Extremely informative book detailing the history of musical instruments and their evolution. Features numerous photographs and illustrations. Begins with primitive musical instruments, then covers organs, the clavichord, harpsichord, spinet and virginal, the pianoforte, the violin group, fretted instruments, the development of the harp, ancient and folk backgrounds, woodwind instruments, brass and percussion. A fasciniating and well-written book.
