story and illustrations that should be of comfort to children shy about having to wear eyeglasses.

October 28, 2015Baby Duck and the Bad Eyeglasses by Amy Hest, illustrated by Jill Barton talks about a critical issue that many children face- wearing glasses. For some reason, wearing glasses seems to be a point of negativity for children. They think wearing glasses makes them stand out, or look weird and Baby Duck is no exception. She is sporting some new glasses and is horrified that they look weird on her. Her parents try to help her see how cute she looks in them, but it doesn't seem to work. She just thinks that she can't do anything because of her new eyeglasses. She can't play or jump or have friends, but then.... they go see her grampa who shows her that he has glasses just like hers! Baby Duck then feels great about her new glasses. This book is a great way to teach children about acceptance and that change is a good thing.

This was a cute picture book that children who struggle with having to wear glasses can enjoy. The illustrations were engaging and lively. I really like the ending when Baby is asked to read what the boat says. It adds to the notion of needing glasses.

Good book to teach students about individuality. We are not all the same, yet we do have to be respectful.

Great illustrations, but I found it a bit odd that they never explained why Baby Duck thought the eyeglasses were bad in the first place!

Always happy to read a children's story during which a grandparent comes to the rescue and helps a child feel better about him or herself.

The grandfather understands the child better than the parents do.
