An illustrated history of Japan's participation in World War II focuses on the political events that brought the nation into the war, and the sacrifices made by the Japanese people
This one was a real slog to get through, like the battles in Iwo Jima and Okinawa, it was page by page torture and every line/yard was hard fought. Easily the least enjoyable volume in the series so far.
Brutal, that is the best word for this volume. The volume details the sad, savage horrors fo Iwo Jima and Okinawa and the terrible price paid by both sides leading up to the end of the war.
Bought this Life Time series in the early 1980's on WWII, a volume came to the house every 2 or 3 months so I could take my reading. It was very informative and enjoyable read, I still use it for reference.
