I didn't know Okinawa was such a bigger battle than Iwo Jima. I did know that kamikazes and cave fighting sucks. A lot.

This one was a real slog to get through, like the battles in Iwo Jima and Okinawa, it was page by page torture and every line/yard was hard fought.
Easily the least enjoyable volume in the series so far.

Brutal, that is the best word for this volume. The volume details the sad, savage horrors fo Iwo Jima and Okinawa and the terrible price paid by both sides leading up to the end of the war.

Typically good Time-Life WW@ book, focusing on Iwo Jima and Okinawa, with a chapter on kamikazes.

Bought this Life Time series in the early 1980's on WWII, a volume came to the house every 2 or 3 months so I could take my reading. It was very informative and enjoyable read, I still use it for reference.
