A member of two important literary societies, the Tunnel über der Spree in Berlin and Die Krokodile in Munich, he wrote novels, poetry, 177 short stories, and about sixty dramas. The sum of Heyse's many and varied productions made him a dominant figure among German men of letters.
Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1910 "as a tribute to the consummate artistry, permeated with idealism, which he has demonstrated during his long productive career as a lyric poet, dramatist, novelist and writer of world-renowned short stories."

மிகவும் வித்தியாசமான தமிழ் வார்த்தையை தலைப்புக்குக்காக க.நா .சு தேர்ந்தேடுத்து இருக்கிறார்.

L'Arrabbiata என்பது இத்தாலிய மொழி சொல் .அதன் முதன்மையான அர்த்தம் "கோபம்கொண்டவர் ".
ஆகவே ஆங்கிலத்தில் இச்சிறுகதைக்கு" The Fury " என்ற சொல்லை தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார்கள் .ஆனால் க.நா.சுவின் "காளி" மிக பொருத்தமான வார்த்தை தேர்வு என்று நான் நினைக்கிறன் . கதையை படித்தவர்கள் அதை ஒத்துக்கொள்வார்கள் என்று நினைக்கிறேன்.

அன்பு தான் இன்றைக்கு ஆகப்பெரிய வன்முறையாக இருக்கிறது. லாரெல்லா வின் தாயின் உடல்நிலை சரியில்லை. காரணம் அவளின் தந்தை, தினமும் தாயை அடித்து உதைத்து கொடுமை படுத்துகிறார் சில நேரங்களில் கீழே தள்ளி வெறி கொண்டவர் போல மிதிக்கிறார். பிறகு இறுதியில் அன்பு செலுத்துகிறார். இதைக்கண்ட லாரெல்லா இனி தன் வாழ்வில் எந்த ஆணுக்கும் இடமில்லை ,
அன்பின் பெயரில் நடக்கும் இதை போன்ற வன்முறையை அனுமதித்து ஒரு ஆணுக்கு நான் அடிமையாய் இருக்க விரும்பவில்லை என்று முடிவு செய்கிறாள். ல்ரெல்லாவை அன்பு துரத்துகிறது இரண்டு பேர் அவளை காதலிப்பதாக வருகிறார்கள் ஒருவன் ஓவியன் இன்னொருவன் படகோட்டி. படகோட்டி அவளை நடுக்கடலில் வைத்து மிரட்டுகிறான் தன் அன்பை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படியாகவும் தன்னை நேசிக்கும் படியாகும் வற்புறுத்துகிறான். ( எப்போதும் ஆண்கள் தேர்வு செய்யும் வழி
) இறுதியில் அன்பின் பொருட்டு தான் காதலின் பொருட்டு தான் அவன் என்னிடம் சண்டை பிடித்தால் என்று புரிந்து கொண்டு அவனின் காதலை ஏற்றுக் கொள்கிறாள். இந்த சிறுகதையின் முக்கியமான இடம் இது எதன் பொருட்டு ஆண்களின் துணையும் ஆண்களின் அன்பும் தனக்கு தேவையில்லை என்று நினைத்தாலோ அவளே அந்த படகோட்டி இடம் என்னை அடிமைப்படுத்து, என்னை அடி ,உதை, மிதி, என்ன வேணும் என்றாலும் செய் ஆனால் உன்னுடைய அன்பு என்கின்ற காதல் எனக்கு தேவை என்று சரணடைகிறாள். உண்மையில் ஒவ்வொரு பெண்ணின் வாழ்க்கையும் இவ்வாறு தான் இருக்கிறது ஆண்கள் தங்களின் போலி பாவனையில் மூலமாக போலியான அன்பின் மூலமாக பெண்களை வசியப்படுத்துகிறார்கள் . பின்பு அதையே காரணம் காட்டி அன்பின் பொருட்டு அவளை சித்ரவதை செய்கிறார்கள் ஒரு ஸ்டேடிஸ்ட் ஆக மாறுகிறார்கள். 19 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் தொடக்கத்தில் வாழ்ந்த இந்த எழுத்தாளர் நோபல் பரிசு முதல் பல பரிசுகளை பெற்றிருக்கிறார் அந்த காலகட்டத்தில் ஆகச்சிறந்த கதையான இந்த கதை உலகில் உள்ள எல்லா மொழிகளிலும் மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்டு இருக்கிறது. அப்போதே இதை க நா சு தமிழில் மொழி பெயர்த்திருக்கிறார். ஆண்கள் தங்களின் வேடங்களால் பெண்களை வசியப்படுத்துவதை அவர்கள் ஏமாறுவதையும் நல்ல நேர்த்தியாக பதிவு செய்திருக்கிறார் இதன் எழுத்தாளர் உண்மையிலேயே இது ஒரு ஆகச் சிறந்த கதை தான். காளி காளி என்றால் அடங்காப்பிடாரி யாருக்கும் அடங்கி போகாதவள். ஆண்களிடம் சிரித்து குலாவி,கொஞ்சிக் கொண்டு அவர்களுடன் ஒத்துழைப்பு தராதவள் என்று பொருள். தங்களை மதிக்காத தங்களுக்கு கீழ்ப்பணிந்து போகாத பெண்களுக்கு ஆண்கள் கொடுக்கும் பட்டப்பெயர். ஒரு பெண் தனித்திருந்தாள் அது ஏன் ஆண்களை அவ்வாறு உறுத்துகிறது ஏன் அந்த பெண்ணை வீழ்த்தி வசியப்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்று ஆண்கள் நினைக்கிறார்கள் ? ஏன் ஒரு பெண் எப்போதும் ஆணுக்கு அடிமைப்பட்டவளாகவே இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று கருதுகிறார்கள் ? என்ன ஒரு அற்புதமான சிறுகதை.
அன்பின் பெயரில் நடக்கும் இதை போன்ற வன்முறையை அனுமதித்து ஒரு ஆணுக்கு நான் அடிமையாய் இருக்க விரும்பவில்லை என்று முடிவு செய்கிறாள். ல்ரெல்லாவை அன்பு துரத்துகிறது இரண்டு பேர் அவளை காதலிப்பதாக வருகிறார்கள் ஒருவன் ஓவியன் இன்னொருவன் படகோட்டி. படகோட்டி அவளை நடுக்கடலில் வைத்து மிரட்டுகிறான் தன் அன்பை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படியாகவும் தன்னை நேசிக்கும் படியாகும் வற்புறுத்துகிறான். Historical tales. Inspired Hemingway?
In these stories written with great narrative skill and lyricism by the prince of letters, Goethe's successor, Love and Appearances are presented to us as the central theme.
The atmosphere, descriptions and dramas are so enveloping and precise that they could be defined as "historical tales" just as we speak of historical novels. Furthermore, as we mentioned in the video by Barry Lyndon de Thackeray (https://youtu.be/0Dw527cOYnI), or "When life begins" by Bunin (https://youtu.be/SU-tQx46Cc8), It doesn't matter if they are real or not, the author's magnificent stories endow them with existence. Be sure to see my comments on each story, where I highlight the relationship with movies, other books, the inspiration of Hemingway, a beautiful metaphor similar to Kierkegaard's, and even a very innovative archetype of atonement for guilt.

தன் வாழ்க்கையை மற்றவர்களின் வாழ்க்கையோட ஒப்பீட்டு முடிவுகளை எடுக்கத் தயங்குவதும் மறுப்பதும் அறீவனத்தில் சேர்த்தியென்றாலும் அதில் மாறுதல் ஏற்படலாம் என்பது போலத் தன் பெற்றவர்களின் குடும்ப வாழ்வை பார்த்தே திருமணத்தை வெறுப்பவளுக்குத் தேடிவருபவரையும் ஏற்க மனமில்லை.
அதே ஊரிலே அவளைக் காதலித்திருப்பவன் என்றாவது ஒருநாள் தனக்குக் கிட்டுவாள் என்று காத்திருந்து காத்திருந்து ஒரு கட்டத்தில் புத்திமழுங்கி தவறாக நடக்க முற்படும் போது அவனுக்குத் தண்டனை கொடுத்தவள், அவன்பால் இவ்வளவு நாட்களாக மனதில் மறைத்து வைத்து இருந்த காதலை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறாள்.

How to de-age a story?
Considering this story is written in the late half of 19th century it is quite hard to understand the impact of this novel. The author and his legacy (nobel prize) is also mentioned very clearly but in retrospect the novel or its setting didn't offer me anything new. Maybe my lack of knowledge with the literary scene during those times could also be a reason. I wish I could de-age the story and look back at what kind of impact this would have made back then.
Ka.Na.Su 's translation work looks seamless as always

காப்ரி தீவிற்கு நானும் ஒரு நாள் படகு பயணம் செய்ய ஆசை.
