Outwardly Papa Schimmelhorn is an elderly cuckoo clock assembler with overactive hormones. But beneath the lecherous façade lurks a powerful subconscious. Having solved the problems of time travel, black holes and alternate universes he looks forward with unbound glee to the simple problem of converting lead into the world's most precious commodity - GOLD!
But then he meets Gaspar Gansfleisch, the finest (and vilest) alchemist in Europe... and the 400-year-old homunculus who is his prisoner... and the luscious Priestess Philippa Theophrastra Bombast von Hohenheim. Life is never simple for a subconscious genius.
And if you think things can't get worse, he has yet to meet the Minotaur!
So terrible, got this in my halfpricebooks grab bag.... (not worth the money, got some old moldy stuff), a crazy wizard likes to have sex with cats... that sums it up. The writing is very choppy, short sentences and trying to write with a Russian accent? (Maybe?) The best part of the book was reading about the author Reginal Bretnor, seriously go look him up.... the sex with cats part make so much sense... as a side note this was published by TOR in 1986, so there is that, I guess the 80's wasn't the best time for fantasy erotica... I can't even put this in my yard sale pile...
