This is a fantastic book...I have just started it for the second time. Zig Ziglar is a faithul, God following, Christian man and he loves to share his light with others. The unabridged audio version of this book is read by Zig Ziglar and is amazing to listen to as he adds his own southern drawl inflection to these wonderfully enthusiastic, inspiring, and uplifting words...

I don't believe I have ever read a book as quickly as I read Better Than Good. Zig is the best for a reason and this book has left me wanting; wanting to experience the 'better than good' life as soon as possible. I have a renewed sense of hope in my future and what I can make it.

A lot of concepts were great. Much of it is the application of the law of attraction.

What was a turn off was that the second half of the book was proselytizing his Christian faith. Taking examples from his life and how Chrisitan faith helped his life become "better than good" is fine. Telling his readers what to believe and what not to believe is not.

I would have tolerated a chapter speaking to his faith; not half the book.

This book's main theme is the answer to the following question:
How can I live a better life?
I warmly recommend this book for the people who really want to change themselves in order to live an extraordinary life.

"Better Than Good: Creating a Life You Can't Wait to Live" by Zig Ziglar is a motivating book by one of the most popular motivation authors and speakers of the last five decades. In this book, Ziglar aims to inspire you to redefine success and achieve your dreams. He wants you to live a life that is Better Than Good. I believe he's done just that. You can't help but to feel better and be more motivated to pursue and achieve more out of your life after reading this book.

The three parts of the book, or pillars of the good life, are Passion, Peak Performance, and Purpose. In these parts, Ziglar shares stories and examples, mixed with common sense wisdom gained over years of experience, and faith based lessons to help you become inspired and passionate about setting goals, developing good habits, and living the life you were called to live.

Ziglar is a devout Christian and there is a strong spiritual message in this book. Part testimony to how becoming a Christian changed his life, and part call for readers to accept Christ. Ziglar acknowledges that some people are interested in his thoughts on motivation, success, training, and performance, but are not interested in his thoughts on spirituality, and he respects that completely. With that said, this book has a strong dose of spirituality based on Ziglar's Christian faith. I believe this will greatly appeal to some, but maybe not others. I put it in the review so you can decide.

I personally enjoyed the book and found it quite motivating. It caused me to think about some things in my life as I strive to live "Better Than Good." I agree with one of Ziglar's old quotes that motivation wears off, just like a shower cleans you but you get dirty again. That's why we bathe daily and why I like to read or listen to something motivating regularly if not daily. This was a good, positive, motivating read, and a book that will help many people live better than good lives.

The older Zig got, the more religious his books became. And this is one of his latest books before his death. I knew that, and I should have expected it.

At least I got it free from the library.

There's some decent self-help info to be had here. But you have to wade through the discussions about intelligent design, god's purpose, etc. In the end what it comes down to is that Zig couldn't fathom the absence of a god because otherwise his life wouldn't have any meaning. And neither would his readers' lives. But thanks to god, everything is unicorns and rainbows.

The most annoying bit comes at the end, after the closing and acknowledgements. Zig spends 10 minutes humblebragging about how he's going to heaven even though he's so sinful and god loves him -- and we can do the same if we just recite the proper magic spell. I grew up with this crap. (Zig was a member of the church I grew up in.)

Zig gets it. He's one of the few in the world that realizes that our success and purpose only comes from God, and the diligent work that He commands. In his book, "Better Than Good", Zig strives to get his readers to understand this point, and he does a great job at doing so.

If you're looking for motivation, how to be at your peak performance, and live the "better than good" life, Zig tells you how in this book. He has decades of experience, and the stories and wisdom he has to share is invaluable.

I highly recommend giving this book a read.

Zig is endearing. I listened to this book bought from Audible. Zig narrates this book and that really helped the message to have power. However, in this narration, the listener can tell that Zig, at age 79 when reading this, was ailing just a bit. This book is more spiritual than I realized and I appreciate Zig’s faith and embraced what he was communicating. Some may not embrace his evangelical zeal but his principles work whether one is Christian or not. His joy is infectious and his wisdom is simple yet profound. His affirmations can really help with personal motivation.

Zig Ziglar is a compelling and funny speaker. Speaking in front a live audience is where he shines. This book, while full of practical ideas, isn't as good.

The book is very Christian focussed and more than a chapter is spent witnessing of Christ.

Overall, if I were to follow the advice in the book I'd be a better person. Zig is inspiring and has plenty of practical advice.

Zig told us not to live in mediocre. Things I could learn from these book is "if we could do great, why settle with being good?".

Every so often I put fiction aside and I take hold of an inspirational book. In my opinion, there is nothing better than a Zig Ziglar book. If you are looking for inspiration, motivation and all of it based on Christian principles, then Zig’s your man!
The title grabbed my attention and as I glanced at the contents, I only noticed two words, passion and purpose. Although the book was published in 2006, I believe the content to still be relevant in 2019, which is the mark of a good book or content.
The book starts off with the inspirational testimonies of Debbie Macomber and George Washington Carver. Reading about their challenges had me comparing what they faced to some aspects in my life, more specifically Debbie’s challenges. I would love to write and call myself a published author and the story about Debbie might just encourage me to try again, and again. As we face our challenges, we seem to think that we are the only ones experiencing this, but we need to look around and see how many people have had to deal with similar situations, and we need to learn from their experiences.
One area that will always make us back down is stress. Stress is a beast and as mentioned in the book you must learn to guard against that. A great way to combat stress, is laughter. Ziglar also encourages us to have the first laugh – laugh at yourself. I do that – when I make a mistake and realise what I have done, I tend to laugh. It truly helps.
If we want to live a Better Than Good life, we need to invest in our passion and surround or immerse ourselves in our passion. This needs to happen daily. Dig deep and determine what it is that makes you feel alive. What are you passionate about? What is your purpose in life? Once you have the answers to those questions, you can pursue that.

Zig Ziglar’s Better Than Good: Creating a Life You Can't Wait to Live is a timeless dose of optimism, purpose, and practical motivation. While originally published years ago, its message still rings true in today’s world—perhaps even more so. Ziglar masterfully blends personal stories, faith, and common-sense wisdom to inspire readers to aim not just for success, but for significance.

Yes, some ideas are repeated throughout the book—but even that repetition feels like a deliberate reinforcement of core values: integrity, service, and the pursuit of excellence. If you’re looking for a book that lifts your spirit and challenges you to raise your standards, Better Than Good is still… better than most

When asked how he is Zig would respond “better than good” – why because he truly expected things to be and become “better than good”. How you expect things to be greatly influences how they become. You have to believe in your heart that life is, indeed, “better than good.”, hence the title.

Zig suggests the passionate people who make the greatest contributions to society are highly motivated also have proper motives. Proper motives always seek to accomplish goals that contribute to the common good of serving others.

So think about what are you doing to continually rekindle the passion of your life? What kind of inspiration are you providing for yourself that will keep you pursuing your dream?

Get involved, invest, inquire and imagine for inspiration. Nothing is as infectious as optimism and a positive outlook.

This is a good, teaching book for anyone working to reach goals and live a better life. It addresses and will help you through discouragements, stresses, and setbacks of goals. And it provides motivation and encouragement through practical and business advice from a Christian perspective.

I loved how Zig Ziglar infused godly principals and faith into his practical advice. It brought balance to the book. To me, the most powerful advice was this: If you know in your heart that you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing, you’ll keep at it and will be happy. In the end, other people will be blessed and God will be honored. That’s reaching your God given potential and living the Better Than Good Life!

If you’re in the beginning phase of goal setting and need help in getting started or simply need a boost of inspiration, this book will provide what you need.

Zig is the man, who sees things bright. That perspective in life isn't hard and he proves it in Better Than Good. Stories and life experiences that get to the deeper bone of motivation which helps you in the long run and to keep motivated as a life style not a temporary fix for something you want. We all want something better for our lives and I think this book is one of those friends we can keep on the shelves. Even if you are not religious, there are some great nuggets of knowledge as being a better human being. I may not agree with all Zig says but he's been to the top and by the time I'm at the top I hope to help other people who want to get to the top, to the top.

Decided to start reading some Zig this year. I knew "of him" all my life but thought he was more sales-focused than personal success.

Was intrigued by Seth Godin's fairly frequent references to Zig but still hadn't "bitten" and read any of his work. Then discovered the Ziglar podcast and got exposed to some of his teachings and decided I needed to read.

Glad I did. I'm sure I'll re-read from time to time.

Lots of great content and insight from a guy that clearly knows his stuff. A little bit overloaded with the gospel for my taste, but was done in a reasonable fashion to not be a complete turn off. It seemed to go in waves of great content to more preachy and back again. If you can stomach lots of biblical references you will get a lot out of Better Than Good. If you can't don't even bother picking this up.

I sincerely enjoyed reading this book. My perspectives have changed and a great take home for me is that it awakened in me the desire to love and do more for humanity; my passion, purpose and peak performance is being aligned; I am more persistent and ready to push through to achieve my set goals. I'm glad I started the year with this book because it is the perfect kick-start I need for the year.

Zig Ziglar’s audiobooks do not disappoint and this is no exception. While this book is a worthwhile read for it’s message and guidance, the audio version is highly recommended. Ziglar narrates his works, and it makes all of the difference. He brings his passion into the message. The reader can actually hear the meaning and learn the correct way to implement the strategy through Ziglar’s tone of voice.

Decent start, but the entire second half goes hard on religion, which if you aren't a Christian undercuts the message in the first half.

If you are a Christian and want a motivational religious book, this might be a good choice. Otherwise, I would avoid.

There was even a whole section devoted to Intelligent Design. I have no idea why Ziglar thought he should weigh in on that one, despite being unqualified. After that, it was difficult to take this book seriously.

Really really good, he falls away from the main premise of the book towards the end; and although like the author I'm a deeply religious person I didn't see how a deep dive into all his personal religious views were necessary in the structure of the book. I like his other content better but still gets 4 stars.

It’s not a bad book but it’s a lot more religious than I expected. I knew Zig’s older work was that way but hadn’t anticipated this one being that way as well.

There are some great quotes in the book and the ideas are sound. It was just a slog to get around the Bible quotes, the church going, and the praise gods.

It's okay, nothing fantastic or earth shattering. If people ask how you're doing, say "better than good", and you should strive to not just accept good as being "good enough".

The second half of the book does get very religious, which I'm not offended by, but I feel that it's not a motivating technique that everyone can or wants to relate to.
