Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

It was interesting to read the first hand account of papal activities during Burchard's lifetime, but the book primarily focused on his role in advising the pontiffs what to wear and the pecking order of who lines up first, middle and last. It's great to have such a real time account of these activities, but less interesting than the (sordid) reality of Alex VI and others of the time.

It's the precious family Borgia so I don't need to add anything. Anyway it's a very good book.

Just as one reads Gatsby and thinks 'these goons had it coming', re 1929, one reads Burchard and thinks 'these goons had it coming' re 1517
