A little boy and girl find a seed, and decide to keep it safe. They play with it but it doesn't grow. What must they do to make it grow? When it flowers and dies they find it has left them lots of new seeds to plant. Perfect to get children interested in gardening and introduce them to the plant life cycle and seasons.
When two young friends--a boy and a girl--find a seed, they have no idea what to do with it so they put it in a box with no results. Next, they sing to it, but nothing happens. Finally, the seed speaks to them, and they plant and water it. As the temperatures rise, the seed sprouts, grows, and rewards them with a beautiful sunflower. The illustrations show how excited the youngsters are throughout this whole process. But as the fall winds come, the sunflower dies, leaving behind a few gifts. These once-inexperienced gardeners don't despair because now they know what to do with those seeds. The next planting season will give them a chance to do it all over again. This picture book is a gentle, relatable introduction to gardening and the possibilities lying within a seed, whether it's an actual seed in a garden or a metaphoric seed.
Two exuberant children find a seed. They put it in a box and sing to it, but nothing happens. It's only when they plant it in the ground that the magic happens. I loved EVERYTHING about this book - the humor, the author's illustrations, and, especially the reactions the kids have to whatever is happening with their seed/plant. This is a real treat for gardeners of all ages.

This book was adorable! It was about two best friends that found a seed. They of course didn’t know what to do with it at first but they quickly figured it out. The illustrations were quite perfect for this quirky little book. I liked that there were life lessons being given in this short story, the life cycle of a plant and also not to give up keep trying until you figure things out. This book would be great for preschoolers or kindergartners.
Great book! There's even one part where the seed grows the kids in the book pretend to grow, this would be a great way to make the book interactive and have them slowly rise up from the ground little by little each time the book saids, "it grew." Great for flower/spring/gardening storytime. You could even use this book to introduce the concept of "cold stratification" to teach about seeds that need the cold dormant period of winter in order to sprout in the spring!
Sweet book about two children finding a seed and how they treated it. Loved the ending. Perfect to get kids interested in the earth, plants, and gardening.
Thanks Net Galley and Scallywag Press for allowing me a temporary ARC to review.
I loved this book!!! This is the type of book that is an instant classic. If you can remember any of your childhood experiences they will all come flooding back when you start to read this book. Come a long for the ride and share the fun of childhood all over again with We found a Seed.
This was a sweet book about how we need to be in the appropriate place to grow, told through two young children who find a sunflower seed and try several methods to get it to grow.
The artwork is cheerful and colorful, and this would be a lovely addition to any child's collection.
This is a nice, little story for young readers on how to interact positively with nature. The book has themes of curiosity, problem solving, and success.
